I'm not even close to most of the ladies on this post, but I do get some looks in the gym even for these weights. I just started on January 6:

    Incline Chest Press (DBs): 90#
Squat (BB, on back, not smith): 135#
    Deadlift (BB): 115#
    Military Shoulder Press (DBs): 80#

I am also having my husband read this because he thinks I shouldn't continue for much longer (even though I have no change in measurements yet) and I shouldn't do any heavier weights... thanks for the fuel! Hopefully, I can be as strong as you all one day!

WHAT?!?! Tell your husband to be supportive and spot you instead of try to keep you down! I got into lifting because my boyfriend helped me get into it! Now we compete in powerlifting meets together! He pushes me to go heavier every session! There is no reason for you NOT to keep going and aim for big numbers! Pick a big number and go for it Girly! He should be helping you get it!

No, no, I don't mean to make him sound like he's poo-pooing it. He has always encouraged me to lift and to lift heavier, but he has had gone through his own lifting super heavy stage - like 2 reps. And he got huge. He's not very tall, like 5'6" and he was having problems with large shirts fitting over his arms and shoulders but the length would be far too long. He liked feeling big and strong at the time, but maturity has set in, and he doesn't want to be proportioned like that ever again. So he was leary of me continuing this for too long or too heavy and getting to a point where I look like tank. I keep telling him about all you guys that have been doing this for along time and none of you look like you bench press a small truck (even though I am sure some of you could).

Bumping...I am becoming increasing more interested in lifting heavier weights.

This...I thought I was lifting pretty heavy till I read this! Way to go ladies! Love that! Going to increase and seek out more info:-)
  • Anyway - I have been doing some research because I want to change up my lifting routine. Can people start posting what a typical week routine is for them? I was looking at doing 5 x 5s.

Just to get the ball rolling, this is the program I am following now:

    Day 1
    Unassisted Sit-Ups
    Incline Chest Press

    Day 2
    Squats, (back, barbell, not smith)
    Calves (squat press machine)

    Day 3
    Supine Chin Ups
    Tricep Dips

    Day 4
    Deadlifts
    Military Shoulder Press

    Phase 1 - 4 weeks - 6 sets x 5 reps

    Phase 2 - 4 weeks - 10 sets x 3 reps (just finished week 1 of phase 2)
