Hay, Navy men have the sexiest dress uniforms of them all!

thank you... I guess it's a little hard to run a 5K in that uniform

I'm so jealous - Firemen and Marines

I wanna sign up for the Fireman and Marines 5k. Where is THAT one held?
 I've not run a 5k before, and I barely trot for 3 minutes before getting tuckered out but one day I plan to participate.

You can do it! I started my running a year ago, more of running in place in front of the TV and was out of breath quickly. BLAHHH!!! I'd set my timer for 10 minutes and jog during a commercial. Only a few days when by and I decided that 10 minutes although for lazy me was tiring, I could do more. I'd set my timer for 30 minutes and stop it when the show I was watching came back on. During a commercial break I would continue the time. I would repeat this until my 30 minutes was completed.

I then thought to myself, "Self? Get out of the house and try the road!" So I put shoes on and trotted down the road only to get a few houses down. I kept up the work and went further and further. Now I kind of figure when I get tired, I'm only out of breath, I'm not DYING! So I push further.

The rest is history! Hokay, maybe not history...but I'm not as tired or lazy anymore. LOL

What's the difference between Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force?

    Great story!!
I have a similar version about this girl who looked like a Hooters waitress during my last 1/2 marathon, but yours is better.
But, it is time for you to fess up. You placed in the top 5% - doesn't sound too Saint Bernard-ish to me.

Placing in the top 5% just means I was a better guesser than most. LOL

Thanks so much for this story! What an inspiration! Your goals are TOTALLY my goals!!! :) And you're quite the funny writer, too! :)

I just started a couch to 5k in 6 weeks (May 2nd) and today was my first 1 mile run--I was so pleased that I ran the whole thing. Okay, granted, it was a pretty slow jog, but I didn't need to stop once. Tuesday is my next "run" day and I'm hoping to do more like 1.5 to 2 miles.

And LOVE the firemen and marines, LOL. That makes it all the better!

Great job, good for you. You should make your avatar a picture of you in your new fancy t-shirt! :)
