Maybe I'm missing something.

Yep seems quite high, it would take me 50 min to burn that much...0

If this came up on your homepage notifications:
"Annonymous" just burned 610 calories doing 20 minutes of "Elliptical Trainer" ...
Is this possible for an average 'overweight' person? What would your comment be?
I'm known to be a little too outspoken, and don't want to offend someone by stating... "That sounds too high for that exercise and length of time."
However, I'm one that will eat every single exercise calorie and know that if my calorie estimation is off, I won't see the results i'm hoping for.
PS. I know that if someone has a lot to lose the burn is much higher, but this doesn't seem to be the case. :flowerforyou:
I don't say anything anymore; I used to. Not only are there lots of different factors that can effect actual burned cals, but there also plenty of people on here that are estimating high on purpose, for various reasons. So I've kinda gone silent on giving that type of advice cuz it's usually not worth it. The person basically has to really start asking genuinely "why am I not losing" type of questions before I'll finally bring up the trend that SO many folks have of underestimating cals eaten and overestimating cals burned. Some people just have to learn by hard experience.0 -
I know my activity postings look something like this: cpanasuk just burned 510 calories including xxxxx..." And, it's a summary of three different postings I've made in that journal including mid-day walk, 30 minutes elliptical and strength trainng at the gym. Perhaps you can't see everything that is posted in the person's exercise journal?0

It depends on the size of the person doing the exercise. Someone who has more weight to lose will burn more in a shorter period of time than someone who has less weight to lose.
Not necessarily, MFP comes out with this ridiculous calorie takes when you just put the minutes in... I go by what my little monitor says and between it and MFP lay 600cal!0 -

If it's showing the combined calories for several different activities, it's supposed to also show the combined minutes of all your exercises. I think. Like 'anonymous just burned 3 trillion calories doing 4 thousand minutes of cardio including xxxx'. It will only list 1 activity but it should list combined calories as well as combined exercise minutes. I think.0 -
I can easily burn 300 in 20 minutes if I am hauling *kitten* on the elliptical. Then as I leave the gym I am manually typing it in on my phone. Maybe it was a typo and they meant 3000
