    Hannah:

It's one of my biggest pet peeves when people hide behind their computers and say things that they would NEVER have the guts to say to someone's face. However, these comments make us feel alone-but hopefully they encourage you all the more-keep up the good work-you look great!

Oh yeh-your name is awesome BTW :)

Well, if those two are fat cows, I wish I were a fat cow. :)
  • People who say crap like that are really just unhappy with their own lives but are too lazy to fix it so they take it out on others. Keep your chin up and ignore people like that. They aren't worth the time. :)
  • I honestly think the dress looks better on Kelly. I in no way think she is fat. She is gorgeous and so are YOU!

My daughter (almost 2) recently called me fat. I had to fight the tears and explain (even though she doesn't understand) that those words are hurtful and that mommy may be bigger ( I never really thought so until now) but that means that I have more love to give to her. =)

Also, what is up with the media comparing 30 year old Christina to 19 year old Christina. My family does this same exact thing to me too, oh you used to be so skinny! YEAH when I was a CHILD. Ugh!

They do this with Brittney Spears too. *_* Its like WHAT THE FOOOOOK!

I would recommend not letting this kind of stuff bother u though~I just saw a question online, "Is it normal to fantasize about people you know?" and the question continued, "There is a girl in my class who I have sexual fantasies about. Is this normal?" XD haha

My point is...this world takes all kinds of ppl ^^

theyre not fat, but those dresses make them LOOK fat. Not flattering at all.

Just because you can squeeze into something, does not mean you should wear it

I don't know what it is but people are extra harsh on celebrities if they gain even a couple of pounds. It's sad really. Especially considering that the people making the comments are probably walking train wrecks themselves.

They are both overweight, clearly. The question should be, why does anyone care? They are famous for their voices, and Christina has an amazing voice. No one criticises opera singers for being fat. It's generally thought to help their voices.

So yeah, they are a little on the podgy side, but why is that seen as a reason for criticism? Why does anyone care?

Oh and I laughed at the comment "Xtina looked great pre-pregnancy. What happened?"

    DUR. PREGNANCY.

because theyre famous and are wearing unforgiving super-tight dresses.

if noone cared about celebrities, neither of them would be in as much work as they are. Being criticised is as much part of it as being adulated

I would agree about models and maybe film stars, but they are famous for their voices, not their figures, and as I said, no one criticises opera singers for their weight. It's a weird different standards thing going on. TBH I hadn't heard of the Kelly one until this thread. Is she famous?
  • Wow, some of those comments are foul.

I think both women look good. I wonder how many of their critics have that sort of talent and success (and look even half as good in their clothes).

In life it pays to be very selective about what feedback one takes on board.
  • Btw, when opera singers move into the mainstream they certainly attract lots of flak for their weight. I remember Monserrat Caballe being called 'Monster Fat Caballe' after she did her Barcelona duet with Freddie Mercury.

Having said that I don't recall anybody calling Pavarotti anything like as nasty a name, so maybe all the spleen is reserved for women.

Yup, it's a tough life if you actually manage to achieve anything during your short time on earth.

I think that is very true.

I dont think any singer these days is only famous for their voice. You rarely get an unnattractive singer that becomes famous and stays popular. Certainly for women anyway. I can only think of Susan Boyle.

Its sad that this is the case, but as you can see by the OP, its the general public as a whole that perpetuates it, probably even more than the music industry itself

I'm reading the comments on TMZ and I have tears in my eyes. How can people be so cruel??
I don't like Christina Aguilera much, but I LOOOVVEE Kelly Clarkson. Ever since she was on American Idol she has always been my favorite singer. I think Kelly looks great...yeah, she's gained a little weight, but we all gain and lose weight at different times of the year. I think it's pretty hypocritical for those internet trolls to rag on her weight, especially at this time of year.

I think Kelly looks good! I don't like she wears bigger dresses, as they add weight to her.

You are right...people are mean. People forget words do hurt..whether via email, text, in person, or tweet or whatever media...people need to be careful what they say.
When I was bigger I had folks say all kinds of things to me to my face. So do people really believe bc I was overweight, big people don't have feelinfgs??? So you can say anything and I won't be offended or hurt?
All of us go thru hard times in our lives and have struggles. To berate someone versus helping them is just pure hatred. I don't know much about Kelly but I have heard Cristina has a lot of emotional pain in her life....she may be struggling now. I don't like TMZ all they do is slander people..pious and arrogant. Humph!!!!!!
