Wheat Chex is excellent for getting in a daily dose of iron.

Are you sure sodium is the problem? A lot of things can cause hair loss, including simple stress or a hormonal change. I lost hair after I had my 2nd child. I know other people who lost hair after a stressful time in their life.

  • I agree with the posters who said you should talk to your doctor about your hair loss. There are all sorts of things that can cause hair loss, and guessing what the cause is without any other information is really going to be a shot in the dark.

My sodium intake is intentionally a little high, since I have POTS, but barring any weird health concerns, the recommended sodium intake is a maximum, not a minimum.
  • Himalayan rock salt tastes like salt becuase it is salt

my doctor saids that is not a salt...

    so who knows..

you might want to tell your doctor to go back and redo his chemistry.

rock salt or halite is the mineral of sodium chloride, sodium chloride is what we refer to as salt as oppose to pure sodium which is only about 40% of sodium chloirde (which is why foods say sodium amounts and equivalent as salt)

    Cheers

You don't want a lot of salt in your diet... it's bad for your health... stay around 1500-2000 less than 1500 is probably better lol

Hi, could anyone tell me how to get enough sodium in my diet? i only reach half the expected level at best, never had the recommended amount of iron either :/ i'v only been on this website for almost a week now, so still learning - thanks, lisa

I actually get very, very little sodium and was concerned about it, so I did some research. Turns out that while the body can handle more (and if you're not hypertensive, the worst side effect of too much is water retention), the body only actually NEEDS 500mg a day. If you're getting half of 2,500mg, then you're fine.

500 mg is the minimum for your body to function but you need more if you work out.
