Protein Bars

I am not necessarily looking to overdo protein because I do not want to bulk up, but I do like to have it in my diet. For breakfast every morning I have Luna nutrition bar. The bars do not overdo the protein, but offer about 18% of my daily intake. They taste good, too. My favorite flavors are: chocolate dipped coconut, honey pretzel, smores, and iced oatmeal raisin.
Unless you are pushing some SERIOUS weight in the gym and doing 'roids, you will NOT bulk up.0 -
I agree with Quest bars or I also use p90x bars when I am in a bind. I find that the other bars on the market make my stomach very upset because of the sugar alcohols they contain. The quest bars are low carb and very little sugar alcohol. p90x bars also do not have any artificial things, but are higher in calories and sugar, so I just eat half at a time. You can sign up to get 2 free samples of quest bars on their website, it will take about 5 weeks for them to come.
Not if you're in Canada. I'm sad. LOL0 -
I like the Special K ones from the grocery store... 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, 170 cals. I like them... and the fiber doesn't hurt my stomach and make me gassy.... :blushing: like some of the other fiber bards out there... like fiber one.
I also like the double chocolate one.. because it makes me feel like I am eating a candy bar. lol
You feel like you're eating a candy bar, well, because you basically are.
The Special K Protein Bars have a TON of sugar in them! 15g to be exact! Not to mention the ingredients actually state SUGAR and CORN SYRUP in the top three. Not good at all.
I personally wouldn't recommend eating those to supplement protein.0 -
I love Luna and Clif!0

I love Balance Bars, particularly the S'mores ones!!! Delicious:-)0

On their website it looks like they ship to Canada. I couldn't find where to sign up for the free samples though.0 -
You can also get quest bars from netrition.com. That's where I get mine. I've tried all flavors on both their lines, and they are all quite good.0

I've never heard of Think Thin bars. Any suggestions for where I can pick some up? Thanks!0
-
Right on with the Quest Bars...order mine on Amazon. Much less sugar and less processed than some other bars. The Berry ones taste like oatmeal cookie dough. Yum!0

My favorite brand is Pure Protein. They have some of the best tasting flavors. Their 'Smores and Peanut Butter Carmel Surprise are my favorites right now!0

Clif Builder's Bars
Nearly all organic ingredients, but 270 calories. but 20g of protein. Basically satifies my sweet tooth0 -
I really like the thinkthin bars. The brownie crunch, chocoalte fudge and white chocolate ones are really good. They are not tough to chew or taste horrible, they are actually really good. Typically they have 20 grams of protein and no sugar. They have a variety of flavors. I have tried a lot of different bars and this is the only kind I like. Good Luck.0

I want one with not a lot of sugar0

Here are the protein bars I enjoy on occasion. I mostly use to replace breakfast on really busy days or for an on the go snack/small meal.
* Luna Bars (yummy for a snack, my favorites are chocolate dipped coconut, iced oatmeal raisin, and caramel nut brownie)
* Clif Builder bars (love the chocolate mint ones, the chocolate and vanilla almond ones are good also)
* Pure Protein (chocolate peanut butter tastes decent)
* Think Thin (the chocolate brownie crunch ones are awesome, just tried them a few days ago). Buying more of these soon.0 -
They are so expensive. Any tips on how to get them cheaper online?0

-

haha yup. I hope you like them!0 -
I eat the Maximuscle Cyclone ones. 216 cals, 24g protein, 18g carbs, 5g creatine, and some glutamine for glycogen recovery. I quite like them but a lot of people say they taste bad so... More for folk valueing the content over the taste I guess.
For homemade ones, I make these:

Where did you get the Think Thin bars?
I find that buying the Think Thin bars directly from their website is cheaper and they usually have coupons online0 -
I love the KIND bars, and I found an awesome recipe to make them at home. Way cheaper too

Pure Protein are my favorite, although I haven't tried that many. I love the smores flavor as well as the Pure Protein Revolution (it's like peanut butter caramel flavor). They have like the lowest calorie to highest protein ratio that I can really find in a protein bar. Although those Quest ones look pretty darn good..can't vouch for them though!0
-
Just updating to say that I got my Quest bars in the mail. They're awesome!0

I only make homemade protein bars -- and I HAVE to make them because my 4 kids are very picky vegetarians with gluten/dairy allergies, so I have to get protein into them somehow! :-)
I love the NoMeatAthlete.com recipe template because you can mix-and-match ingredients to change up the flavors. Here ya go:

I use chickpeas, bananas, almond butter, cinnamon, vanilla, Rice Krispies, quinoa flour, and chocolate chips. I also add in a tbsp each of chia seeds, raw cacao powder and maca powder for good measure! My kids LOVE these bars! They call them "cookie bars" and I put them in their lunch every day.0
