These chips don't taste as amazing as I remember

Just had chips, they tasted so greasy and not half as amazing as I thought. I'll give them to a friend or something so it's not considered wasteful, but WOO, now I hopefully won't crave them anymore after this!

Has anyone else experience something like this with any food, primarily junk food after starting this weight loss/fitness journey?

Definitely. As one article said 'the greatest thing exercise does is make your body cravy healthy things. Just yesterday I was binging on chocolates at work. I stopped myself, went power walking a half hour, came back, looked at the sweets and thought bleeeeh. I know, I still binged, but I ate half as much as I normally would have.

Soda. I drank a soda a couple of days ago, after not having one for months, and it felt like I was drinking straight sugar!! I couldn't even finish half a cup.
  • Yep! Happens to me all the time now. Especially when I get in a bind and have to get fast food. It tastes like a greasy salt lick.

I had a grape soda for the first time last summer since I was a kid and it tasted like metal. It was so nasty I was sad it ruined that great childhood memory for me! lol

Guess I'd better stay away from grape soda! I haven't had a soda in a month or so. I used to have a HUGE sweet tooth and it is diminishing the more I stay away from sweets. My rule now for sweets is it better taste DAMN worth those calories! No more nasty store bought cakes my mother in law buys. Only ice cream I'll eat is stuff I make.

Since I incorporate junk into my routine life/calorie limit, I still enjoy it VERY much. The one exception is Cheesecake Factory. I ate there and the richness of the food damn near KILLED ME! I have actually sworn it off forever after the experience. In the spirit of full disclosure, I do only eat salt free chips though.

I can't eat anything from a drive-thru ... I made the mistake of "rewarding" myself with a McD's fish filet and fries after several months of healthy eating...OMG I barely made it home ... I can't imagine ever eating one again unless I am seriously constipated. Greasy food for me is just like a laxative.

I feel the same way about the Little Debbie peanut butter chocolate wafer - Not worth the calories - not a good taste any more

Halloween-size chocolate bars.... I don't remember them being so bland! And McDonald's chicken nuggets. Even the smell of them makes me nauseous.

Junk food still tastes great to me, but at least I'm getting to where I prefer healthier foods over the junk. Example: My new favorite snack is celery and peanut butter. I come home from work craving it, and it seems more appealing than some Reese's out a vending machine. I made some tea the other night and didn't have to add sugar because it already tasted sweet to me. Small signs that I'm getting there.
  • My wife and I cut out most takeaways last year (before we began to try and lose weight - just an attempt to eat a bit more healthy), then had some KFC after a few months. We both felt very ill afterwards! McD was the same.
  • so true; many times when I'm exercising I'm craving berries... and then usually I'll eat lots of blueberries/rasberries! (and not driving to McD any more  )

I worked at a pizza place in college. I loved their deep dish pizza, but when I started to work there I convinced myself it was disgusting. Spending hours past your elbows in greasy pizza pan dishwater should have been enough to maintain the self-deception. It actually worked for over a year, until that one night when I was really hungry. It was all downhill from there. Luckily I finished college a couple of months later and quit that job.

Agreed! I totally can't eat KFC or McD's. They both give me a horrible stomach ache.

As a kid, I loved Little Debbie, any kind, it didn't matter.

When I hit like 20, they started tasting ...just greasy.

I still crave on occasionally - I am always disappointed.

I recently had a meal at McD's and drank fanta for the first time in a loooong while. God it was sugary! Like, if you took a glass full of sugar, added a bit of water and orange flavouring. It would taste the same! In fact that's probably the recipie.

Also my mom quit all sugar cold turkey ages ago. And now she thinks it's disgusting. Like, she used to love this one kind of honey covered milk chocolate, but now she can't even have 85% dark chocolate without being all "Eew too much sugar!".
