Water vs. Coke

Seen this posted @ the gym and found it really interesting. Just thought I would share. Never knew they used coca-cola for so many different things!

WATER

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world population. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied (in a University of Washington study). Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

COKE

In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the 'Hazardous Material' place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

What does coke do to u?

* In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.

* 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat.

* 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.

* 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

Anything put u off?

It's one massive crock of bullsh*t, but that being said I very seldom drink regular soft drinks.

If you don't want to drink it then don't. I'm not saying it's good for you, but I used to drink soda for most of my life and it hasn't corroded my insides yet.

Put off? Whatever for? If Coke can clean a toilet, blood off the street, and dissolve a T-bone, just think how clean my insides are.

Actually I have cut way back on soda since joining MFP, but it was mostly from seeing the calories rack up in my food diary.

This is my favorite. You know what I clean with? Vinegar and water. Just because you can clean with it doesn't make it toxic.

I know someone that worked for coke and the part about using it to clean up blood and clean engines is true. Also the part about the T-bone, we did this experiment in 5th grade.
However, just the thought of putting 10 teaspoons into my body at one time is enough to make me stop.

No. Because I've been hearing those so-called "truths" about Coke being told for as long as I can remember.

And that is all they are: scaremongering to frighten people (they were all probably invented by Pepsi)

HAHA! Yes! Anyway, I drink Diet Coke. I am a known addict several states over. I'm not saying I would die without it, but it is part of my emergency/zombie apocalypse stash!

This is an OLD story. Snopes debunked most of the Coke BS "uses".

I used to be a Dr. Pepper addict. Now, everything about soda is disgusting to me! Gross!
  • Wow, I am shocked at how much resistance that everyone has on this post. It really struck a nerve with everyone. Coke is completely acidic. It has a pH of 2.5. The same as vinegar!

Who would want to drink a can full of vinegar and some sugar?!?! Not me!

Diet Coke isn't much better coming in at pH of 3.2.

And this isn't just for coke either!!! Pepsi is 2.5 and so is RC cola at 2.3.

She is just making a point how harsh this is for everyone...not to mention the amount of sodium in their that causes you to retain water no matter what pop you drink diet or not.

Here is the website I got my facts: http://quittingsoda.com/post/the-acidity-ph-of-soda-pop

Next time you drink a coke....think of the vinegar you use to scrub your toilet!!!

GoalSeeker1988....I'm with you on this one. I'm sorry people have to be so rash.

If it's about to rain and youre driving pour coke on your windshield. It acts like rainx for about 30 minutes. The water will bead off.

Eye roll. Show me the dead bodies from consuming these "acidic" drinks. Till then it's nothing more than alarmism.

Why on earth would you obsess over PH?

EDIT: I believe lemon and lime juice come in lower than 2.5, grapes and most berries aren't far from this value either.

Part of me thinks you're just being sarcastic but part of me thinks you're actually serious.

But surely someone can't be suggesting that vinegar is bad for you. No. I'm going with sarcasm.

If you're scared of a little citric acid you must be terrified of oranges, lemons and limes.

I understand the whole, "Don't tell me what to do. Just b/c you don't want to drink soda, doesn't mean I have to stop" mentality. I do not drink soda and have never been a big soda drinker.... unless accompanied by liquor... ha! (double whammy of calories for ya!... go big or go home) psh.. BUT... I doooo, however, appreciate this post. I always like random information about things being consumed by many in our daily lives. The human body is simply extraordinary and if all of this is true about coke... what machines we are! Thanks for this post!

Well yes, this would be a pretty interesting post if any of the information in it were true! Why are you grateful for false information?

in my mind, jack is a base, so it counteracts the acidity in coke, so yes, it becomes healthier! :D
