Would it be weird to bring my own scale?

I'd just weigh myself on Monday and be aware that there may be fluctuations.
Consistency is good, but we have to remember not to become slaves to our scales and schedules, too.

The thing is... you're two pounds away from your goal. In my mind, being two pounds from goal is pretty much being at goal. Two pounds is not going to make a huge difference in either direction, unless you're a jockey or wrestler or something where your exact weight is of vital importance.
I'm saying this as someone who used to take my weigh-ins very seriously. Always on the same day of the week, under the same circumstances (TMI, but I had to poop first), and I'd make sure I was very careful in my sodium consumption for several days before, just to get a good weigh-in. Then I realized that I'm not on The Biggest Loser. I'm not going to be eliminated or voted off if I don't drop my x pounds this week. I'm not under any kind of deadline and it doesn't matter if it takes me three weeks or three months to reach any goal, because, in fact, I was already in a healthy range so any further weight I lost was just for vanity anyway.
Since adopting that attitude, I've been much happier, and much more enjoyable to be around.0 -

I get what you're saying, but I'm actually only two pounds away from my first goal. I haven't decided if I want to go further than that, or maintain that for awhile. I do know I have a big event coming up in about 4 weeks that I really want to look my best for. I don't think it's so much about the weigh-in day, per se, but sometimes if I skip a weigh-in, or postpone it, I sort of mentally slack off. Does that make sense? It's kind of like when you know you've gained a lot of weight but if you don't step on the scale, you don't have to acknowledge it. Sometimes if I don't step on the scale, it's like I don't have to acknowledge whether I've been hitting my goal, or maybe screwing up.0 -
I vote for leave it at home, skip the weigh in all together. It will be home waiting for you as incentive... if you weigh often like me, which I read you like to do, knowing that you don't have the scale there might persuade you to make really healthy choices.

I understand the "take the scale" with you side too, but i think there's a fine line between pushing yourself and getting obsessive. If your husband's starting to worry maybe this is for the best. My husband is amazing, he just worries once in awhile that I'll get too skinny and anorexic or something. While I can get obsessive (reason I'm leaning towards leaving the scale at home) I love food way too much to ever go too far to the skinny side. I'm pretty sure my issue will always be at the other end of the spectrum.0 -
I say don't be a slave to the scale. Weigh when you get home. I often go 2-3 weeks in-between weighing. Most of the time, I go by how my skinny jeans fit. This tells me more than the scale does and helps keep me from obsessing about numbers that really don't mean much. I mean, c'mon, a little water retention can put you up a couple of pounds. It happens and it's nothing to worry about.0

I would not bring it. Not specifically because of concerns someone will make fun of you, but just.... how do I say this? I love this journey of getting healthy, too, but living life is number one. I'm not going to start bringing a scale around with me, I just think that's overthinking this all.
I'm not a believer in the slave-to-the-scale mentality, anyway, though, I like to go by my clothes, and if anything keep an eye on my inches. If the scale is 2 ounces off, it's just not a life-changer. I'd just wait the day or two and get on with things.

Keep in mind that even the same scale in a different place can get a different result. Once when I moved mine to a different spot in the bathroom, there was a 2 pound difference. I personally would just wait and weigh in when you get home.0

Do what makes for feel comfortable. As for me, this is a life style change and part of living it to me is learning to stay on track without weighing in. When I go on a business trip or a vacation - I don't take my scale. I weigh when I get home, even if it is on a different day. I do continue tracking my food and work to plan and stay within my calories.

She stated that she weighs herself on Sundays. If she had a doctor's appointment on a Wednesday and Wednesdays was her weigh in day, I don't think she would bring her scale to the doctor's office.
She'll be okay. She can wait until she gets home to weigh herself.0 -

LOL. No. Take them with you. There was a post here a while ago where a guy took his scales with him to the docs so he could compare the results!!

Anecdote.. we drove from the east coast to the west coast to stay there a few months... packed light, though one thing I *did* bring was my beloved WiThings scale.0

In October, my GF and I flew to PA, then drove from Eastern PA to Vermont and then back across the US (my folks are in their 90's so they gave me their car and we drove it home)

I brought my scale with me and weighed every morning. My scale is pretty light and it's less than 1" thick so it was easy to carry it in from the car when we stopped for the night.0 -
I can see doing it on a cross-country trip that would take forever, but for a week or weekend? I think traveling with a scale would fit squarely into the catagory of "sweating the small stuff."

So, we're going to my parents this weekend, which I find to be a challenge for a variety of reasons (I won't go into that now). I'll still be able to log in to MFP, so that's no biggie. The thing is, I have been weighing in on Sundays, and it also seems to be my lowest day of the week weight-wise. (I seem to have fairly steady fluctuations if I track my weight daily).
So, is it weird if I bring my own scale to do my weigh-in? My parents have a spring scale and I'm not really thinking it'll be accurate, never mind the differences between different scales. I'm wondering if my husband will really start worrying that I've gone off the deep-end with this weight stuff. I'm also thinking if I don't do an accurate weigh-in, I'll make that into a reason to go off and eat whatever I want.
So what do you vote: bring my own scale or not?

Apples and oranges. I suspect she would weigh herself at home as usual before going to the doctor. That's what I would do. I can understand both sides, taking the scale with her or leaving it at home, but I don't think a doctor's appointment is analogous to a trip away from home.
