My first name's difficult to screw up unless you're illiterate. It's Edward. My last name though everybody screws up on. It's not exactly obvious how to pronounce it.

My name is Jessica, but people call me Jennifer (not really a mispronunciation, more of a 'hey I forgot your name so I thought of the next closest thing' deal).

Oh, and my (way in the) future daughter is going to have fun with her name: Lilja. [lil-yah] It's Swedish (my boyfriend is from Sweden) and it means Lily. haha :P

My name is Gheri pronounced Gary... I get Jeri ga-heri. The crazy thing is that people whose second language is English always pronounce my name correctly.

My name is Elisabeth and people constantly mistake it for Melissa when repeating it back to me. I have no idea why. Unless it's important they know my name I don't bother correcting them.

It's pronounced El-issa-beth. But when reading it, people pronounce it El-iza-beth. I don't really care about that.

Heya Katya... I'll have to come down and see you so I can say your name. Funny... I'm pretty sure I'd say it right, and yet I can't see why people would say it wrong! Just like it looks, n'est pas?! :)

Yes! It's not too difficult but unusual. I'm ok with strangers not getting it right, I'll oblige--but the annoying ones are the people who don't try, who never get it after repeated corrections, who make up new names, who assume my last name must be it, since it's easier to pronounce, who read it backwards and ones who say "Miss, Ms...what? my god?! I won't even try that hahahaha". :grumble: Well it's easier than the years you spent getting your teaching license, and you've had whole two semesters to learn it!!! (true story)

ever since i can remember. Surname Wager, which (pretty obviously in my opinion is pronounced like 'placing a wager/bet') but it constantly gets reffered to as wagger, as in a dog that always wags its tail is a wagger. It used to annoy the hell out of me, now i just laugh
