I yearn for the days adults can respectfully disagree with one another and it doesn't turn into a 3rd grade hair pulling contest....

I need to get over it....

I think I have heard this argument before.

Really? I don't think I've thought about it before.

Here's a factoid from being a psychology student for 14 years:

People will look to resolve any conflict that they can with the easiest method at their disposal. What does "you're just jealous" give exactly? Well it basically states that my opinion is superior to yours and that you are only arguing because you want to be like me, further reinforcing my superiority in the argument. It is, in a nutshell, an "I WIN" button that I can push whenever I don't have a proper counter-argument, similar to "NUH UH" and "UH HUH" and "NA NA NA NA IM NOT LISTENING", only "you're just jealous" takes those previous items and boosts my own ego further by stating that you just want to be like me anyway.

People are an arrogant, narcissistic and ego-centric bunch of protein sacks.

why is it when someone doesn't agree with someone else they automatically throw the "jealousy" card out there? Really? So, everyone's jealous of everyone? It can't just be that we agree to disagree, we are all just jealous. I personally think this is a flimsy, accusatory statement to just *throw around* all of the time.

Get over it. Agree to disagree and move on. Debate maturely, without accusation and namecalling.

    Rant over. *returns soapbox*

I've been thinking this same thing lately.

    this is so true.

usually the person throwing out the "your just jealous" is in fact the one that is jealous. That is why they feel the need to throw it out there.

I like to agree to disagree by saying, " you're right! I am totally jealous."

That was me, and I said it because the jealousy defence gets thrown around this website like confetti. It was a joke that other people actually got. I'm sorry you didn't understand why it was funny, but many others did. :flowerforyou:

It's easier to call someone jealous or judgmental than it is to debate intelligently with them. I've almost given up on the forums because it seems that if one actually has an opinion than they are lambasted immediately. Obviously there are going to be things in life that we feel strongly about; why do you have to insult and malign someone just because you don't care about the same things? It makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Respect everyone. I really try hard to live by this every single day.

I know, it's hilarious. I don't envy anyone on here, but have been accused of it when I have disagreed with people.

Edit - for the record, no I don't wish I had bulgy arm muscles or a muscular *kitten*. I quite like mine the way they are, thanks!
