I made these the other night with a little varriation...I put carrots, celery, onion, and fresh garlic in my food processor until it was finely chopped. Cooked that up with my ground turkey. When it was fully cooked, I added cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, and enough low-sodium soy sauce to give the meat a little liquid. It was fantastic! Thanks for the idea!0

For a lower sodium option to the pack of taco seasoning, mix the following spices toghether:
Chili powder
Cumin
Corriander
Oregano (optional)
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste.
This way you control the amount of sodium you put in the dish.0 -

Super simple, quick, and easy!!!
Of course you could use ground beef, shredded chicken, fajita meat or whatever you fancy; but in my version I used ground turkey…
What you’ll need:
-Head of lettuce
-Ground turkey
-Onions (I use red onions)
-Minced Garlic
-Taco seasonings (don’t use the whole packet)
- Any other seasonings you desire
I personally like to wash and separate my lettuce leafs before I start cooking, that way when I’m done I can jump right in.. LOL.. They don't have to be perfect you're basically filling them with the meat and folding...
Cooking the ground turkey:
- I use Pam Olive Oil spray and spray the pan
- Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for 3-5 minutes
- Add turkey meat and season with whatever seasonings you want BUT DON’T ADD the TACO seasoning until all the meat has been cooked… That way you can tell the meat has been cooked all the way, adding the seasoning will mask it…
I use garlic powder, Italian seasoning, pepper, cumin, tiny bit of Adobo seasoning… Don’t have adobo, use a little salt… Or don’t.. It’s up to you…
Once the meat is all cooked, then add your taco seasoning… Then you’re finished!!
I log this by weighing out my portions of the ground turkey by ounces, guessing on the red onions and lettuce…0 -
Sounds great! Thanks! Holly from Dallas,Texas0
