For me was right out of school...Seed germinator. I wrapped seeds in wet towels, marked them and put them into a fridge to be counted at a later date...Oh the excitement, lol.
What was your worst job?

Trust tax accountant. Worked 7 days a week from Jan 2 to April 15, 16 hours per day. The rest of the year, we sat around with nothing to do. The worst part was that I had a 2 month old at home I rarely saw for 3.5 months. Not cool. Only lasted a year...

Working at Aegis as a customer service rep for Comcast.

Me: "Your bill is so high because of all the PPV charges."
Customer: "Well I don't know who ordered all of that porn."
Me: "Well, I never said it was porn, so it must have been you if you know what was ordered."

    *facepalm*
  • I worked at a laboratory taking care of the lab animals. I euthanized a few hundred animals a day. For someone who has made the care of animals their career, this was the worst 2 years of my life. But, it did help me learn how to put a mental block in place- otherwise, my house might be more of a menagerie than it already is!

    A toss-up of 2.

    1. Barista @ a coffee shop. Job itself wasn't that bad cuz of the staff discount on yummy stuff, but owner was a complete douche.
    2. "science explorer" @ the local science center. Was told I was being hired full time, then only got part time hours. So I just hung out with the animals all day cuz my coworkers were all insnae haha It only lasted 2.5 months lol

Sears put me through college. I sold white goods (appliances) and worked on commission. I quit my last semester to cash in my profit sharing to pay tuition and picked up waiting tables at a hotel. Finally graduated and got a "real" job and supplemented my real job's salary by going back to work at sears in plumbing and heating. Hottest summer ever. Sold tons of A/C. LOVED IT! I made more money there than my real job.

Worst job ... scrubbing toilets and sinks at a church camp. But it's all good, now.
  • 1) Dollar store cashier (can you believe people used to try and bargain with me?!? Like "can I get this for 50 cents instead of a dollar? Or, If I buy two, can it be a buck fifty?)

    2) Lifeguard at a hotel pool. 12 hour shifts and sometimes not one single swimmer. BORING.

Live in nanny for two girls and a boy whom I was pretty sure was possessed. I had to hold him down on the floor so he wouldnt hurt his sisters or try and wreck the house.

Staff Accountant at a CPA firm right out of college. Worked so many hours it was unreal. I had 2 children and my youngest was baby thru toddler years. Supposedly a Christian CPA firm where work came before family. Was denied time off to see my oldest's soccer games because they were during tax season. (I went anyway and go wrote up for it. lol) When my kids got sick I was expected to leave them with my dad (who worked too) cause they thought I needed to be at work.

Now I'm a staff accountant at another CPA firm where its pretty much come and go as you please. Love it!!

The time I worked for the circus and had the job of circumcising the elephants.
The paycheck was pretty small, but the tips were enormous.

Dish washer. We had a broken garbage disposal, so you would have to reach into the sink and scoop it all out by hand. Made below minimum wage, and had to punch out to eat, so I never punched out. Would got 12-16 hour shifts w/o eating as a 15 year old. Wed sneak into the kitchen and steal food sometimes, or if the cooks had made something in the kitchen and then brought th plate to be clean and their was leftovers, wed eat from that. Disgusting i know, but like I said, we never got lunch breaks

This. And cocktail waitressing for this bar that caters to Palm Beach's 20-something's. You can't buy class, apparently.

    Verizon wireless call center.

Should seriously qualify for PTSD counseling after that one. Gained weight, no libido, no lively-ness, played very little music.
Nightmares before work days. Worst time of my life.

I worked at a grocery store and a martial arts studio; both jobs included cleaning bathrooms. Scrubbing a urinal that 200 little boys use is the WORST!!!

Edit: I didn't technically get paid for working at the martial arts studio. I got a $5/hr credit for my classes because I couldn't afford them otherwise.
  • WOW!! I enjoyed the fact that I am/was not alone, thanks everyone.:drinker:
  • Being a E-1 in the Army forever because I couldn't make weight.

Being that low in rank, you get treated badly.
  • Few years ago we had unexpected family moving in with us, so I worked the night shift at Walmart - stocking shelves, to help with the added expenses.
I only did it for 3 weeks though, right before Christmas time. Worst job in my life. I didn't mind speed walking all night long, hauling heavy boxes and loosing at least 10 pounds - but I had no life. I slept all day long, ate very little (mainly because I was busy sleeping) and I looked like a Zombie.

Telemarketer. I lasted a whole two weeks before I quit. They probably would have fired me anyway. I wasn't pushy enough. I felt bad about bothering people at home so when they said, "NO!" I'd apologize for bothering them and hang up.

I forgot about that one!! I did it for 1/2 a day. I 'went for lunch'... but I actually caught a bus, went home, and never looked back!! Awful job, I feel bad for those who do that full-time. :S

I worked in collections for a well known credit card company. If I wasn't getting verbally abused, then I was feeling depressed for the person's sad story (some were awful & heart wrenching). They either could pay & just didn't want to OR they wanted to pay, but just couldn't. That's an over simplification, but you get the idea. NOT a fun job.

I worked at McDonald's at my first job when I was 16. My hands still have scars from the fryer and dropping grease on my hands.
