Looks like the results are about 50-50 so far!

The funny part is they sell out in Detroit every time they tour here. A lot of girls I went to high-school with posted on FB that they were going last time...then again (like another poster said)...we did grow up in the 80's and cheese was big!

Just curious what people think? They're scheduled to play the halftime show at the Detroit Lions (vs Green Bay) Thanksgiving Day game, and there's a this huge uproar. People have gone so far as to start a petition saying "we don't want them here",

I agree that it would have been way cooler to have a local artist do it instead, and Nickelback really isn't my cup of tea, but I can certainly think of plenty of acts that are worse in my opinion!

I don't like them but you are right. There are worse. Where were all the haters when the Black Eyed Peas wow'd us at the Superbowl last year?

they pretty much make me want to run my car into a wall if I have to listen to them, luckily there is a thing in MY car, I don't know if you have it but you can change the channels.. makes it okay. Really the band sucks... I just can't deal with their music from what I've heard I can't have rubbish like that in my head.

its the cool thing to say you hate them.. but i think most people actually do like them. I am not afraid to admit I like them.

LOL Sometimes I think that too. But I admit to just not being one of those people who lives and breaths for music. It's a fun background thing I enjoy, it's not my whole life by any stretch, so maybe I just don't get why they're at the level of such a polarizing force.

To me, they seem no more or less sucky than about half the other bands on the radio. I don't hate them, I don't love them, I can sing along to the song or two of theirs I know, and I don't really care if music is intellectually challenging or anything like that, based on the cords-- I just don't. I read and talk for that.

Personally I can`t stand them but each to their own.
As a person with no musical ability or talent I like listening to someone that does have.
They don`t...as I said in another thread I am not sure they could sing Happy Birthday and have the tune recognizable.

I like them. I don't care much if their songs are using the same notes or if their lead singer is nice or not or whatever. I rather see them during halftime than more of Janet Jackson's jewelry collection.

Love is a strong word, but I don't change the radio channel when their songs come on.
My wife, on the other hand, wouldn't so much change the channel as rip the stereo out of the car and throw it as far as she could rather than listen to them.

I like some of there songs. I saw them at the Junos one year and they were pretty good live.

Well put! Ive seen them in concert a few time, and have a few of their CDs, they are a good chick music band, and have catchy songs.

only reason I can think that people wouldn't want them playing at a football game is that they are Canadian.

I like some of their music to workout to. Its loud and gets me pumped but they arent like my favorite band. I agree, some of their songs are wayyyy cheesey and obnoxious mostly the ones played on the radio.

And I actually did wake up singing one of their songs this morning too. But what's a girl to do when the only actual radio she has is in a 94 minivan with a tape deck that won't spit out the cassette that's been in it for over a year - My van only plays Fleetwood Mac.....

So....... I guess from what everyone is saying.....I should go buy a dang radio!

Quite the opposite. Listen to grooveshark.com type in bands you like or even try pandora.com you get some indie bands, obscure bands, errrrr TALENTED bands and you aren't stuck with the same 40 lame bands most people are listening to because they can't get out of the comfort zone. I've noticed a lot in my studies people will only listen to crap radio because that is all they know or their friends know. The internet is a completely wonderful thing and should be utilized!! Good luck.

IDK, a lot of indie bands are indie because they suck, not to say there are not very good ones but IME indie bands are indie for a reason. Granted the music industry requires a lot of luck to get discovered.

I seen them once in concert when they were supporting bon jovi in dublin, they weren't great but their not bad either so i'm really not sure.
