Starting a group called "1/2 b4 40". Looking to run my first 1/2 marathon before I turn 40. The run is in October so I'm thinking that's plenty of time to train. Most I'm running now is 5 miles. Good luck in your endeavors!

I have currently signed up for two halfs and a full marathon. I'm hopeful to train up for the full and maintain a full so I can run several a year.

Hmmmm..... I haven't really thought about how many miles I want to do in 2012. Maybe I should calculate it. I do have other goals however:

    1. Be able to run 9 min miles during events (later in the year probably; right now I'm around 11.... slow, I know)
    2. Reduce the amount of injuries I succomb to.... I started running consistantly last year and have had my fair share of injuries
    3. Incorporate more trail runs
    4. Be able to keep up with my friends who I have always somewhat idealized (We always do a Mountain Bike trip Labor Day weekend and they invite me to run; I usually do half of their distance on this run)

This year I have planned: an International distance triathlon (10k run), The Peachtree Road Race which is a 10k on the 4th of July in Atlanta, a Half Ironman (half marathon run), and a few short distance races sprinkled in.

That's my only goal, until I break it (hopefully in February). But I'll be moving across the country sometime next year, so that'll hurt my training.

That's a good goal! Such a tough distance to race, no margin for error.

I'm thinking that 500 may actually be too low of a goal for me. I've already run 65 this month.

I think I may now shoot for 600-650 and 2 half marathons

I'm in for 500. If I run to my schedule, I should get more, but since this will be my first full year running, I want to achieve my goal and set myself up for success.

    Good luck everyone!
  • 500 miles this year for me too. It will also be my first whole year of running. I will try to run my first 10K this year too.

I just decided I'm going to do a half in May. I have a cousin who is also begging me to do the Chicago Marathon with her in the fall, but I don't think I'll be ready for that.

I still need to think about a mileage goal for the year.

I just started jogging/running less then a month ago but starting January, I am going to start training for a half marathon. I figure after 5-6 months of training I can do most of it with some walking. I would have never thought I could do it a year ago but now I know I will now ;)

Cut my marathon time by ~15 minutes.
Cut my 5k by ~5 minutes.
Cut my half marathon time by ~10 minutes.
Continue to learn and improve in Tae Kwon Do.
Do more push ups, pull ups and sit ups.
    Stay uninjured.

    My 2 goals are:

Run an entire 5k (I'm a new runner) and Win an award for a Walk/Jog for 5-10k, not sure which yet!

My first 1/2 marathon is May 5, 2012. I assume I'll have 400 or so miles in by then. Then, depending on how it goes, I'll probably sign up for a fall 1/2 marathon so I'm assuming I can hit at least 800 miles this year. I'm not so worried about time yet as just doing it. But, my training for the 10K at Thanksgiving really did help improve my time on the 5Ks so I think it will all come together. Looking forward to a great 2012!

My goal is 500 miles, walk-running. I will do the triple crown in March, which is a 5k, 10k, and 10miler. Maybe the mini marathon in April, which is 13.1 miles. May end up walking, but plan to get the mileage in. Bring it on 2012! Still have 30 pounds to lose.

Huh, I never really thought about logging my miles. I know I do around 20, sometimes more weekly (discounting these past couple weeks >.<) because I typically do 4 miles 5x/week.

But I'm trying to up it, so I suppose I should know exactly, lol.

MY GOAL: is to, besides get a heart rate monitor, start logging my mileage! And increase it monthly  still working out the kinks, but totally doable!
