[2] Why did you choose your username?
This username I chose a long time ago and is one of the things I consider to be one of the few times I have had a stroke true stroke of creativity. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. One of my favorite characters is Draco Malfoy, whose name means Dragon in Latin. I’m a young lady so I thought “what’s another word besides girl?” Unfortunately/fortunately for me I can’t spell so I got maidan instead of maiden. Which is fine with me because it means the username is never taken. Coincidentally enough I’m also a girl born in the year of the dragon making the name doubly effective.

My birthday is January 23. I just turned 23 last week. I’m an Aquarius and I love it!

My favorite animal is the ocelot. If you aren’t familiar they are a small “big” cat. They kind of look like leopards but at the same time they also look like house cats. We have them at our zoo here in NC and I have always loved to go look at them.

My favorite color is light pink. I used to hate the color pink. It was too girly and I just couldn’t stand it. Now I love it. I think most of it is I hated being labeled as a girl. And what was more girly than pink? So I liked purple instead, but over the last year I have come to realize I can like pink and be girl and then not be girly if I choose to be.

This question is really hard for me. I have a friend who is much lighter than me. She is now 130, which was her original goal weight. She loves to go into clothing stores whenever we go into the mall. I like going in there too. We find all kinds of pretty outfits, the only difference is she is deciding whether she should fit into a small or a medium and I am trying to cover my discomfort knowing that even if I fit into the largest size it won’t look good on me. So I guess there is no one piece I would like to wear, but rather just be able to go into the stores at the mall and know that I will fit into something and look good.
[7] Who inspires you on this journey of healthy eating, exercise & meeting your goals?
I really don’t know. I have moments of uplift where I feel like anything is possible and then I have moments of extreme depression where I feel like no matter what I do nothing is going to be achieved. I’m not sure there is anyone thing that inspires my to become fit, mostly I just ant to fit in.
[8] What are some tips you'd give to someone who was new to this whole fitness game? What helped you on your journey that someone may have told you, or that you have learned in passing?
I would say find someone who can light a fire under your *kitten*. Someone who if you reach for another piece of pie or want to get the burger instead of salad says no.
[9] What is your favorite exercise? You know, the one thing you do that doesn't even seem like exercise you like it so much?
I guess walking, or kissing, or kicking a soccer ball around with my girlfriend while we talk.

I’m not sure yet. I like something with a beat that keeps my on pace. I love electronic music and dubstep anyway so I guess those kinds of things. I am going to make a playlist then go through after I’ve listened to the songs while working out and see which ones worked for me and which ones didn’t.0 -

No one. I don't really have inspirations. I have my own mind and I just go on what I think. So I guess it's me, lol.

Ummm... I probably wouldn't tell them anything except warn them that if they quit there's a very high chance that a couple months later when they're crying about how fat they are they'll think back to when they quit. So if they don't want to cry later, stick to whatever the plan is now.
Now I should follow my own advise

Listen to your body! If you're under your calories one day but not hungry, don't eat. By the same token, if you've eaten "enough" but you're still really hungry (actually hungry, not just bored), eat something! also in the past people telling me I was too fat to run when I started @ 400+ lbs.

to me sleep is key. I over ate to compensate for my tiredness. plus forget exercise.
shoes are important. having good comfortable shoes does wonders for any activity.
patience. whether you have 200+ lbs. to lose or just those last 5 lbs. it takes time.
I find alot of people complain, get sad, unmotivated and give up when the scale doesn't show a loss. the scale is not your friend. it doesn't give 2 bags of monkey piss about you and your problems. it's a tool but not the only way to measure progress. measure yourself, how do clothes feel? how are you fitness wise?

Don't worry if you slip up, it's not a big deal, get back on it after!
You will lose loads at first, but it won't keep up that way, so don't stress about it.
When your clothes get too big you'll be really happy at first, but as it continues it gets pretty annoying that nothing fits. It's all worth it though!
Everything in moderation. I love cheese, so I manage to fit it in. And I eat fish and chips sometimes, I just make sure it fits in my daily goals!
And finally? Spanx are your friend. Fat day? Pop them on, you'll look and feel so much better.

I walk pretty much everywhere, so I've just been trying to walk a bit faster, and uphill! (Uphill, not fun.) I am not an exerciser. I try hard to do it, but I much prefer sitting on my bum.

My husband, he's always encouraging me to keep at it, and all the while making sure I know that no matter what physical appearance I have, I'll always be loved
A friend of mine that I met through the online gaming clan I joined a couple years ago. He lost over 300lbs through better food choices and exercising alone. His whole story is just so inspiring, I can only hope to be as successful as he was.

Keep strong, it's not an easy journey, but with lots of help and support from good friends (and sites like MFP), you can achieve the goals you set for yourself. Set short term goals, as well as a long term goal. That way you can feel accomplished with each short term goal you meet, rather than feeling bummed that it's seeming to take forever to get to your long term goal.

Well I haven't really done much so far other than walking, but I used to love weight lifting back in high school. I'm currently looking to purchase a weight bench and get back into it actually.
Aside from that, the thing that doesn't seem like exercise to me would have to be playing drums on the game RockBand. You'd be surprised at how active you are while you're playing. My online friend says that playing drums on RockBand played a big part in his initial weight loss.

Work hard and stop making excuses! Drink lots of water, keep your body fueled with good, healthy food! Get plenty of sleep! Take daily vitamins! Think positive, set achievable goals both short term and long term!
