I am new to this site. I am 5'2, 25 years old, no children yet. I have been wanting to lose weight for a while now. When I met my fiance 9 years ago I weighed 118lbs, now I weigh 174....I was looking back at pictures a few months ago from 7-8 years ago and my fiance didn't even think it was me...We are getting married in October 2012 so I really need something to motivate me, I would like to get back down to at least 130 by the wedding and eventually 115-120. I Know I would be so much happier with myself because now I have such a low self esteem...almost 8 months until our wedding and I havent even tried on wedding dresses yet because I am so discusted with myself!

I feel like I NEVER have any energy at all, I feel like I am so lazy! I run an In Home Day Care out of our home so I watch children all day from from 6:00am-6:00pm. By the time the children leave and I make dinner its around 7:00/7:30...I can't get my butt to the gym!!!! I feel like just going to bed after dinner.

I have tried to lose weight twice in the past year, I have only did it for about a month and only lost 3-4 lbs( which a lb a week is what I am wanting) but I just got discouraged because I want to see results quicker :(

Anyone have any advice? I am reading all of these postings and looking at before and after pictures hoping it will motivate me...My problem is getting myself in my car to go to the gym

Take a vitamin B complex, it helps you metabolize your food into energy. :) You can do what ever you set your mind too.
  • The one thing that truly puts me in the mood to work out is getting into my "work out" clothes. Once I have them on I feel like I NEED to work out. Why don't you designate certain clothing for just working out that way the same thing happens to you. Oh and I also put my hand weights where I can see them so they haunt me til I use them and I have work out "apps" on my home page of my phone so I know I need to get back to using them!

With your schedule I would say skip the gym and focus on short exercise videos you can do at home. Jillian Michaels has some intense videos that are only 20-30 minutes long.

I would also suggest doing some food prep on the weekend so that you can have meals already prepared during the week that only require heating up.

The gym isn't going to be the right answer for you, clearly. If you're tending kids all day, at the end of the day of course you want some time to unwind!! Maybe a first step could just be going for a walk with your fiance after supper. During the day, can you get the children involved with something physical? Take them for a walk, or if it's too cold out then do something inside like follow the leader or groove to children's dance videos with them. It will be good for all of you, tire them out for naptime, and give you a boost in the middle of the day. And kids are so non-judgmental - sure they'll think you're a riot but they won't be laughing AT you.

    You can do it!! :o)

I always have trouble making my self go to the gym allso. Once I'm there 10 to 15 mins and my heart rate is up and blood a pumping I'm glad I did. The trick is just getting yourself there.

I work until 6pm too and by the time i get home its like 630ish and then cook and clean..etc..so i know exactly how you feel about no energy...i started with videos 1 week ago and once you find the "time" to do it you can start a new routine...i try to fit it in right before dinner or right after so that its not to late ... if I have the time to watch a 30 minute show i can work out for 30 minutes..try jillian michaels 30 day shredd..love it...this week i also startd to walk for 30 minutes...just get started!

    My new motto:No Excuses!

Try these multi-vitamins. Take at lunch and they'll carry you through to bedtime. They're the best I've ever had.

PhysioLogics Phytotality Daily (Green Formula) 120 Caplets

If going to the gym is a problem, work out at home! Beachbody has sooo many wonderful videos, you'll never get bored. Just pick your program, grab some handweights and you're good to go. There is always a group of MFP members doing any one of the programs together, so you have lots of support and motivation on these boards.

Do be sure to strength train and build up muscle to speed up fat loss. Cardio alone isn't enough by a long shot, in my experience.

Oh, and a heart rate monitor is ***very*** important. When I got mine, I found out I was overtraining big-time. My heart rate was way too high. This made exercise something to dread and sometimes painful. Since using the HRM i actually enjoy working out. When I stay in the proper zone, it's not all that hard to do 45 minutes of cardio. Makes a world of difference, truly.

Try focusing on what your eating and making sure that your choices are healthy and are kept in the range for weight loss. Working with children, I would assume they need exercise/play time, you should be right in the thick of it. Jump rope, hola hoop, hop scotch, play toss, basketball, jungle gym....lead them in the play. If you have the energy and time in the evening, try a DVD that you enjoy. Also, try being patient. Don't focus on your size or weight as much as how you will feel taking back some control. Be kind to yourself and treat yourself the same way you would your best friend. :)

Good point....I find that this is always my issue, getting myself to just get my workout clothes on. Once I'm in them, I have to go. The biggest struggle is just getting yourself to the gym.
