can't stomach Denise Austin-- blechhh.
She's good for yoga, but if I had to do anything more strenuous than that, I'd punch the tv.
"Show me your pretty face." :indifferent:
Lyn - Was it leg warmers & side clips on the shirts? :laugh:0 -
Hi Ladies! My name is Sonja, I'm 34 and mother to one amazing 11 year old son. I'm a stay at home and homeschooling mom. I just started on MFP last week and I love it here. Would you mind if I joined in your conversations?
anyway, glad to have you! :flowerforyou:0 -
welcome jason! so who's at home with you?? boys? girls? ages? glad you can join in :flowerforyou:0

denise austin is goofy.
tho---i have one of her dvd's for getting fit with kids. we've done it a couple times, but my older girl doesn't like it. she and the rest of them love the women's health workout in 10 dvd! they want to do it more often.
lyn--my leslie sansone is from 2008, i believe. so clothes are pretty normal.
alright--i'm gonna rest. it's caught up with me today...later folks0 -
I have a Denise Austin pilates tape. So annoying. You can only hear "Your spine is your lifeline. Keep it healthy. Keep it supple. Keep it strong," so many times. That's probably why I haven't done the tape in like 3 years. Recently I watched it and wrote down the moves so I can do it by reading my notebook.0

Lori your new pic of Harley is adorable!
Stacey my WATPs dvd says 2002 but I'm pretty sure it was filmed in the 80s...leotards, tights...I think one chick has her shirt knotted on the side...no leg warmers but scrunched socks...so maybe the 90s
In my "cleaning out the old stuff" adventure I found....
the Official 29 minute workout Tummy Toner with Cynthia Targosz (1987)
and Body Flex (oh yes the infomercial from around 1997) What a joke that one was!
Anyone else have workout vids they are ashamed of??0 -
arrrggghhh!!!! :explode: :explode: RANT FOLLOWS
the day is not off to a good start!! and it's all stupid stuff. baby can't find his truck and mcqueen. he put it somewhere last night and dh cdn't find it (didn't tell me either) and now baby is whining for his fave toy. i've looked everywhere--inside, closets, outside, garage/car. how does something disappear when it hasn't left the house?! :noway:
and why is it that night after nigh dh cannot tidy up the house before bed? he stays up till 11 or so, i'm long since asleep and i come out in the am to whatever stinkin mess there was the day before. really is it that hard to straighten three pillows on the couch and fold the lap blanket?!or to put away the open crayons and coloring book that HE used with the baby? hmmph
big sister decides to arrange an april fools' trick for me. it was clever, but of course she had to spill and didn't clean up. she switched the rice krispies w/the corn flakes (inside the boxes) and had trouble getting the cornflakes to fit and many spilled. haha. funny trick.
and #2 woke up with fever and boogy nose. in her baby sweet voice asks, "so i can't go to dance today?" she has dance class at her preschool on weds. dh says give her advil and send her anyway. really? i'm sure the other p's would really appreciate that! not to mention that when it wears off i'll get a call at some inconvenient time, like when baby napping.
dh did offer to come take one of the kids if that would help. that was nice of him.
i have a dr's appt, but can cancel with no $ penalty, and the sitter is already scheduled. i think this should be my plan: cxl dr appt, keep #2 sickie at home, have nanny play with/take care of baby and find that truck, and i do laundry and fully clean the house.
what do you think?? and tia for the sympathy, groans and hugs--0 -

I'm ashamed to admit that I have Body Flex... it's BAD... it's REALLY, REALLY BAD! LOL!
I also have CherFitness:A New Attitude - which is now extremely cheesy to watch but can still kick my butt!!!0 -

Oh wow... I think we've all had days like this. You poor thing. I think your plan sounds good as long as your Dr's Appt wasn't for anything major... just remember that you HAVE to take care of yourself first, otherwise you're no good for your family. Don't overdo it though - work on cleaning a little at a time otherwise you'll feel too overwhelmed to take care of your sick child.
Deep breath, cup of tea and relax... you will do what you can today and whatever you manage to get done WILL BE ENOUGH.0 -

