Hello, Fellow Walkers.

We are a small group of walkers who use the Leslie Sansone walks for our exercise routine and who post our progress and support each other in meeting monthly walking goals. Although originally a walking group, SWAT has evolved into a very open, free-style support group. Some walk, some do strength training, and some of us mix it up. Everyone has different schedules and is at varying levels on their weight loss journeys so you set your own goals. The only one you are competing against is yourself; the group is here to offer motivation and support.

If you’d like to join, just introduce yourself and / or post your goals for the month. Check in as often as you can --- daily, weekly, whatever works for you.

The SWAT Walking Team originally stood for Sansone Walking Team (after the Walk Away the Pounds originator) and the name stuck. For those of you not familiar with Walk Away the Pounds (now referred to as Walk at Home), they are walking workouts by Leslie Sansone. There are four moves to each workout (walk in place, kicking, knee lifts, and side steps), and most workouts offer modified movements for a beginner or someone who needs a less strenuous walk. They range from one mile (about 15 minutes) to five mile (about 80 minutes) walks and can be done in your living room right in front of your TV or computer. They are available at Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. They also can be rented from Netflix or downloaded from the Internet, and some cable providers have them available in the Free Zone.

I found this group about a year ago, and it has helped to keep me on track (and accountable!) with regular exercise. With these holiday months, my November goal is to walk for 60 miles for the month (an average of two miles per day). Hope to walk and support along with you this month!

Count me in....I do Zumba on days when I can make it to the classes but I had been doing Leslie dvd's on my days off from Zumba and I really need to get back into that habit again. So my goal for November is to do at least 1 mile with Leslie on the days I don't do Zumba.

I love Leslie! My hubby and I use her almost every day. I think this is a great challenge! I would like to be in please add me.

My name is Vicki and I have to date lost 48 pounds and have a ways to go but the results so far have had tremendous impact! I feel great and look better than I have in years!

My goal especially this week with 3 classes this week, is to walk no less than the 20 minute walk and tone Leslie Sansone workout on those 3 days this week, starting tomorrow Oct 31.

I also love to Zumba and do so on Tues, Thurs and Sat but this week will miss the Thursday so this challenge comes at the perfect time to combat the very busy week I am about to enter. I also in general would like to walk on the off Zumba days building up to the 5 mile walk as a regular routine 2 times a week.

i'm kristy, and i'm pledging/challenging myself for 75 miles. i do these videos 6 times a week/3 miles a day. would like to see if i can keep it going. been slacking lately.

recently bought wrist weights to wear along with my ankle weights that way i get a little strength training (only 1 lb a piece). hate to say it but i got bored with the band. i find that the "boosted walking/jogging" makes me sweat and have seen great results. i also have rest days: wednesday, saturday with no strength training and sunday is total rest day without exercise at all and cheat day.

also in sexy in 6 challenge, week 5 so this will help me succeed with that challenge as well.

so does this start tomorrow or tuesday, the actual beginning of the month?

First of all, thanks to AZChatter for setting this up again. I appreciate it. You're a big help keeping me on track.

I think I'll set 25 miles for my goal. I did the Leslie Boot Camp today. 3 miles of workout with strength training mixed in. I can't believe how quickly it goes by. I think that's why I like it so much, the variety.

Good luck to everyone that's doing SWAT this month. I think Leslie will be doing her 21 days to Thanksgiving challenge on her website again this November. If she does, I think I'll give it a try. It can only help motivate me!!! LOL

Happy walking everyone! And Happy Halloween!

I'm here! I've been busy finishing up some things I'm making for a charity auction and I also need to finish a hat I am making for my youngest dd for her birthday--I've already told her it will be late. Her birthday is Sunday and I need to mail it to her! Oh well--better late than never, I guess!

I've only managed 3 miles so far this month but I will be picking up the pace here in a day or so. I am getting my grandson on a regular schedule (his parents never did that and just complain about his sleep habits--he 16 months old for Pete's sake--THEY need to set his schedule!) and I do believe he's gotten it down already! He's such a sweet boy.

Anyway--"welcome" and "hi" to everyone. I will get here as often as I can!

Walked 1.4 miles today on my lunch break. Fall kind of sad time of year knowing that old man winter is right around the corner.

I would like to join. I have not used the tapes but was going to purchase this week. I'm glad I posted my question to the thread asking if folks tried and how they liked them. I'm still new to putting icons and "stuff" to your homw page, could use some advice on that one!! Please add me. Thanks

Welcome to Jenean and Wanda!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I love Leslie's videos and am getting back to doing them. I was walking outside but now it is cold and rainy (instead of just rainy!) so it is time to get back on the ball.

I only got 1 mile in yesterday but I vow to get more done today.

There are a couple "free" Leslie Sansone workouts on exercisetv.tv.com - they are called Start! Walking 2 Miles (1 Mile also available) and Cardio Slim Down (this is 1 mile) .... this might help you get started.

Collagevideo.com is great for "shopping" for DVDs - you get video clips & reviews. It might help you narrow the field a bit (so many Leslie's).

Netflix has lots of Leslie Sansone videos for rent (no instant ones though).

    Good morning!

@Wanda---The Walk Away The Pounds website has some small workouts you can do right from the computer. That'll help hold you until the 11th!

I did another 3 miles this morning. It was the Sleek and Slim DVD. Leslie teaches some Pilates techniques in this one. I liked it.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Keep moving!

Here's my list of online walking videos--

    Leslie Sansone Videos Online

Here are some videos from youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M9fV8QYoVc&feature=PlayList&p=3276123ADD7730EE&playnext_from=PL&index=0

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68NaX-7v2DQ&feature=PlayList&p=3276123ADD7730EE&playnext_from=PL

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XWRZcvAZys&feature=PlayList&p=3276123ADD7730EE&playnext_from=PL

These 3 equal her 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds for Abs. (You can use light hand weights in place of the walk belt.)

    Also:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndVjwkaLGDk&feature=PlayList&p=3276123ADD7730EE&playnext_from=PL

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8b4P57jNsQ&feature=PlayList&p=3276123ADD7730EE&playnext_from=PL

These 2 are 1 mile each. You can create a playlist if you have an account and then you can play them all consecutively. (I have also recently discovered that I can put them on my RealPlayer (free download) and not download the commercials! This is a much smoother transition even than as a YouTube playlist.)

This is a 15 minute 1 mile walk with the California raisin!:

    http://www.calraisins.org/healthy-lifestyle/smart-steps-for-good-health/

Scroll down the page and click on the Web video link to the right of the picture.

And finally, here's a link to her 1, 2, and 3 mile Start Walking workouts:

    http://www.exercisetv.tv/startwalking/default.aspx?=aha_link_startwalking_april09
(I had to scroll down the page a bit.)

All these links can be watched and done online.

Another link I came across: her 1-Mile Express walk:
    http://www.walkathome.com/on-demand/1-mile_express.html

Just copy and paste the address into your browser. They all worked when I checked them!

I'm getting into a better routine, slowly but surely. I have to really focus though, as I seem to be struggling with some depression and that leads me to eat!

It is nice right now but supposed to rain later so I am going to get things started so I can get outside to walk!

Pmjsmom - Thank you for the You Tube links. It's nice to have other alternatives.

Luneytoonz - I really like the Slim & Sleek one. Lots of different moves. The "music only" option is is great.

    This weekend I did - Big Burn (2 miles) & Debbie Rocker's Total Body Challenge - only 1 mile (a non-Leslie)
