Running Goals for 2012

I'm setting what seems to me right now as a really ambitious goal. In 2012, I will run 500 miles. No excuses, just do it.
When I look at it a little more closely, this should pretty easy. Since I'm doing 2 Half Marathons next year, I will probably do around 400 miles in training plus the race thanks to Hal Higdon.
500 miles Brad. Just do it.

You can do it!
I'm also doing the Hal Higdon 1/2 program and plan on running my first 13.1 in Apri.
Running 3x5mi a week will get you 780 miles a year.
I'm in with you to do at least 500 miles.0 -
I usually do about 9 a week, getting ready to up it for the mini I'm doing in may. I'm in!!!! :bigsmile:0

Awesome! I'm planning to hit my 500 mile mark around March of next year (total...since January 2009...) I don't have a specific mileage goal for the entire year yet though - I'll get through the half marathon training/race in May and then see from there.0
-
I just finished C25K last month, and want to continue running about 5-6 miles a week. I had set my goal for 250 miles in 2012, but I'm thinking I'll make it 300 miles. It's totally doable.0

I will shoot for 1000 miles again and complete my 2nd marathon.
And hopefully break 20 in a 5K.0 -
1,000-1,500 miles
2 marathons
Get faster
Become more consistent with logging my miles0 -
1000-1500 miles
A full marathon.
Break 50 mins in 10km0 -
First half in August. ::gulp::0

I've had a goal of running 1,000 miles per year for the last couple years but haven't done it for one reason or another ....so my goal for 2012 is to actually meet that goal - and to PR at all distances: 5K through marathon.0
-
I need to make sure I sign up for at least a couple 5ks and a 10k. I didn't run any races last year and my motivation went down the drain.
Probably run at least 300 miles throughout the year, 500 if I'm really ambitious.0 -
I'm planning on running 1000 miles in 2012 along with completing my first marathon in April!! Can't wait!0
-
I am 57 years old and planning on running in a 2.1 mile race in July. Working on my endurance using the treadmill. Once spring arrives, I will start my 2.1 mile runs in preparation. Hope I can stay focused and accomplish this!0

* Run a half marathon without walking.
* Run a 5K under 23 minutes.
(it will not be a PR, I don't think I will break my old PR in 2012).
* Run run run, and run consistently every month in 2012.0 -
Hmm, not sure exactly. I'm thinking ~ 2,700 miles. I want up my game and train smart(er).
I need to up the miles so I can run 26.2 as easily as I can knock out the 20 milers.
Still on the fence between looking for a new marathon PR or training for a 50 miler. Time will tell.0 -
Bump - occupied right now, but will be back to this.0

Looking to get about 1500 miles this upcoming year and hopefully complete my first 50 miler....then possibly a 12 hour run....0

Going to run my first half this spring...I have said this for the last 2 years...this is going to be the year I actually DO IT!!0

I'll join you on the 500 mile challenge and complete a half marathon.0

My goal for 2011 was 1000 miles. I exceeded that but was doing a lot of training.
I haven't set a mileage goal for 2012 yet. I may just go with the same 1000 miles.
I ran 3 half marathons in 2011. I know I will run at least one, hopefully the same 3 though, in 2012.
I'd like to continue to work on speed and an increase my pace even for the longer runs.0 -
650 miles for me in 2012!
I'll be doing my first half marathon in February.0 -
No mileage goals for me this year ...
My goal is to not let running take over my workout schedule and to spend as many days cross training as I do running!
High mileage and too much focus on running for me is what got me injured...
So I am spin, yoga, core, water girl ... who happens to love running too!0 -
10 half marathons in 2012 is my goal. Reality may bring it down to 9, but I'd really like to cross 10 more states off my To Do 50 State List.
Providing I train for all of them, I should cover about 100 mile/month.
I may ... just may ... do something crazy and sign up for another full marathon. But that's a lot of work, so I don't know at this point in time.0 -
Aiming for 600 miles. I will have 365 apx for 2011 depending how the next few days go. I have a few races planned.
Jan
Half and full
Sept
Half
10 miler (tower of terror)
Hoping to catch a half in may but not sure what will happen due to dance recital for the girls.0 -

That's amazing! 10 half marathons is a lot of races! WTG! Very inspiring!0 -

My 1st half in July!!!!0

I think 1000 miles is a great goal. I have three 1/2 marathons, a 10K and 5K race (both races) 10 K for me and the 5 K with my kids and a few other 5K's with the kiddos. I also plan on the Marine Corps Marathon. 1000 should be attainable. The biggest goal for me though is to be strong, make some new PB's at all race distances, place in age division in local races etc. and most importantly have balance in my life that includes my 4 kids, marriage, job, running and judo.0