I think I still have a couple of old Jane Fonda tapes laying about-- they gave me a good workout, though, once upon a time-- in my late '20s-- a long, long time ago :grumble: -- I was in awesome shape using her videos. Then life kicked me in the *kitten* and I stopped doing what was right and good for my ol' bod here--
Trying to remember this day that the following is precious and not aggravating. Here I am, 44, dirt poor right now, aggravation out the wazoo-- trying to keep that in perspective-- and I'm sitting on the living room floor that's in need of vacuuming with my three year old in my lap and my one year old to my right-- the three year old has a mole fetish developed during his time nursing. So, he has his hand down my shirt trying to get my mole on my chest which is just below the collarbone-- my one year old has a hair fetish, so he's sucking his fingers and has a handful of my hair at the nape of my neck.
I'm totally immobilized by these two-- I'm ready to blow my stack and then force myself to remember that these two little creatures are gifts, and this time is precious. (got that? Precious, Marla, not an annoyance-- there....) :noway:
There are days when I long to be like "normal" 44 year old mothers with their youngest child in high school and "thisclose" to having their "life" back-- then again I have to remember that this IS my life, these kids are my life and I am here for them. Easier some days than others-- today's not one of 'em.
Oh well-- no sense bitcching about what things are-- never helps (long term, anyway-- the short term venting is primo, though-- )
Heading to work ladies-- blessings be yours this day!!!!!! :flowerforyou:0 -

oh, marla--big hugshere you are stuck in your own situation and you still reached out to me with your kind words. THANK YOU
i know what you mean abt them being precious, and that this IS your life. i have those thoughts lots of times. i asked for/wanted/prayed for each one of my kids and have been blessed to have them. and in the early am and bedtime--i remember that the best.
i also wonder abt what my life has become---when i dwell too much it can be discouraging, but the truth is, there's no other "job" i'd want to have. i think it's just that some days it feels so hard to do (I can't even begin to imagine what it's like with 9 and schooling and work). not whining, just saying that certain things i didn't expect to be difficult and they turned out to be. kwim? and yet, i still wdn't trade it for anything. you could give me millions $ $$ and i still would pick what i have--living in las vegas and all.
so thanks for sharing your **ugh** moments, too. i know i'm in good company. :flowerforyou:
the dr appt wasn't critical. so my health isn't jeopardized in any way by skipping it. thanks for that extra bit of concern.
well, on to the "job." i hope everyone has a day rich in LIFE. :smooched: (me blowing kisses)0 -
oops! sonja, i'm so sorry. i didn't see the post was from you. thank YOU for your kindness. i espec like what gets done is what gets done. very helpful perspective.
dh came home for a bit and found the truck (in the play kitchen's cabinet) and took #1 to school. that helped. and then i cleaned 2 of the 3 bathrooms and started laundry and dishwasher. soooo on my way. thanks again for your caring.0 -
Feeling depressed today. As you know my hubby and I are trying to make no.4 we gave it a go this month although probably wont next month as it would put due date as xmas day not what I want and the month after I will be in florida and he will be home probably missing that vital time when we need to be together. But I am confused TOM not due til Fri/Sat but started spotting 2 days ago just a bit very very very light I have sore breasts feel bloated tired this has never happened before oh yeah and indigestion I spotted with my son at 5 wks preg and with my daughter at 20+ wks preg but never before wondering if it implantation bleeding or if it just hasnt worked why cant things be simple. and I want to cry at the slightest thing and kill my hubby for the slightest thing too it is just wait and see if TOM comes properly at the weekend just feelin fed up.
Cant seem to get motivated to workout though did spring clean the house today so I suppose that counts.
My son was in a play at school yesterday he did great they had a 7 yr old little girl sing a solo I think the whole audience nearly cried she was perfect and so cute.
Have a good day all sorry for moaning will be back to normal soon.0 -
tazzy--isn't that so amazing those kids with those beautiful voices! glad you got a chance to enjoy it. and no worries re: tom--it's a very hard thing to deal with when you're ttc. you're so emotionally charged, like a live wire. try to do other things to help make the days fly by. hugs :flowerforyou:

