I've been doing calisthenics for some time but i always give up when my abs start burning, i've asked the instructor how do i keep in a plank or crunch when the abs are burning? i know that it means its working, i've tried to think of other things or counting my way through it but its so hard. Just wondering if anyone has any tips that helps them through?

When I was out for a run one day, I read a sign that said 'Pain is temporary but Pride is forever!' That saying has stuck with me. So, before each workout, I set a goal for myself and if I feel like giving up, I remember those words. It works for me!!! (That and some really great music.)

I rode my bike yesterday and I wanted to cry but my husband kept reminding me of how great I am going to look in shorts come summer!!!! I didn't stop for nothing!!!! Keep going you can do it!
  • "Pain is just weakness leaving the body". Maybe focus more on progress/steps. If you've been doing it for a while I'm sure you have gotten better, right? Count how long you can do that/those activities before giving out. Each week or two see if you can go 10 more seconds. You'll have a goal plus a way to see your progress - hopefully that will give you the motivation you're looking for. Go get 'em!

I am lazy and would give up, if not for my personal trainer. He is the only reason I am becoming fit. If I didn't go to him 3 days a week, I would probably do no exercise at all. I guess I just want to show him I can do it, because when I am working out with him, I rarely say "I can't do it", I make myself do it.
