I leave for Vegas this coming Sunday with my bestest and her boyfriend to celebrate her birthday! party-smiley-551.gif

I've never been to Vegas and I am super stoked!!!! th_yipee.gif

In your personal opinions, what are the 'must sees' in Vegas?

We will be there from Sunday noon until early Wednesday morning.

PS- If YOU are a Vegas Must See, please note so.

    1. Take a drive/bus to Hoover Dam and do the tour -- Only about 30 min from Vegas
    2. Hard Rock Hotel - Body English (nightclub) -- I lived in Vegas 2 years and this was my favorite
    3. Mandalay Bay - Mix (ultralounge). You MUST go here. It's on the top floor and offers views of the entire strip. No cover before 10pm.
    4. Rum Jungle @ MGM -- Has great food and AMAZING drinks (yes expensive, but worth it to go for dinner to see the huge walls of liquor!)
    5. Tao @ Venetian - Both a club and a restaurant. The restaurant has AMAZING food, expensive, but amazing. Then you get entry into the nightclub for free or you get to at least skip the line (and there will be one!)
    6. Fountains @ Bellagio (no-brainer); They run every 15-20 minutes depending on the season/day
    7. Fashion Show Mall - Across from Wynn -- Has tons of stores and you may catch a fashion show while you're there
    8. Caesar Forum Shops @ Caesar's Palace -- You will get lost in here! It's a maze, but tons of great shops (out of my price range but fun to look, nonetheless!)
    9. Note: The TRUE "Downtown" Vegas is Freemont Street. It's North on the Strip in what locals would call close to the "ghetto". Unless you really want to go here, I would skip. 100% cheesy and not worth your time just to see the light show!

If you have any other questions, like stuff to do away from the Strip, let me know!

If you get tired of the "vegas" type stuff (though you're not really there long enough to do that) a cool daytime activity was the shark exhibit at Mandalay Bay. I am obsessed with sharks, so of course I loved it, but you can get some cool pics taken as you go in and the exhibit is really fun in my opinion.

    Great list from Fishernd.

What hotel are you staying at? I ask this because I found a little planning goes a long way in Vegas.

Gambler or person who likes to watch? helps determine if your time is in the casino's or the malls.

Biggest advice would be to have a good pair of walking shoes!!!!!

Did you want to go and see a show. If yes be aware that the shows are not on every night.

Thanks for such a great list! You named a few places I had on my list, and I'm so glad to have a local endorse them!

We will have a car for 2 days, so Laughlin might be in the cards.
What is Laughlin? What is there to do or see there?

MGM Grand. I meant to mention that initially but forgot.
Gambler or person who likes to watch? helps determine if your time is in the casino's or the malls.
I've never really been in a casino or gambled, but I know I'll play the slots a bit and maybe a little Blackjack. They might play more than I will... I'll be content to watch.
Biggest advice would be to have a good pair of walking shoes!!!!!
Check, check, check! Thanks for the reminder!!
Did you want to go and see a show. If yes be aware that the shows are not on every night.
Eh, take it or leave it.

    Hey Lauryn;

Great info at this site: http://www.vegas.com/traveltips/

Remember you have the tram near your hotel. One day you could ride to the other end of the strip and walk back to MGM. You would be able to stop at the various hotels, fashion outlet mall and some of the street vendor's.

    Have fun!!! :drinker:

IDK if they are still playing, but I hear that Blue Man Group is super awesome.

I didn't see the show, but my Dad, the SUPER TIGHTWAD paid $100/ticket to see the show, and said that he would pay it again to see it the second time. I cannot fully explain what a ringing endorsement this is!!!!

Stay away from the Penn and Teller Show.

Penn is an foul mouth, a-hole. Show was entertaining and would have been better if he had kept his mouth shut.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not a huge fan anyhow.

one question is your daughter going to be there?

IF SO go to as many of the free shows, IE the pirate show, The water show in front of the belagio (sp) and then you could go to the malls undergorund under bigger one than the belagio cant remember the name the ceaser? i dunno i think it was that because they had all sorts of old roman stuff which was cool.. actors inside the mall...

if you are not to far from New York which i think you are just south of their being at MGM grand but ride teh roler coaster up top of that because its FUN... it goes outside of the hotel :) ALSO I think its about the time f year although you would have to check but the light on top of the MGM atracts lots of bugs which in turn atracts lots of BATS and there are so many bats its amazing... it is a sight to behold...

you should bring me in your suit case... smuggle me over there and I will go every where with you  just fold me up to travel size
