I believe weight loss follows a last on first off rule. So while burning fat your body will systematically burn off places fat was most recently stored, and then eventually get to the areas where fat has been the longest. Stick with it and you'll get to where you want to be. If it is your bone structure, You may have a wider bottom than you want at the end, but it will not be fat! and the advise to do the shoulder work outs is good stuff. build muscle at top while burning fat at the bottom. Sounds like a plan. I have a great video that I use. The Firm. It mixes free weights with cardio and believe me you feel results fast. check it out. also Julianne Michaels get shredded is a good work out (don't really care for her but the video is good)

I know I'm not the only one out there with a fairly small top and a wider bottom.
I wear a small top and a size 9 bottom. I have to wear a belt though because my waist is too small for a 9.
I know you can't choose where you lose weight, but is there ANYTHING that can be done to even myself out a little?

oh my! i never thought i would hear someone else describe the same situation as me!!

small top, big legs, no waist and no butt.

i dont think there is any evening it out...its like man if im gonna have these legs can i get the *kitten* too please?!

    you are not alone! :)

Here's what I did to sort my problem out a few years ago..
Being a size 8 bottom and an XS on top (@#$#$!!!), I started to workout on my body overall, which included shoulder workouts to widen the top and squats/lunges, etc etc to reduce the bottom. It's still a work in progress but I do see visible improvements. I also run about 4 miles everyday, which helps reduce the BF%.

If you want to get started, I recommend this link http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dumbbell-only-home-or-gym-fullbody-workout.html in addition to some cardio and a Carb-Protein-Fat ratio of 40-40-30.

My mother used to joke that the song "Fat Bottom Girls" was written about me.

I'm just hoping that eventually I will start losing some weight from my hip/butt area.

My dad still to this day says that about me. Haha.
some one sung it at me while cycling. decided to take it as a compliment.
I have the same issues with trousers the only thing I can say is like JL and Beyonce - if youve got it flaunt it . You are not a 'fat bottomed girl', you are a gorgeous pear shape with a beautiful booty. I leearned to love my bum by
    1. no allowing myself to ever call my self 'fat bottomed' and every time I thought it I corrected myself to something nicer.
    2. dress to impress you can fake an hour glass by broadending your shoulders (structured shoulders) and belting that tiny waist.
    have a look on here:

    and revel in your body!

oh and a sewing machine is your best friend I had a revelation when i discovered i could take in the waists of my trousers and skirts so they sat straight on my hips. it was an amazing thing and i fell so much better without the danger of flashing stuff when i crouch! amazing what it does for confidence when something fits and you have made it do that!

I love my bottom curves, and the men like it too! Learn to love it, its how you were made! I have a friend who lost 135 lbs, and completey lost her butt! She looks so good, but completely lost her sexiness.
Accentuate the positives, and find a good tailor to take in the waist of your pants.

I was a size 10/12 bottom and a medium top. Whenever I initially lose the weight I am small on top and maybe a 8/10 bottom. Always had big legs & butt HA! I'm now a size 4 (w/ breathing room) but it took A LOT of work. Run Run Run (outside/treadmill) whatever you prefer. Interval running/HiiT is the way for it to all go and trim that bottom. I'd rather save the butt and hips but that's just me.

I would recommend auditioning for a hip hop video promptly.

But to answer your question, there's really nothing you can do about it aside from reducing bodyfat further. Also, you should check to be sure whether the issue is bodyfat or hip/bone structure.

    LMAO hip hop video

I'm with you girl. I have just accepted my *kitten* for what it is. Instead of shrinking it I try and just make it look FAB.U.LOUS!

I definitely have this problem as well I know that no matter what I do I will always have hips and a butt, that's just the way God made me, you may be able to tone it so you can bounce a penny off it but it's not going anywhere so Love Yourself, and move on.

I'm of no help. I'm keeping my large bottom.

    YES to this! Me too!

Me too. I don't want to lose too much of it. My husband is actually worried that it will go. Makes me feel better about having it!

Size 9 is junior sizing, which is typically more straight up and down than misses sizing. Cross the store to the clothes designed for women with curves and be proud of your booty!

That said, I've become significantly less pear-shaped since running and lifting.

At my lowest my butt and thighs were still big.
    I've just learnt that's how I'm shaped.
My husband specifically asked me when I started on this journey (in the saddest voice possible) "does that mean your bum is going to shrink???"
I assured him it would not.
Because as all us fat-bottomed girls know, it's the LAST possible spot the fat comes off for us.

I had the some of this problem when I was younger but I had a B/C cup on top. My size in pants were always smaller in the waist then legs and but so I ran my *kitten* off. I would run 2-4 miles a day and it worked.

I have the exact same body type!

If you consistently lose weight, you will lose a bit of your bottom too, but honestly it's probably genetic and will always be bigger compared to the rest of your body.

    I've grown to embrace mine....having a big butt isn't a bad thing!

Small top, size 10 waist and 14 bottom.........lots of belts. I was nicknamed bubble butt growing up. You just have to learn to love that pear shape! Although, I would like less "pear".

Bootay is my first, middle and last name! I just have way to much and a small waist. I have the same problem with buying pants. I'm just trying to trim it down a little. I don't know how much that's going to happen since mines is hereditary, but other then that I love my bottom and I'm keeping it!

I have the same problem! At one point, I got down to 110 pounds and although I liked the size of my lower body, I looked like skeletor up top! It's annoying, but I've found that weight lifting and strength training are helpful in toning the problem areas and giving a more balanced look up top. I also run. Now if only I could keep my eating in check....

We call it the LLH (Large Lower Half) club in our family and all the females are a part of it, some have tried to drop out, but none have been successfull. We just embrace our curves now :)

I have the same problem...i do agree that it greatly helps to go to the womens section to buy pants (especially shorts) You will notice a big difference in the cut of pants. I am def going to have to try to work out my lower half also (think im gonna start using my eliptical more often and see if it helps) Thanks so much for posting this topic....i had the same question. :D

    Yeah me too

I lost over 40 kilos and my butt was still bigger then my waist and top half.

The first place I put on weight is my butt, the first place I lose weight is my boobs, So unfair!

I can't change my shape, I can just change the sizing.

Hey.... could be worse. First place I noticed weight loss was my feet. I wanted my too-tight jeans to fit better, and instead I walked out of my favorite purple ballet flats.

My fiance loves mine, but I'm not comfortable with it. I don't mind so much when I'm fully dressed, but some things are heard to wear with this shape, like bikinis, short shorts and shorter dresses.

I know what u mean I'm smaller on top and have a bit bum and thighs so I had to get my bikini in different sizes it's a pain in the bum but over here we can buy this stuff separate

I'm the same way! I can wear a small/medium top but I wear 6/8 in jeans. It's so frustrating! All my fat sticks to my thighs and butt!
