  • I have had that before and was told it is imflamation in the cartalidge of the rib cage - for me it was a sharp pain so if that is what you are feeling and the doctor checked you out that is probably what it is. It is called Costochondritis - here is more info:
Costochondritis is inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. The condition causes localized chest wall pain and tenderness that you can reproduce by pushing on the involved cartilage in the front of the rib cage. Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment. The cause is usually unknown. Costochondritis affects females more often than males (70% versus 30%).
  • I checked on MayoClinic symptoms checker - Costochondritis - those are exactly the symptoms I have. I am going back to the doctor next week. Thanks for all the advise much appreciated!

    +1 to this.
Go check with another doctor. There are sooooo many things that can cause chest pain, and its not useful asking the internet what it might be when there are trained professionals who can explain it. Put your mind at rest by seeing a real doctor, and not listening to anything anyone says here. :)

could be a number of things..how was your blood pressure?? and perhaps it couldve been a pulled muscle or youre lungs not used to all that huffing and puffing .. or gas from the food you eat .. hopefully its one of the latter. i had that problem in beginning of december..thought i was going to keel right over . however all my tests came out clear as a bell thankfully. mustve been stress at the time because its all gone now

    Doctor.
  • i had chest pain before gallbladder out and with a hbp issue that is now resolved should check it out to be safe.
  • My mom had the same type symptoms everytime she went walking or went to the gym. Hers progressively got worse to where she could only go on the treadmil 5 mins before the pain started. Her and her doctor thought it was heartburn. After about 6 months she was at her cardiologists for a routine stress test and they ended up doing bypass the next day. The point is see a specialist!

    Rule #1 indeed:
Also I would never trust opinions of strangers on the internet, when it comes to serious medical issues .
