HELP ... what alcohol to drink when dieting ?

Whiskey, nothing added (no ice, no water, no mixers) :smokin:0

I'm trying hard to cut back and only have a few drinks on the weekend. Trying to do Decaf tea at night.
I like Skinny Girl Marguerita, but it is a little tart for me. I throw in a Truvia and shake it up over ice. I think the ice dilutes it a bit. If I had a good week,I'll do wine.
Rum and Diet Coke is a favorite too. Everyone says Vodka is good, but I get an immediate headache and can't drink it.0 -
Studies have shown that a little alcohol is good for the b ody. I've heard that women should stick to 2 drinks a week because breast cancer can be fueled with more than that.
Drink what you like, but something that won't make you binge. Like, if dacquiries make you crave nachos, stick to rum and coke, kwim ? Or put something in your calicum OJ, like rum.
Binge drinking is not up to the person drinking it nor is it up to the drink at hand. It is a chemical malfunction in the brain that does not produce the chemical that tells normal people they have had enough. Binge drinking is not a choice, like diabetes is not a choice. It boils down to the chemical process in the body and most of us are born that way.0 -
In the not-so-common event of me drinking, I'll drink a few light beers or take some shots of vodka chased with sugarfree redbull (I'm obviously a lightweight). I always leave room in my calorie budget if I know I'll be drinking later. If I go over my budget I always work off the extra the next day, which also helps with the hangover.
You can only be so healthy when you're partying...0 -

As far as drinking goes, ethyl alcohol would be my preference.0

i go out alot and i would rather find a healthy alternative rather than give it up helpppp?
If you're one of those heavy drinker types who can't live without a semi-weekly buzz, oh well.
Your ability to reach goals will be inhibited, because it's a lot of wasted calories that can only come from one source: nutritious foods your body needs.
Now might be a good time to re-evaluate your drinking habits.

Alcohol is calories, but since vodka and gin are pure alcohol, it's the most blitz for your caloric buck short of just drinking selzer while huffing glue.0

Drink what you enjoy and make it fit in to your calories. May mean you have to cut back on your drinking .... may mean you start working out even harder.
^^^ This
Denying yourself somthing completely seems extreme. I can eat a cupcake every once in a while and still lose weight. I can skip the gym when I feel like it and still become fit, and <drumroll> I can have a tasty beverage once in a while and still ... not be an alcoholic!
Oh, and when I choose to drink, I drink Parrot Bay Rum and Diet Coke. Not because it is low in calories, but because it is tasty.
Cheers!0 -

So, do you think a little heroine for an addict would be okay? Ya know, giving them a little slack?
If alcohol is a problem, listen folks, it is a problem. If you can not give it up, then IT IS A PROBLEM!0 -
Hahaha...original poster asks what drink she can enjoy when going out and gets painted as an alcoholic.0

I'm okay with slow and steady weight loss, because I love beer more than life itself.
SO WITH YA, girl.
I ain't givin' up beer..........................not for love nor money nor weight loss.
And I AM losing weight. It's all about balance.0 -

Hands down, the skinniest drink is a vodka and club soda with a squeeze of lime or lemon.
this. if you refuse to give up alcohol - these have 60 calories per drink.0 -
Tequilla, diet sprite, and a splash of lime....I call it the ghetto Margarita, but its yummy!

I drink wine and make it fit into my calories. Occassionally beer, but mostly wine. Some people like to splurge on chocolate, I like wine. Correction. I love wine.0 -
Water... mixed with whiskey.0

None. Alcohol is made of sugar, besides the dangerous effects of alcohol.
If you can not imagine a life with out alcohol, please feel free to message me in private to talk if you would like to. I work with recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. Normal people that do not have a problem with alcohol do not have a problem not drinking it, period. They also do not obsess on the fact that they can not have any either.
So if any of you are having trouble giving it up, it may be time to look inside yourself to see if there is a problem there. And yes,. I am ready for people to be mad at me for suggesting their precious alcohol is a problem.
And before someone starts spouting to me about how red wine is good for you blah blah blah, yeah, umm, no its not.
Speak for yourself. I can do without getting drunk and I have done so in order to focus on weight loss and overall health. But I miss it. And at first, I missed it a lot. After all, getting a good buzz on is fun - that's why people do it and that's why they get hooked on it, I miss it the same way I miss eating big piles of cheese, three slices of pie, etc. I miss it the same way I missed sex when I was married. Thank God sex and coffee are good for you - without them I would be getting drunk and eating cheese every night. And I do get drunk and eat a bunch of cheese from time to time. And it is awesome.0 -
I enjoy a nice, stiff vodka and water with a squirt of Mio (Yes, I know, Mio IS going to kill me)0
-
NONE!!!!! kidding  i drink straight vodka w/a diet soda chaser... 64 cals per shot0
-
serious note: do not bank too many calories in one particular day to be able to enjoy more drinks that night. you will be drinking on an empty stomach, and that is not good.
like many others have suggested, cut down a little on your drinks. matter of fact, pre-log two or three drinks, and stick to just that, and don't be afraid to go over the calories MFP gives you with alcohol.
also, if you are 50-100 calories under every day leading up to your night out, you can put those in the bank for alcohol. but i wouldn't make any of these too much of a habit.0 -
Don't take no notice of this empty calorie pants, If you love going out then do it! Just stick to diet mixers and you're on to a winner! Eat low fat carbs during the day and allow cals for drinks, the carbs will soak it up so you don't get too drunk... Best advice of all, dance dance dance!!! Shake the booty hard and theres no such thing as empty cals!! You'll burn them off before you get your taxi back home! ;-)
Good luck missus!0 -

Whew! I'm glad no one told me that before I met my goal last April. I hope I don't stop maintaining now that I've been schooled. :drinker:0 -

The only problem I have with alcohol is that it's too expensive.0 -
I just starve myself all day long so I can drink all I want at night.

lol i work in the club scene, it is hard.
there is not an alcoholic beverage that will be okay to drink.
u could do vodka water which was already suggested.. or just stay with shots....hard stuff though..0 -
Di Saronno and diet coke - 85 calories or gin & slimline tonic0
-
FYI, just watch your calories - I see people suggesting vodka & soda, vodka & diet etc for 60 calories...actually, there's 60 calories in 1 ounce of vodka - most bartenders will pour 2-3ounces to make your drink. Just be careful with that!0
