. or ! or !! (and is !!! too much?)

Since joining this site, has anyone else found they are using exclamation points with greater and greater frequency? I read about great burns and NSVs and a simple period does not seem to convey my excitement and pride for the person, regardless of the sentence content. But regular use of ! seems to lessen their intensity and I have found myself, on occasion, using !!. I've even had to restrain myself from using !!!, which I've been told is a sign of mental instability .

Just a random thought I had this morning. I want to convey my sincere joy but does overuse of ! start to appear saccharine?

Exclamation points are used by people who don't understand proper punctuation, when they want an inflection in voice tone.

They are also used by people who are "friggin' excited" they are succeeding at losing weight!!!!!

I once read somewhere that "!!" is incorrect; that if you want to use multiples, it should be "!!!" like an ellipsis should be 3 dots, not 2 "..."

But, I use as many as I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is probably why I stick to one or three. Also, two seems like a cop out. Is your finger too tired to hit the ! One more time? (Obviously I'm kidding. I don't care how many other people use, generally.)
