Do people try to guess your weight

I get people guessing my weight constantly at the gym, but why do people keep guessing I weigh so much more than my actuaI weight
I'm 5'9" and currently 155 pounds trying to bulk up to 165 pounds, then go on a cut down to 160 pounds or so, but people keep guessing that I'm anywhere from 170-190 pounds

Yup! All the time. I get varied guesses. from 110-145 pounds xD0

maybe they are judging by how much the weights you lift weigh. it would be easier to understand someone that has a weight of 200 pounds lifting 250 pounds than someone weighing 150 pounds and lifting 250 pounds.
no no one guesses my weight0 -
I love when people try to guess my weight. They usually think I weigh less than I do so I say keep the guesses comin'! lol.0

Always my family xD "You are too thin, are you 110 pounds??" or the guy at work "My girlfriend is a little smaller than you, about 145 pounds." LOL
I think I did this exact face:

yip i always get about 5kgs lighter than what i am - so its nice haha0

Yes and since they are WAY low it is kind of flattering.......except the whole "you are too skinny and you have no curves thing" mostly from family......0

Yea it's quite hurtful when they try to guess mines lol. My cousin in August said "You must weigh close to 200".....I said um nooo..... I am 175 now (while eating a huge breadstick lol) .... Kind of hurt my feelings (my highest weight was 195 but that was noticable months and months ago....Now I have lost 24 pounds to date. I cant wait until the day when someone tries to guess my weight and say, "Hey you look about 135 pounds" and I will say.. "Yup! Thanks to MFP!" .... Yup I hope that happens by March 2012 and it will!0

Ahh! Nobody has tried to guess my weight, I think no matter what they said, I'd end up upset! LOL0

They usually think I'm 110 to 115, but I weigh about 30 lbs more.0

Nope, why would you even bother trying to guess someone's weight unless they asked? Strange people.0

It's crazy how people, family and/or strangers, think it's appropriate to guess to ask about your weight. But yeah people try to guess mine all the time and always guess wayyyy under.
I'm a solid 135 and I get guesses of 115-ish all the time, which is hilarious, because I weighed 115 once and I looked like a walking skeleton. I've recently started climbing with a new group so we ended up sharing our weights to try and determine who should belay who and they were all shocked when I told them how much I weighed. Win?0 -
I've never had anyone guess my weight correctly, but I have had people look at me and know what my clothing size is.0
-
People think I weigh less but it's because I wear all black for work/school. Black is the new slim/slim is the new black0
-
My family does, but not strangers. My friends were shocked when I told them how much I really weighed, they thought I weighed less because I was so tall. Height thankfully hide some of my weight. But my family is constnantly asking "So, have you the 100s yet? Got a way to go? You're in the what, 220s now?"
It's kind of annoying. I just smile and say, "so long as it's getting smaller, I don't care what the number on the scale says."0 -
i must admit a few yrs ago i would not even have considerd telling my dr my "real" weight if you know what i mean! but now i really don't care i am no longer nearly 400 lbs :noway: yes i am still pretty heavy for a female but i will tell total strangers my weight now :glasses:0

actually i once tour all the ligaments in my knees cus the snow boarding guy didnt ask me what my weight was, he guessed too much and so when i fell over my skis didnt fall off and so i almost broke my legs - so uncool0
-
Oddly enough bigger people tend to guess way higher while average or smaller people guess way low. Eh probably think I am going to eat them or something...
nom nom nom...0 -
Yes, always and surprisingly most of the times I get less than I actually weigh and then when I tell them, they are like " Oh I would have never thought so" lol0
-
people are shocked when I tell them what I do weigh. people were shocked when they see my before pics and I tell them I was almost 500 lbs. guess being tall, 6'3 and having a large frame helps. never bugged me if people asked or tried to guess.0
-
People always think I weigh less then I actually do... and it's because I'm tall.
When I was at my heaviest(180) I looked and felt fat. Everyone though always told me, oh your so skinny... and you don't need to lose weight. Um no, I have a huge gut sticking out of my shirt.. I need to lose weight!
Now that I'm down to almost 150, it's all oh she's too thin.. and you need to put on some weight actually.
I can't win0 -
I actually do no mind people guessing my weight- most guess lower ( hmm makes me feel good lol!) but then at the same time I hate the weight guessing game- can potentially hurt feelings-0

You're buffer than I am, but I was just about to write exactly the same thing. I was 117 at my smallest when I was vomiting up anything that passed my lips, and I looked skeletal. I have a LARGE body frame, which no one seems to believe because I'm short.0 -
