hmmm was always told German, no idea on father's side. On discovering with my mom her side of the family, amazed to find out I was English, now the hard part is family was told to be Czech/Slovakian however they left in the 1800's during the Austrian-Hungarian empire of area and during the forced Magyarization of area..so I could be Czech, Slovakian or Hungarian depending on era.

I could also be French considering the "English" part of family had the name of Rozier/Rosher which is a French Huguenot name.

I really don't know for certain...been told French and Irish. I'd love to send a DNA sample off and get it tested, just to know.
Had mine tested. The company is called 23andMe,. They send you a kit and then they send you back your genetric ancestry across the world.

It's quite hard to get to the bottom of it, as there was so much movement in Europe a couple of hundred years ago. I mean, honestly, even Germay wasn't anything near Germany before 1871. There were all those little pick and mix boroughs ^^
  • Irish, English, German! I am a born and raised Canadian! I love looking into my heritage and have lots and lots of American roots as well!

    I am a genuine Californiano......and American mutt.
My my dads side consists of English, French, German, Russian, Dutch, Chipawa Indian. His side came ove in 1830 from England, where my heritage can be traced back to 1600. Before that it has lineage back to ceasar Augustus(from the surname of Titus).
My moms side Is Spanish, English, Dutch, Wintu Indian. On her side, my anscestor came to California via Mexico in 1790. We had a land grant that consisted of what is much of Santa Cruz and the surrounding mountains. On her dads side comes the Wintu, a northern california tribe living at the noth end of the Sacramento Valley and Coastal range.
I have lived in California all my life as did my ancestors, for 14 generations( european), and thousands of years on the Wintu side.

    True story

Me: So dad where did your family come from? Whats your background?

    Dad: Texas

Me: Dad, no like BEFORE texas. We're not natives here.

Dad: We're Texans. There was no where before Texas.

    ************************
To this day I honestly have no idea about my dad's side of the family.

Well since Texas was a country..He sure is Texan
