I think I was 6...it was the cowgirl Barbie...the one that winked and had a horse. I wasn't really into Barbies, though, I was too busy trying to keep up with the boys.

My daughter, however, is in LOVE!!!! with Barbies, and got her first several last week, when she turned 3. My ILs bought her the entire "princess" set and then she got the "birthday Barbie" from my mom. I hope she outgrows this phase quickly.

Well this isn't what I expected with that title.

Haha, me either. I was expecting something about periods.

But to the OP - I know I was younger than 6. My three main loves as a child were: 1) playing outside, 2) Barbies, and 3) Batman. I was HARDCORE about my Barbies. My best friend and I set up elaborate stories and plots. The summer of the '96 Olympics, Ken doll was Bela Karoli (spelling), and our Barbies were Kerri Strug and Dominique Moceaunu. (I'm totally butchering all the spellings.)

My step-daughter has several Barbies, and I think she first started getting them when she was 4-5.

And yet we still jumped in, even with the warning.

I got my first Barbie when I was born! a 1987 Bride Barbie. She is still in the box. I think i got barbies almost every year but I collect them. I only opened a few and they were to blow up with my GI joe haha :) i was not a typical girl.
