  • They say that some foods like cucumber has negative calories because you burn more eating than they contain!

That's a silly myth. http://www.livestrong.com/article/262570-do-negative-calorie-foods-exist/ There are also a lot of other credible sources on the internet about this.

Just do a bit of exercise, and have a little snack you like. Or just have a snack if you really are hungry. One snack isn't going to make you gain weight.

    Agreed...and 'glitterpiss'? BEST. NAME. EVER.
  • I make snow cones with sugar free Torani. Zero calories, tastes decadent, and the best part is it adds to my water intake. I got a snow cone machine and a Ninja for the holidays and find the Ninja does an amazing job. If you use the Ninja, be careful. It can go from snow to slush (like a frozen Margarita) very fast. For hard core munchies I eat baby carrots and celery plain or dipped in salsa. The crunch is very satisfying. The salsa works so I don't have to use salt for the celery. Good luck.

Pickles, celery, carrots, lettuce, spinach. You can pretty much fill up an entire plate of zero calorie foods, and eat whatever you want with it, in a smaller portion, fill you up really well

I wouldnt worry too much about eating a bowl of lettuce and cucumber and celery and maybe a bit of pepper. I do weight watchers and you can eat veggies freeley and dont coun them as points within reason. I always lose weight. So dig in :O) x

You could buy some low cal snacks (like 100cals a go packs) and just try harder to leave yourself a margin of 100 cals for late snacks. There is nothing more frustrating to me than really needing some comfort. Better to have planned ahead for snacks allowance than being unprepared and in a haste eating something you will later regret. Planning is essential and that way you can eat foods you really want rather than trying to find something you can get away with. Id rather have a tiny bag of air popped corn than a cup of spinach............

a mini nonnis biscotti only has 37 cals for one and they are really good, not very filling but they are a nice treat, I would also suggest air popped popcorn, celery, carrots, grapefruit, 6 mini rice cakes only has 65 cals, sugarfree jello, sugarless gum or hard candy.....

urggghhh - people must get hungry to want to eat the things suggested here late at night - blurk................
  • I think most of the thing I had in mind have been mentioned such as celery (yuk).

You could try slicing some fruit, you dont have to eat a whole apple, just a few slices can sometimes take away the hunger edge. I sometimes find sucking on a sugar free mint works, 9 times out of 10 im not really hungry, I just think I am :)

Just be hungry. If you are at your calorie limit and have nothing left than have some water and go to sleep. If you really are so hungry you can't manage that than go over on veggies. Do some research on the calories in veggies and pick the ones that are right for you. I am not convinced about the negative calorie thing. Whether it is true or not I have never met anyone whose weight loss has been hindered becasue they didn't adhere to the idea that some foods have " negative" calories. So why make a good thing ( regular calorie counting) more complicated?

I thought apples burn more then calories you consume

Nice. Also try Oxygen Hot Dogs!

You got a Ninja?! How did you catch it?! More importantly, how do you know it's there? LOL
Do ninjas specialise in snow cone making?

Green Tea, Black Coffee, water...these are all zero calories.

Zero Calorie Sods have negative effect on the body and hence avoidable.

I love the disclaimer, "The result would make them zero-calorie foods after digestion. While there is no scientific evidence that this is true, it is theoretically possible that this phenomenon can exist." But if I was to go over my calorie limit, those are excellent choices. At worst they will cause minimal damage.
  • Celery is quite good - the body actually uses more calories to digest celery than in the celery itself (which is very low anyway)! Technically you can have minus calories??
  • Sugar Free Popsicles have 15 calories and Sugar Free Fudgesicles have 40. The individual Sugar Free Jello is a great choice at 10 calories. Also during your meals use the Green Giant individual servings that are 40 calories or the individual serving of corn at 80 calories. You can also mix some of them together or use green beans or pinto beans and mix in the corn. Just another way of making it all work. The one thing for sure that only has zero is what everyone else has said...............WATER.........but you can use the Zero Propel drink mix. Good luck on your weight loss for 2012.

    False

    False

Not really, its a "theory". The argument is your body takes more calories to burn them than they contain, but the argument against is that the calories on the packaging already take this into account and the calories stated are what you get AFTER digestion. When you google it you find as many arguments for as against.

however, whether these foods are "negative" or not is besides the point in my opinion, it is an accepted fact that they do contain low calories for their volume and make very good snacks as you get the full feeling for few calories which is a win for a dieter :-)

    celery

Well, they are not exactly ZERO calories but the body uses more calories to digest them then they actually are, so they kind of are a 'negative' food. Eat all the celery you want.

Broccoli is VERY low in calories.....plain broccoli is about 35 calories / cup. If you need a very light dinner I would recommend a 4oz chicken breast and a cup of steamed broccoli....you would be looking at about 150 calories.