Hello! Here it is Thursday and I am just now finding time to pop in to say hello! What a busy week! My youngest son turned 8 yesterday and I've been trying to get his birthday party together for tomorrow. We're having pizza and chocolate cake - and I want some! - so I will be eating vegetables only for the first part of the day, probably!
Sara - Just wanted to chime in my thanks also for keeping this thread going! Even if I don't get a chance to post, it's encouraging to read the posts.
Marla - How are your new Walmart shoes working? I need to buy new ones also. The ones I have (from Walmart) are 7 years old and almost flat on the bottom. I probably am going to do some damage to myself if I keep running in them!
Beth - congrats on losing 30 lbs!
Loree - I'm sure Harlee looks cute with her 1st tooth. It is so hard to see little babies begin to grow up...but they get more and more fun as they get older, too!
Dana - I'm sorry you have so many stressful things going on right now!
Melinda - How is Turbo Jam going? What exactly do you do in that workout? I am not familiar with it.
Sonja - Welcome to the group! My oldest son is 12 so our boys are close in age. It's nice to see a SAHM with some older kiddos!
Stacey - I hope your week is going better now!
Tazzy - I'm praying right now that you are pregnant or that you become pregnant soon!
To anyone else I missed - sorry about that! Hope you are having a great week!
A random thought...why is it when I lose weight, my chest gets smaller but my legs get BIGGER? I know I will never have dainty legs with skinny ankles - I'm just not built that way. But since exercising more, my calves are getting huge. Thankfully my husband likes the bodybuilder look, but it is frustrating!

Why do I suddenly feel like Rainman? Oh, wait a minute-- he liked K-Mart, not Walmart-- whew!
Shoes are working well, thanks-- hips and knees were a bit sore, I'm guessing just because I was landing differently-- but that worked itself out-- I'm feeling great. I got men's shoes 'cause I'm still in the 170s and women's shoes are usually too tight anyway, and I thought I'd get better support from men's shoes. For $25, I'm verrrry satisfied.
Must get back to work-- hard to stay focused today-- it's so beautiful outside, and my topic that I'm transcribing is geology and earthquakes. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Have a great day all!0 -

hi mommies! hope your day is going well. we're hangin in over here.
i'm glad i kept #2 home yesterday b/c by last night she was throwing up and today--so off to the dr. stomach bug = throw up = shot of zofran to stop that. and she has strep, too. poor baby. :frown: she's started with her antibiotics and for being such a brave girl she got h.s. musical 3 (cuz you know i was just waiting for an excuse to buy it!). so she's set up in her room with laptop watching the movie and baby is sleeping and now i can enjoy my salad in peace. ahhh.
i hope you all have a wonderful afternoon--later --0 -

Oh well I not preggo this time but will try again in a month or so dont want to try this month as my due date would be Xmas or shortly after and I really dont want that. I think we will wait till we get back from vacation at the end of june but in the meantime I will lose the rest of the weight I want to lose have a great holiday and will find out in roughly 2 -3 weeks about the puppy that we have been waiting for for 2 years (it is my dream dog a blue merle rough collie to be called phoenix) one girl dog is due 21st apr and the other at the end so got plenty to keep me busy.
I knew it would upset me even though it doesnt matter if it takes all year to get pregnant t was still a little upsetting but we are both still taking good vitamins so that when we try again we will be in tip top condition and hopefully it will happen then if not I am blessed with 3 amazing kids and I will be happy with that.
No exercise this week just not felt like it diet been ok though but weight stayed the same. Kids off school now for 2 weeks so will get myself back on the exercise wagon this week and hopefully see the scales move downwards very soon have a great weekend all.0 -
Sorry that you didn't get pregnant this month, Tazzy! Hopefully you will be soon!
Keep up the good work with the healthy eating - 10 lbs lost is great! Getting a new puppy is also very exciting. I'm sure your kids will love that!
0 -
vicky--i'm sorry you didn't turn out pg.
you seem to be taking it in stride. and that you kept your eating in check is great. good work.
how exciting about the puppy! i think the cover of the most recent issue of Forbes mag has a top dog breeder--sells his pups for like $20,000 and has long waiting lists. his labs are gorgeous! anyway, good news for you that yours is to arrive soon.
hope you all have a great saturday!0 -
$20k for a puppy? :noway: Wow, there's a great SAH job.0

I like it!
I wouldn't mind helping keep it going if Sara needs a break!
Seems like this is getting to be a busy time of year!
Hope everyone had a great weekend of healthy eating! I didn't (the healthy eating part) but at least I didn't gain anything back! I am hoping for a week of no transgressions and a lost pound this week!0
