This is a support group isn't to offend the stay at home mom's- but is to give support to the mothers who work all day long outside the home and still have to come home and take care of their children/husband lol, clean house, help with homework, run to practices ect.. and still find time to workout in all the hustle and bustle.

I work full time for a Perinatologist and I have 2 daughters 7 and 4 not to mention I have an 8 yr old dog and a really needy husband lol.

I feel like I am constantly rushing to be somewhere or do something. I find my me time when I get to the gym.

There's no reason for the SAHM's (me being one of them) to be offended unless there's reason & I see no reason! We all need support no matter what our day brings! Thank you for saying that, though. The Mommy Wars in America is simply ugly. Good luck to you in your goals & your group! :flowerforyou:

I didn't have the time for the gym either (plus didnt want to pay) and started working out at home which was great but I started losing motivation let me rephrase I completely lost motivation and stopped working out- So I started going to the gym on post (its free) but I have to pay for childcare (which now that I think about it costs more than me having a membership lol)- But I have to do something if I want to drop these last 20lbs- Yes I just added another place that I need to rush to and from but its okay because while I am there I am taking care of ME I am not thinking about the kids or work, bills nothing except ME MYSELF AND I (yeah I know its only a hour lol) but its MY hour lol.

I too am a crazy 40 hour work week mom of two who works out between 8pm and 11pm. I usually start with 30 day shred then head to the treamill in the garage. Tuesdays and thursdays I do the spin class at work that employees are allowed to go to. But other than that those two hours a week are all I get by myself.

    Hello ladies..

I don't have as tough a time as some, because I do have a fairly flexible work arrangement. I do work full time, but because most of my work is done on the computer or phone, I can work from home when necessary. This helps out a bunch when it comes to child care issues.

Both of my children are in school, so my DH and I are just tasked with seeing them off on the bus in the morning - me usually, and being there when they get home in the afternoon - DH usually.

I also can't complain too much about support, because my DH does all the laundry and shopping. I do most of the cooking (so I'll complain about that once in a while), but all in all I have it pretty good. We share the cleaning - basically it falls on whoever gets grossed out the soonest..

Are you ready to kick me off yet??

I do, however, have a fair amount of time finding time for my favorite "me" activity. I lease a horse, and finding the 3 hours or so it takes to get to the barn and ride is challenging.. I usually end up borrowing from work (which is risky) or home (which is really hard).

It is crucial to my well being as I tend to become quite the beyotch if I am away from it for long. It has been a very difficult winter, and I just rode for the first time since Thanksgiving on Saturday.

Now we once again have a foot of snow on the ground - and so the waiting begins.

I am anxious to hear all the other stories out there, and getting to know some of you through the thread.

No I won't kick you off lol-- I too get help from my husband (its 50-50 in my household lol) that also happens when he is home- he gets deployed every other year for a year at a time- So my busy schedule will be even more busy once he goes again this October.

We both cook, we both clean, and we both take care of our daughters, Its 2009 men can lift fingers too lol- Thats great that your husband does help you. Many woman aren't lucky to have a husband without the mentality of that the WOMEN"S JOB!!!

but just because he is doing something for me doesn't mean I get to rest there are plenty of things that need to get done- He actually goes to the gym with me we use that as quality time even though we don't talk while we are there because we are serious about our workouts-

Kudo's to you for working out at home- I did good at first but lost my motivation plus I never burned the calories at home like I do when I hit the gym- I like the 30 day shred and I also love Taebo

I work as a finance manager full time with a half hour commute each way. I have two kids but am on the downside of being taxi mom. My son is in college now and my daughter is 16.

We wake up at 5 am to go to the gym before work starts. I am trying to go swimming 3 times a week so two evenings a week my sweet husband makes dinner while I swim and then I get one time in on the weekend too.

I can barely get up on time for work in the am let alone get up even earlier to hit the gym-- (trust me I tried I am a evening workout person)

    Well hello ladies!

I am glad to see that things have stayed nice and a thread to support all kinds of mommies has finallly made it to the "community".

I put myself in the middle of both categories of moms since I work from home. REgardless of where my work takes me for the day the challenges are still the same, maybe worse. I struggle everyday with what I should do first, do I get my exercise in early and then continue to work once my kids are home from school or do I try to get all my work done and exercise later, not to mention still get dinner on the table.

Anyway, I am working on creating a schedule for me, I do it for my kids so why not for me. My work schedule is fairly flexible so I need to use that to my advantage. Off to figure it out :flowerforyou:

I work at Walgreens (am I allowed to say that) and my schedule is fairly stable but always subject to the whims of management. I currently work 10 - 7:30 Sun & Mon, 4 - 10 tue -thur and have fri & sat off.So, my hubby gets the bulk of the child care since I see everyone off to school and he is home at night. I just started MFP last week and am finding it hard to fit in exercise, but I am trying. I am usually tired because I am a night person and don't get much sleep - up until 12 - 2 am and then have to get up at 6 with the kids. So, I try to get a nap after the kids leave on my 4 o'clock days. I exercise definitely on my off days and am trying to get some in on my 10 - 7:30 days but it has been difficult. Hopefully I will be getting hired on for a state job I am going for - I'm on the last hurdle now but there is a hiring freeze that complicates the process. Then my schedule will be stable and I can actually plan my exercise better. Also I will make alot more money and be able to afford better (read healthier) food. Wow I didn't mean to ramble and unload my whole life story! LOL! By the way, I have four children ages 17, 9, 7, and 5. Hope you all have a happy day and hope to chat with you later!

