So it is Thursday, almost Friday. I can't remember the last time I exercised. I have time right now to exercise but have been doing homework all night and have to get up at 6:30 in the morning for school. I am trying to hard to push myself but can't seem to get time in. Is anyone as busy as me? When do you have time do fit it workouts? I can hardly function to complete daily activities let alone be coordinated enough to get on the elliptical.

In need of more advice please!!!

To tell you the truth, I'm scared to go back to work because I'm so scared I won't have the time to exercise, record and eat well. I admire you sooo much. Advice? First of all, don't be so hard on yourself.
Can you do any reading of school work while on the eliptical? Take 30 min. for a break to refresh your brain. You may be surprised that it helps you with school.
Try Interval training. For 30 min you can get cardio and strength training done.Hang in there kiddo-you're doing great!:flowerforyou:

:flowerforyou: j_g I really hope that you are doing better soon. j_g's husband, thank you for being so considerate and updating us. Please let her know we are all sending her lots of positive energy and support!

Nice job this week blue team. I really appreciate everyone who checks in and keeps us all motivated.
(especially Rachel who keeps us all on track!)

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Today I know will not be so good for me food wise. We started our day here at work with donuts and bagels. I had a bagel. and we are having a birthday lunch today too! Tonight I have a party to go to. Ohhhh the temptations!!

jacqueline - In college, I had a full-time schedule and a full-time job (sometimes a part-time job, too). I was a Journalism major, so I had lots of extra stuff to do outside of work (researching, writing, reporting, investigating, etc.)... so it always felt like I had no time!! :grumble: But, I found a way to workout (yeah, I did that in college! Not to the extent I do not because I really didn't know what I was doing...). I always scheduled each day out, hour-by-hour, on my planner. I could always seem to find an extra hour here or there to hit the gym - even if that hour was different each day or I had to split it up in 30-minute increments.

It's also easier if you pack all your meals and take them with you, instead of having to worry about taking the time to go somewhere to get food.

And, I'm not sure if you commute or live on/close to campus... but, walk everywhere as much as possible!! It really helps. Maybe use a pedometer?

    Hope that helps!! :flowerforyou:

I'm having a really bad day guys!

I HATE my job! There's not enough work here to last me a whole week so they end up sending me to other departments to do their crap work, and then I usually go home early. I'm on the verge of being considered parttime and losing my benefits. I just don't even know where to start looking for a new job...especially one that pays about what mine does now. I'm halfway done my bachelor's in accounting but every accounting job I find, on places like monster or jobfetch, want you to have your bachelors AND 3-5yrs experience. Well how can I get experience if I can't find a entry level job! I just don't know what to do!

Rach - so sorry work is what it is for you....I love my job but have a review of compensation on Monday so I am really nervous about that - they may change my pay structure which could be good or bad....we'll see....saying prayers for us both!

Oh Rach.. i k now your pain all to good.. I asked that question a million times when I graduated for Medical assistant

No matter where I looked it was min. 2-4 years exprc. How am i going to get exprc ? I even was at the stage where i asked
"Can i volutier to get exprc ? " and than they said= no it's ilegal, you can't do the job and not be paid for it.. grrrrr

It hard.. i gave up after 1-2 years of countless applications and interviews .. and ended up doing " cashier at wal mart !!"
after 3 years I got a phone call to come for an interview at an office where I had applied long time ago.. - it was just..
" when it's meant to be " .. and that was while the economy was still pretty good.. I can only imagine how bad it is now..
Pray to God and try to stay " calm " that's all we can do right now..hope for some better times soon..

Hang in there.. as frustrating as it is with your job, them sending you to diff. depts.. just deal with it, it's still better than
having no job at all.. I have compl to my boss few months ago about something and she said " you should consider yourself lucky to have a job .. you know how hard it is to get one ? '.. so the " bosses " know that we have no choice.. either deal with it.. or
they will replace us easy .. :(.. Sad.. but true..

Hate to break it to you but when I got out of college (with degree in hand) no one would hire me because of no experience. I ended up having to go through a temp agency for a long time just to be able to not lie about having some experience. Manpower, Kelly, etc... no benefits for a while but in the next couple of years it may pay off really nicely.
    Good luck.

I'm having a really bad day guys!

Girl, I had the same problem. Everybody wanted 3-5 years experience and I had none. I got a nice, unpaid internship, though... that got me in the door. Then, through networking, I met people and got even more experience and jobs. I'm not sure what you do... but do you have an opportunity to network with other people in the same field (preferably management)???? That's how I got the job I have now... through a contact I made when I worked for a newspaper. I feel so lucky to have this job... I love it!!

But, if you are intent on getting another job right now... have you tried any tax places? H&R Block? Not sure if this falls in your field :ohwell:, but it couldn't hurt to try! Maybe even do it part-time to get the experience!

Goodluck. I know how it feels... I'll keep you in my prayers.

I thought this would be interesting... what do you guys have planned for meals today?

