edited October 6 in Fitness and Exercise
The plan is simple: Do one push-up on January 1st, two push-ups on January 2nd, three push-ups on January 3rd and so on throughout the year. On December 31st you will complete 366 push-ups.

Who's up for it?

Hope I'm not doing girl push-ups by March.

Actually I have been trying to work that area for a while and need motivation. I hate push-ups so this will give me a good reason to do them.

It's an area that's I've always needed improvement on as well. I'm stoked and can't wait to see how much this will improve my bench.

This sounds like a winner. How long it it going to take once you are doing 100+ pushups? I don't want to spend half the morning on the floor LOL.
  • If anyone else gets in on this please friend me so that we can update one another.

    Thanks!

Challenge accepted indeed! This sounds like a great idea!
  • Once you reach 100, do all the pushups have to be done consecutively or can they be done cumulatively throughout the day?

In a row? Or can they be broken up? I may need to start breaking them up after Jan 20th

I have no idea, it will be time consuming but I would think you'd be pretty good at them by then..

If you feel you need recovery days, you just could just do even or odd days.

I'm in, then! Maybe I'll start working on that now and hopefully I won't have to break them up until Valentine's Day lol

Try spreading your feet to distribute your weight as you improve move them closer together. Also you can start out at an incline on a couch, chair(s), or counter to move some of your weight off your chest.

I am changing from a splits workout to a 5x5 workout on Jan2. I was thinking that it would be pretty light for the first couple weeks since I am starting at square one and only lifting the 45lb bar. I think having these push ups in there will keep me from regressing on my lifts. My only problem is that at my weight, a push up is the same as me benching 200lbs. I can do 5-7 depending on the day. My 5x5 routine involves adding 5 lbs every time I do an exercise so this falls right in line.

Kinda like that Greek dude that started carrying a newborn calf. As the calf grew, he got stronger. He could eventually carry a full grown bull.

The idea is to do as many as you can consecutively, but it can be time consuming so do what works for you.
  • I'm in the "can't do a push-up to save my life" boat, so I'm in.

Exactly like that, progressive resistance training.
