I just had this the other day. (Well, ALOT in the past!) but I was trying to take a face shot of myself for one of those hair & makeup sites. OMG I look like crap! Funny, I look in the mirror & say ok, you look good. Then I see it from a camera & think OMG it's no wonder I'm single, I'm hideous. :-(

aww i know exactly how you feel girl but never think the reason you single coz you over weight. if a guy really loves you for who you are then he would look past that but i do totally understand what you mean. I heard that if you walk with confidence even if you 500 pounds you will still turn heads because of your spirit ... :)

    Yes, yes, yes!

I'd didn't realize how I looked until one day my hubby took a picture of me in one of my new dresses to send to my mom.... I thought, it can't be me... how'd I get to look like that??!!! (although I know what happened, marriage and a husband that kept brining home cookies and ice cream when he shopped and I love both of those!) I didn't do anything for another 6 - 8 months because I was angry with myself. What a stupid excuse. Then I decided I wanted to have that picture taken and go OMG! I look that great (hot!!), like I did 4 years ago. Then I took a sonme pictures a couple of weeks ago so I can watch my progess as I journey on MFP and I thought, I want to BURN the photos and NEVER see them again! I sure hope that I can make some progress. It's been a struggle.....

yeah beginning sucks a little.. but wait until ur a year in and! then u take a after picture and look at it n think "frig i look awesome!!!" n u look at the before pic n go omg i used to look like that?

I hope your right :) and i hope i stick with my diet (or healthy living i wanna call it) and get to where i wanna be. :) you looking good btw!

beginning is hard... once u get through the first 3 months or so it will become a full out lifestyle.. it wont even phase u n u wont even think about how much u have to eat or if u need to excersise etc.. u will just automatically do it! i workout 6 days a week n on the 7th, my 1 day off i sometimes still go to the gym cuz i get bored n im used to going everyday lol so just first 3-4 months dont make any excuses do what i did.. exercise before you can talk urself out of it.. do it if ur sick, tired, busy, hurting or w/e ur excuse might be.. once u start.. u will get a burst of energy and will have a amazing workout!! like im stupid to the extent that when im sick i will call my work tell them i cant come in.. meanwhile im getting ready to go to the gym... if i can walk im there lol

Haha woow you really determined with your exercise routine... lol you rather would miss work then gym! :)

yeah your right about everything you said but i also heard it takes about two weeks for your body to get used to the new life style routine.

I have brought myself a cross trainer since thats the only thing i ever use at the gym lol so that way i dont make excuses not to go the gym and just end up paying gym membership for nothing.

and got some pilates and carido dvd workout so i think that should do for now.. and ill use maybe empty bottles for now and fill them up with rice as dumb-bells! :)
  • Last Halloween.

It wasn't actually my picture, but a pic of me in a friend's Facebook album. I actually did a double-take. There was no way that that fat girl bursting out of my favourite dress was actually me. I had felt really pretty that night, but looking at my double-chin and arms like hams, I couldn't believe my eyes.

It took me another three months to actually get up the nerve to do something about it, but that was a horrible experience.

Wow, i know how you feel. Even after losing 13 lbs from starting, and finally taking my before pix, I feel like that can't be me!

I have avoided social situations (for a few reasons) over the past 4 or so years, and I'm really hoping to get back to it soon. I miss my friends, and socializing.

I'm in month 1? and I find this site so supportive. And I've seen and made friends with people bigger and smaller than me (at starting point, and at their current weight) because I need to be reminded that it could always get worse, but I have the power to make it better.

I looked back at a picture from 2002. I was probably around my heaviest then. A humungus 308 lb !!(about) For some reason I never thought I looked as big as I was. I was like OMG WTF did I do to myself!?!?!? Why did I ever let that happen? But it is to me a sign never ever go back there. I'm not sure if I'll ever be a skinny minnie, but I know I will never go back there.
  • I went on holiday with my family and partners sister, hubby and her kids..... This was 2010 and i was deffo at my heaviest, around 240lbs (at a guess) Now my sis in law is probably what you would call too small she cant be more than 7 stone (98lbs) and thats only a guess too... Well there is a picture of us both on beach and when i saw it at home i ran into bathroom crying.... I am hhhuuugggeee..... It was the wake up call needed to get myself onto here.....What makes it worse is that she is in process of trying to gain some weight, soo unfair... lol...
  • all the time! cant wait until i'm at my goal weight!