Here's what I've had so far:

    Breakfast:
*Trim Advantage Meal Replacement Shake in Vanilla, mixed with a teaspoon of almond extract, 3 teaspoons of sugar-free vanilla powdered creamer and two cups of water
*2 pieces of 100% Whole Wheat bread with I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Butter
*1 tablespoon of peanut butter (I had this later in the morning... I was still a little bit hungry, not sure why; I usually don't have this)

    Snack:
    *13 Wheat Thin Fiber Selects
*1 piece of Laughing Cow Light French Onion cheese

    Lunch:
*Peanut butter & banana sandwich on 100% Whole Wheat bread
*1/4 cup of brown rice, 1/4 cup of black beans and 1 tsp. Worcestshire (sp?) mixed in
*1 Fiber One Mocha Chocolate bar

    Snack:
*Orville Redenbacher mini rice cakes (11 - sour cream & onion - yum!!)
*1/4 cup of Fiber One Original cereal

Aaaaand, that's what I've got so far! I'm under my daily allowance by about 100 calories, but I'm going to workout in about 45 minutes to get around 350-500 extra calories for dinner. Not sure what we're having... my boyfriend wants to go out... so, we'll see!

    :drinker:

Rach, you seem to be a bright and outgoing young woman. I am sure you will find a great job. I would think any accounting firm would want some extra help this time of year. If I were you, I would keep at my current job until something better comes along. I would also try finding or creating things for me to do in order to keep the benefits. You don't want to end up in a situation where you are working 2 part time jobs without benefits to make ends to meet.

I would also look into any other available options. Does your school offer job placement assistance? Are you part of any networking groups or professional associations? You could probably join at a student rate and use these groups for job leads. Have you thought about applying with non-profits or small businesses? Some of them would love to find an account/book keeper without having to pay the prices a degreed professional requires.

If you are planning to become a CPA, you should not have problems finding a job once you pass the test. You may want to hang your own shingle and run your own business rather than working for someone else.

I have a question for the biggest losers of the week for our wonderful blue team. How are you doing it?? I still have a hard time believing that I gained a pound this week. :noway: I worked my butt off. Then to land in the hospital with another how many days not being able to exercise however, on the flip side of that the food was nasty so i was low on calories. :ohwell: Ok another question how many times should I be working out a week. Is 6x/week too much am I over doing it. I was going to ask all these question to my doctor however since I went into the hospital i missed my jaws of life appointment Just to let you know that is my yearly exam. Now people get off the floor from laughing and get to responding.

It's bad enough that I haven't exercised in over a week. I've been snowed and iced in my house this week, still getting over a cold that I am hoping doesn't turn into a sinus infection, and when I finally make it back to work yesterday....

    I get laid off.

Awesome schedule!!! Busy, for sure, but it feels better to have everything planned out. :flowerforyou:

As for breakfast, I tried something new. My mom made some creme brulee the other night ( ... I only had a teeny bit! I promise!) and only used the yellows of two eggs. So, I spent the night here and used the egg whites this morning with some ground sage and laughing cow cheese. Popped them in the microwave for 1.5 minutes and voila! Put them on two pieces of wheat bread and it was GREAT! Now I'm just waiting for that to settle so I can start my new Leslie Sansone video.... I'm excited!

Hope you have a great workout!!!!

Oh goodness. :frown: Everywhere is laying off. It's crazy! Is it temporary? Can you get unemployment? Def. take advantage of that if you can!! And... workout at home if possible, it'll definitely help with your mood!!

    Good morning people!!

I just love catching up with everyone to see what's going on! However, looks like alot of us are having our ups & downs! Sickness, layoff's, plataeus, etc. It's nice that we all have eachother to lean on rather than going to food! I'm happpy to have you all here & I hope that things get better & that we can all get through our rough times!!

    Hang in there!!

I'm hoping to feel better by the evening to workout a bit! I haven't "moved" since I got sick on Wednesday & I'm still not feeling great today, but it comes & goes! I'm hoping to do at least a little treadmill program. I've been working out 6x a week & it's really killing me not being able to keep to that schedule! But, I know that it's important to take care of myself so I'll be sure to take it easy if I do work out!

    Keep movin people!! :drinker:

You crack me up!! We so missed you here!!
I work out 6x a week. Mostly hard cardio!! I try to burn about 400-500 calories a session. I do mostly treadmill, but I try to mix it up with a BL dvd here & there. I also go to step class 2x a week when the weather cooperates or I'm not barfing my guts out!!! The step class has a toning portion as well.
I've been doing the hundred pushup challenge for about 5 weeks now. It's amazing to see how strong you can get after a few short weeks!
As far as eating goes, I eat most of my calories. I may leave anywhere from 50-100 calories a day. I very rarely go over & I don't usually eat late.
I drink lots of Crystal Lite (walmart brand). If it ever comes out that it causes a second head to grow out of your neck I am done for!!! LOL!! While doing my workouts I usually down 2 bottles of water easily!
I hope it helps! Any other questions feel free to send me a message!
We are all different & I know that you're dedication will pay off! Hang in there! You have so very much on your "plate" now. Just know that even if the scale isn't showing the numbers you want, that you are getting healthier! You are improving your endurance & your heart! It'll pay off in the end & it will show! :drinker:

Workout to burn 500 calories 6 x a week - I can't wait til my hips will allow me to go that long. I've been working out about 5 days a week at 250-300 calories a session - and only 5 days because if I don't rest my hips are killing me (to where I can't get up stairs or even sit) I can tell I am building strenght and endurance. my loss has slowed way down But I measured yesterday and had lost more inches so that confirms that I am gaining muscle so that's cool!

    Happy Saturday Everyone -
