So do you think I would be able to loose my weight (specifically in the stomach area) faster with weight training added. I was doing 60 minutes of cardio and strength training on one day then on alternate days just 60 minutes of cardio. Now I have just been doing 150 minutes of cardio.

From my experience, I lose more size and inches when I do a combo of strength and cardio in my weekly routine. Pounds lost may or may not be different, I honestly haven't noticed. But, when I lose a dress size, I couldn't care less if I only weigh 1 pound less or if I weigh 10 pounds less. For me, body fat (inches lost) is more important because people don't look at me and see a scale number, they see a size.

I love to run, so cardio is my preference, but I try to keep a balance. RIght now I'm strenght training 3-4 days a week and running on the alternate days. My running is usually done in high intensity intervals (jog 5 mph/run 7 mph).

I prefer cardio. I like feeling my HR going up. I don't mind doing weights, but I prefer cardio.

    I HATE stretching.

edit, by cardio, I mean running mostly. Quite fast, off road.

I greatly prefer cardio. Cardio workouts leave me happier, more relaxed, lessed stressed and in a much better mood than before I worked out. DH has even noticed a huge difference in my happiness when I've been working out and we even argue less. The improved mood is awesome and a great motivator to wanting to exercise every day. I've got bipolar disorder and my bipolar is much better controlled (in conjunction with meds) since I started doing cardio too. I wish I had discovered the joys of cardio when I was younger rather than only 2 years ago. I'm totally hooked now.

Strength training? It doesn't do jack for improving my mood. I do it because I know it is important but I generally do the minimum needed for good health. I'll admit it is nice when exercises start getting easier so that I can raise the amount of weight since that is a sign I'm improving my strength, but I still hate strength training anyway. I'm actually really stunned at the number of people who say they prefer strength training.

Try adding Tae Bo Insane Abs to your routine, you will see a difference.
  • Strength training - I love being stronger than most of my other female friends.

I'm beginning to like strength a bit more because I have planned routines now, but I'd rather do cardio. Cardio is faster(time wise) and fits into my schedule better then weights.

So now you are advocating spot reduction of the stomach area by doing Tae Bo? Hmmm.

Ab routines will strengthen the core, no doubt, but WILL NOT EVER make your stomach flatter, less fatty, etc. It takes a calorie deficit to remove the fat. And your body does not let you pick where it comes from. You just keep on doing cardio, strength training, and eating at a deficit and you will get there.
