Do people actually wear spanx?

I wear a girdle-type garment maybe once a month or so, mostly with dresses and such, since there is nothing to hold you in in a dress. I like how they make me feel slimmer, and smooth everything out. I wore one with my Halloween costume went I went out to the bars, and since mine has a little bit of legs on it, I tucked my phone and ID into it!! haha it worked very well!!0

I wear more of a girdle (sometimes and it depends all on what I wear) but I always wanted spanx.0

I had some I wore under dresses. Honestly they do make everything look nice and smooth.
I once mentioned wearing some under a dress when siggy and I were going to a wedding.
And he mentioned if I did that we probably wouldn't be having relations that evening.
it seems, men do not find them attractive. lol0 -
I wear spanx at weddings and what not, it smoothes everything out0

I got some advice from a MFP that she wore spanx for working out in that it helped her with the loose skin and her workouts. So I am not wearing spanx but I went to Walmart and bought a elastic band about 8 inches wide and I have been wearing it for workouts now for about 4 weeks, not sure what it will do but I am giving it a try, can't hurt.0

i just lost over 80 lbs, so i have that weird extra tummy skin, and the spanx just help to keep it a little flatter and firmer. i figure it's cheaper than surgury...so, yeah...i wear spanx lol
but i don't wear them on a regular basis though...just when i have to dress up and stuff.0 -
I decided to try on some generic spanx in a department store. I usually wear a medium to large so I tried on a large. Well, wrong choice. I got stuck trying to get into the thing. 20 to 30 minutes later I finally got out of the thing. I will never, ever try one on again. : D
OMG that was funny (probably not for you), and the same thing happened to me. I got one in my closet but I never wore it, too hot where I live. Control top panty hose is the only thing that I can deal with without melting, and only in the winter.0 -
I wore spanx lacey tights today with a clingy sweater dress - because they look better under a clingy dress than other tights, and certainly better than going commando (I'm slim, but I still have fluffy areas), and certainly don't want panty lines . . .
I have the plain spanx too, and the kind that is not so tight over your bootie, so it doesn't flatten it out -- those are the best in my opinion under anything clingy.0 -
No more panty lines. I read the story of the inventor/owner of the company. She invented them to eliminate panty lines, not as a girdle type garment.
Anything is uncomfortable if you buy the wrong size.
That might be the diff between folks who love 'em and folks who hate 'em. Maybe it's a size/fit issue.
BTW - thongs also get rid of panty lines... just sayin'.
thongs do get rid of panty lines, but they leave all the fluff exposed. I don't like that fluffy look.0 -
I'm a Spanx fan! I agree that if you get the right size, they're not too bad. I also agree that they aren't the most attractive undergarment! I see people often to whom I'd love to introduce Spanx!0

Geez okay i know what spanx are but isnt it the same thing as a girdel? And what about tights and leggings what are the difference btween them two then you have running pants then compression pants. Geez it is all over whelming lol0

oh ha ha ha. show me a man who would truly say no to the opportunity for consensual sex bc he finds the underwear unattractive.0 -

RE: thongs. I don't think they're that helpful. Only g-strings, v-strings, and some tangas lack panty lines I think! Most thongs have too much fabric, odd as it sounds.0 -
I wear Spanx under dresses - they help the dress fit better and my thighs don't rub together when I wear them.
If your skinny friend is wearing them, perhaps she has a pair that aren't as 'strong' - they make a range of fits, from just minimal to extreme.
I find them comfortable - if only a bit hot and hard to get out of.0 -

LOL I'm pretty sure my guy friends don't even know what spanx are, yet alone have strong opinions on them :P0 -

So I did some research from a MFP that posted something about spanx and here is what she wrote about it.....now this person has lost over 150 pounds so I think it gives her some credit.....
A couple lil Secrets I have learned along the Way...
(Just so you know us chunky monkey's can have loose skin but here is my secret I have learned and it works)
Ok.. loose skin:::: well I was very scared about that and yes I still have some, but I have also had 3 babies so it's not all going to go away.. the secret is to not let it be to bad is to buy yourself a spanks a size smaller than you are to help suck in your loose skin while exercising.. "it works" it's like tightening your muscles for you instead of sitting there trying to suck your gut in the whole time during your workout... you will notice a big difference within the first 2 weeks.. flabby skin like bat wings and loose skin between your legs.. It's all about finding the right toning exercise while you are losing weight, tone as you go!!!0 -
I don't wear the pant/short type - but I have bodysuits I wear under dresses - I hate being able to see
any type of undergarment lines, this prevents that.0 -
My mom runs a blog for women over 45, stillblondeafteralltheseyears.com , and she was given a pair, or a competing brand for free. She said they worked, but I think she just got irritated putting them on0

How do you keep your your spanx compression bra top from rolling up?0

It wasn't funny at the time but looking back now I think it was very funny. I just won't do a repeat performance.:laugh:0
