Romaine, mixed bag lettuce, cucumber, tomato, peas, cauliflower, carrot, maybe celery. The best part recently is my homemade balsamic vinagrette! Yum. :) I need to find good meat to put on the salad though. Gets pretty boring if you don't mix it up!
  • Pretty much all of the above (including the steak!) but dependent on what I'm eating with it I'll use either a balsalmic vinaigrette or an olive oil based dressing. If I'm having cheese on it; it has to be Feta as in:

Crumbled feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, diced red onions, olive oil and lemon juice served on a bed of chopped iceberg lettuce! Yummy and a great starter! :o)

    spinach
    arugula
    jicama
    chickpeas
    olives
    feta
    tomatoes
    cucumbers
    tofu
    peas
    olive oil
    raspberries
    egg
    avocado
    candied walnuts
  • I tend to put whatever veggies are in my fridge into my salad. Some salad staples are:

    -romaine lettuce + baby spinach
    -cherry/grape tomatoes
    -cucumber
    -green pepper
    -mushrooms

Dressing-wise, I love all by Newman's Own and Seeds of Change.

  • Leafy greens (usually romaine and spinach)
    cucumbers
    green peppers
    Yogurt dressing or Light Italian
    Sometimes black olives
French's onion strings (just a little to replace the crunch of the croutons)
If I really need it to be light then I'll go for almonds or pistachios in place of the onion strings

when i go to this salad place called chop stop i get :

    spinach/lettuce mix
    garbanzo beans
    grilled chicken
    tomatos
    cucumbers
    black beans
    lemon vinagerrette

when i make salad at home i usually do
    spinach mix
    strawberries
    candied pecans
and make my own dressing : 2 tbsp of olive oil 1 tbsp of balsamic, a dash of salt and brown sugar

so much healthier to make your OWN dressings or use a lemon based one. just because it says reduced fat or low fat doesnt make it good, most salads are higher in cal/fat then burgers and people think they are eating healthy but they are adding on the wrong toppings and dressings!

Hubs will smoke a huge salmon filet for me nearly every weekend, then I divide that up for salads. So nearly daily I have a Smoked Salmon Salad - the salmon is seasoned with just minced garlic and dill, yummy! Love it on mixed field greens and baby spinach - grape tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, etc etc... fabulous!

For dressing I love Walden Farms Bacon Ranch - Sugar Free/Fat Free/Carbohydrate Free/Gluten Free/Cholesterol Free.

And NO, it's NOT "Flavor-Free".. it has amazing Bacon Ranch flavor!

    Lentils
    Chick peas
Baked crispy pita bread (measured and used in moderation of course!)
    Hard boiled eggs
    Various shredded vegetables
    dried cranberries
    Chicken
    taco meat
    Chili
    raisins
    sprouts
    cashews
    pistachios
    homemade italian
    balsalmic vinegar
    lemon juice/olive oil/salt
Half mixed field greens and half iceberg (yeah I know it has zero nutrition but I love it)

Of course this does not all go on the same salad.. but these are my standard "go to" ingredients that I choose from. A salad for me can easily go over 600 calories of deliciousness... which is fine because it really is a complete meal!
