Did I ever say (when you log your food, to log apple as -80cal Or to not even bother logging these foods?)... Nope, don't think I did.
No need to get nasty. however, I'm a bit confused. How can you call them "negative calorie" when you admit that you log them and they have positive calories in the database?

And yes, I know your original argument states that the body uses more energy to digest it - but that digestive "burn" or any natural "burn" is taken into account from your activity level when setting up your profile here. Or if you are using another site, that "burn" is taken into account with your TDEE

I believe in negative calorie food. If the food has no calories but your body has to burn calories to digest it then I'd consider that a negative calorie.

It doesn't matter if you believe it or not, it's still not true.

Lol, I'm not exactly sure how that would be classified as "nasty" but you obviously don't know me, therefore you have no idea what tone I'm speaking in, not ment to be nasty.

I have already done my research... instead of calling them negative calorie foods they should call them power food - these are obviously good sources of nutrients low in calories <-- that should be the focus of the discussion.

We live in a society in which everyone wants something for nothing - that is why the phrase "negative calories" might be so catchy.

• Negative Calorie Foods - A negative calorie food is a food that is purported to require more food energy to be digested than it provides. That is, its thermic effect is greater than its food energy content.
Enjoy :)

Asparagus, Apple, beet, blueberries, broccolli, cranberry, cantaloupe, carrot celery, chicory, cauliflower, cucumber, dandilion, endive, garden cress, garlic, grapefruit, green bean, honeydew, hot chili peppers, lemon, lime, lettuce, mango, onion, orange, papaya, peach, pineapple, radish, raspberries, spinach, strawberries, tomato, tangerine, turnip, watermelon and Zucchini.

Cool, I'm going to eat a diet of 10,000 cals a day of just these foods, I'll be shredded in no time. Thanks OP.

haha :)
"I'm not backing down, you don't agree with what I say, that's fine with me no sweat off my back. I will continue to eat endless amounts of fruits and veggies and continue to be fit ad healthy... thank you "
You sound like you're at war with something/someone :D You were the one who posted the thread on a forum where everybody counts their calories for every little thing they eat (and are successful with it) and then you're surprised when people don't agree with whatever the point of that theory is supposd to be.

So boohoo fine, don't back down and keep eating your veggies and fruits and either log or don't log them. Big deal, who cares anyway what anyone else eats/logs when at the end of the day only our own calories count.

It was simply the title of the artcle I read and when posting, I originally thought the word "negative" ment only that these foods if eaten raw (or slightly cooked) may take longer for your body to digest and may burn more calories then the average 10% expended when digesting food. (well that's how I worked it out in my head) It came from someone else, didn't put much thought into someone elses title for their post. I just relayed the info. I posted the web address on my 2nd post on this thread. (it's the first one)
• When I went through Bulimia I ate most of those foods thinking they were 'negative' after talking to dietitians while trying to get healthy again I learnt that the 'negative' thing simply isn't true.

I love everything on this list, except for lettuce. I refuse to eat, its tasteless with almost zero nutritional value. I usually replace it with rocket or spinach.

Whilst there is no such thing as a negative calorie food it seems undoubtedly clear that if you incorporate the foods included in the OP you will be able to eat a greater volume of food for less calories than say processed stuff.
Poppycock. Eat mangoes for a week and see how fat you get!

Lol - I did clarify later about fructose in fruit and liver glycogen meaning a potential natural cut off signal to prevent over eating but yeah, I get your point.

As for eating mangoes for a week, well, considering my ethnicity I have eaten a metric tonne of them and I managed to tell the tale!

Didn't read the entire thread. But yeah, the year my partner was posted to Delhi, I ate at least two or three of them every day that they were in season. I mean, what an amazing thing to have growing in your garden!!!

While I miss them dreadfully, I'm also very very grateful that even the specially imported ones we get here in England are invariably inferior to the various types I enjoyed over there.

The only "free" food is the food handed out at Sam's Club.

Calories are calories. 7 calories of celery and 7 calories of beef are still 7 calories.

Now, we could talk all day about nutrients. But a calorie is a calorie .... and 3500 = a pound.

Exactly!

I LOOOOVE unicorn meat!!!!!!! :)