I recently read an article in a Parents' magazine about how the writer, a single mom, would gladly take any help from a husband/boyfriend. Plus, how endearing it is to see men interact with children.

    http://www.parents.com/family-life/dynamics/single-parenting/love-your-husband-faults-and-all/

Even if it's just a little help, we still get help (and someone to share the frustrations with). While my husband helps with cooking and cleaning, he doesn't do much for dirty diapers or getting up in the middle of the night. However, he does things for our family that I could NEVER do... like remodeling our basement; and things that I don't like to do... like snowblowing, taking out garbage, etc. I think we have 50/50 relationship, it's just that each task isn't split 50/50.

well thats good your tasks are split 50/50 thats how they should be.
I do some of the Men's category things in my house as well. I fix stuff, drill, hammer, you name it I do it (i suprise my husband alot with the tasks I give myself) I have to though because he is gone so much that if I didn't do it it wouldn't get done like cutting the grass, putting bricks in the garden for flower beds, installing a garage door opener ect...

I swam for an hour this morning and ran for an hour as well. I'm lucky my job is fairly flexible, so when I don't have morning meetings, I can come in a little late. According to my HRM, I burned 1233 calories - not too shabby. (I'm training for a marathon).

I do have to get up early to get exercise in (I wake up at 4) since DH is in law school at nights and we are busy with the kids stuff in the PM - so "before the crack of dawn" is the only time I have. I used to be a night time exerciser, but when you really want something - you will make it work - thus I am now a morning person, ha. (If I say this enough, I may believe it one day  )

DH stays at home during the day, so he does the morning kid stuff, and drop off/pick up from school -plus he stays at home with our 4 YO son (won't start K until next year). As far as tasks around the house - DH is not the cleanest person, and I'm known as a "neat freak". I realized I had to lower my standards because 1) I don't have enough time to do everything the way I want it done, and 2) it doesn't really matter (in the long run) if the kitchen is spotless every time I go to bed (this is really hard for me, but I'm learning to let go  ).

Last night I didn't have time to exercise in the morning, so after i dropped the girls at swim practice, I took my son to the tennis courts and ran laps around the court while he played. We did stretches and some interval work together - fun!

didn't work today but still didn't have any time to workout. 2 year old didn't nap and when she is in the garage with me it's ? after ? and I have to listen to my IPod when I workout. Hopefully when both girls go to bed I will be able to before BL comes on.

I got my hour in just got home now its time to eat dinner with the family- I burned 557 calories tonight which I am not happy with I tried something different I did my weights first then finished with my cardio thats why I didn't burn as many calories because my heart rate didn't stay up the entire time- But at least I burned my min calories tonight.

Tuesday- chest and triceps + cardio

    Tomorrow is legs and cardio
  • What a great thread. I work about 60 hour a week and so does my husband. I have a 4 year old daughter that is very time demanding. I actually found a gym membership that gives you 2 hours a day of child care for free, but it's an hour away from my work (which is when I usually have time to go),mom for but we got it since it was 2 minutes from my husbands work. I would love to say my hubby does 50/50, but he kinda does stuff half a$$e%, or puts it off until I just do it. I am crazy about the housework soooooooooooo, most of it is my fault. He does allof the outside stuff and takes out the trash though. I am up at 5 am every morning, drive 45 minutes to work, after I take our daughter to school, and I pick her up on the way to the gym, so she can play with the other kids, work out until 6, go home, make dinner, do the housework, finish any laundry and go to bed around 11. So busy is a thing I am familiar with. I am glad it's recognized that it's so hard, but I was a stay at home mom for about 4 months after I had foot surgery, and that was difficult too. At least this way, I get more human interaction!!

Its funny that you said he half *kitten*'s it or puts it off until you go crazy. Isn't that how most woman are when a man does something especially around the house- If they do something we critique it and say no babe its like this lol..

Or when we want something done now and they don't jump up and do it at that second we end up doing it anyway lol-

Just got home from work - it is after 10:30 and my teenager did not do the laundry like I asked her to!!! I still didn't get all my calories in and it is too late to eat now. Oh well. I am hoping to get home earlier tomorrow so I can at least do a Walk Away the Pounds video, but it was truck day and I am too worn out from that to do anything tonight. What Time Zone is everyone in? I live in Colorado so I am in Mountain Time I think (lived in California for 16 years so I am still confused about that) but I noticed not too many people are on or respond when I post so I just wondered if that was why. Well the dryer is calling me so I have to go fold clothes now! Blessings to all!!