Oh yesss, I look back at my pictures and I am so proud of what I have accomplished so far, and even sometimes when I am feeling discouraged I would go back and look at those picture and remind myself that I need to keep going and reach my goals. Like they say "A picture speaks a thousand words "

Oh yeah...all the time. For a few years I wouldn't even appear in a photo. I'm getting better now though, still not 100% happy with my body but I'll get there.

Today was my OMG day!! I decided to take "before" pics in a 2 piece I would sometimes wear to they gym. Now I'm absolutely embarassed that I ever tortured people with the sight of me in that 2 piece...UGH!! I'm holding onto those pics as my motivation!! I want to look back at them & say YOU DID IT GIRLY!! Plus all the mfp success stories with their before/after pics are a huge motivation to keep on keepin'!! I'm gonna have a before pic of me on my cell to push me to make better lifestyle choices. When I see my after pic I do want to say OMG!! Girl you are HOTT!!

Yes, Last year's Christmas party. It didn't help that I was sitting in a booth too small for me and the girl sitting next to me weighs probably 100 pounds soaking wet. I refer to it as my "Jabba the Hut" picture. It is my motivation!

Sure... it started about five years ago when I hit 30. Until then I'd weighed between 115 and 120 since I was 16. I went up to 150 at the highest about 3 years ago. I'm 5'7" but I have a petite frame, so ANY weight gain looks like more on me, in my opinion. Plus the fat under the chin really, really annoyed me to no end. That HAD to go. Pictures just didn't look like me. It was like looking at some other person. No one really seemed to think it was that bad, but I sure did. It did a number on my self-confidence for a couple of years and then I quit drinking and eating late at night. That made all the difference. When I quit drinking I shed fat immediately and effortlessly. Now I'm starting to work on building muscle as I near my goal weight again.

Honestly, I wish I had taken that OMG picture. I so hated the way I looked I didn't want to see it. But now, I've lost some weight I'd love to compare. I'm a teacher and they always take our school picture...mine was taken before weight loss so that's all I have to go on is the face. Huge difference! I do have a picture from my neice's wedding last May. Thought I looked so good in a new dress...picture with my 2 sisters. One is a PE teacher and very fit...the other has always been the biggest. Well, she looked better than me and it was upsetting. Maybe I'll dig that one out!

Ugh totally! All the before & after pics in the Success Stories board got me inspired to take a before shot. Well the front and side views were no surprise but the shot from behind shocked me!!! I had no idea my arms and back look so FAT!! Of course I'm keeping the pics though for my after shot.

Omg yes i know what you mean. When i also looked at the back picture.. i couldn't believe it that's how i must look to people from the back. it was upsetting its also my motivation to loose it :)
  • I saw a picture of me leading my son around on a pony and my bum was bigger than the pony's! I wanted to cry! Amazing as it sounds, that did NOT spur me to loose the weight though! I buried myself deeper in food and baggy clothes.

What did it for me is knowing I am likely to get diabetes, and then sitting next to my partner at work, watching her test her blood 4 times a day. Even though I knew what happens, I didn't do anything about it until I actually saw it every single day while she suffered through gestational diabetes. Now I have been working at it for just over 70 days and lost 5 pounds so far.

Good luck and don't give up!

Lol. I wish I could be 70kg. Long time till then!

I just got the team photo that will be in all the programs. Let me tell you being 115kg in a photo full of fit 15 year olds is not a good thing. Cried all last night. And that's after losing 20kg! I'm doing this so I can look at a photo and not cry.

Yeah, totally! Someone took a picture of me in 2009 and tagged me on Facebook, and I was like "No f**king way." And that get me going in my losing weight journey (slow... but I lost around 40plus pounds).

    All the time.
  • I sure have....just yesterday.
  • I was on a cruise last winter and someone from far away on an overlook took a pic of me with OTHERS in a hot tub and I was mortified at what I saw. I can't believe I looked like that! I didn't get very far but at least I improved a little I hope.

A reunion picture in August was my wake-up call! Fortunately, I found this website 4 or 5 days later, and I'm getting back to "normal" much more quickly than I packed on the pounds. Thank God for MFP!

I feel like that everytime I see my "before" photo....I keep looking at it thinking "no way", even my husband is in denial of how I used to look.
