I am 5'8 and I am almost at my goal of 135!! (2 pounds to go!!!) I have a small frame and in my early teens and 20's was sickly thin at 110 - I was in a very physical job and couldn't gain weight if I tried - now 10 years later and 3 children I really just need to build muscle and get lean!!

    Hi fellow tall ones!
    I'm 5'9.5 and am currently 168 lbs.
I'd like to see if I can get down to 150, but over years of varsity sports and other athletics since I was young, it has been extremely difficult for me since I think I would essentially have to lose some muscle (obviously I have fat to lose too). Last time I was below 150, I actually stopped menstruating (i was also training really hard), so I'm not even sure if it's physically possible for me, but here's to trying!
Is anyone else having this difficulty due to body type/muscle??

    ^^^ This!!

I'm somewhere between 5'9 and 5'10, currently 167 lbs and thinking about heading down to 150. Although I've been focusing on my lifting lately and don't want to lose muscle in order to get there. My highest weight was 286 lbs.

We're exactly the same! just hit 142 today! I have the same goal as you to get to 130-135...working off the last bit of stomach fat & a little on the thighs, then I'm switching to maintenance!

I'm wanting to enter a novice figure show in October. I'm 5'9" and weight about 161 lbs. But, it isn't the weight that I'm concerned with - it's body fat %. I'm aiming to lose 4% body fat by Feb. 29/12, another 4% by May 31/12 and ANOTHER 4% by Sept. 30/12.

I'm REALLY happy to see your report - because it means that it CAN be done. (I'm doing NROL4W, btw....what was your program?)

i started with the NROLW and got to about stage 3..then i needed more. my zumba instructor was gearing up for the NPC Northwest Championships and got me into it..she finally agreed to train me! we did 5 days a week, separate body parts, usually went 8-15 reps for 3-4 sets. i was dieting hard and my posing sucked (btw..start practicing that NOW!!!! :)). this time, i am going with the same strength coach but with more of a train-pause-train set schedule, meaning lift heavy to failure about 6-8 reps, rest about 10-15 seconds and then do it again, and then again til i cant do it anymore. since i dont have time to concentrate solely on gaining muscle, i think this will increase my lean to maybe 126 (im 122 now, 18% BF) and my BF to 12-13. i did hire a nutition coach too...she has competed since 2004 and is about my build. she said i will get to eat more in any case (that is always good news) and with some specialized cardio, should tighten up the skin and lose the fat in time for the Vancouver at the end of march.

Absolutely! I'm 6'1" and have incredibly dense, thick bones. I'm basically built like a linebacker! My goal weight right now is 285, which is almost 100 pounds higher than the "recommended" weight for my height, but it is the number my doctor gave me to shoot for. I hate the charts that are so 2D in their approach, I need something that adjusts to multiple factors! :)
