I totally agree with you on the Harry Potter. :drinker:

Ok, well, my suggestions may or may not be original, and lean towards the TV side of things, but: Andromeda (Favorite show ever, but I must stress: Watch the first one and a half seasons, then get on the internet and read something called "Coda," that's the story according to the original head writer and developer of the show, who was fired so the show could be more commercially successful after the episode "Ouroboros."), Dollhouse (Oh man just started watching this recently, it is excellent!).

On the perhaps more mainstream side of things: Castle (It's a detective show, but well written, and since it stars Nathan Fillion, a ton of references to Firefly which are pretty hilarious), Psych (Comedy/Detective show again, but alllllllllllll my geek friends love it, and with good reason, lots of sci fi references again and very fun), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (The Hitchhiker's Trilogy books, or the BBC Miniseries! Step away from the recent movie, repeat, step away!), and if you haven't seen Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, well then you pretty much haven't lived.

    Books: LOTR, Game of Thrones

Games: Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins, Fable 1, 2, & 3.

Love LOTR - books and movies. GoT is on the list. Have played Dragon Age Origins and Fable 2 and 3 thru multiple times. Putting off Skyrim until I get through Oblivion but it's on my list too! You have great taste

How about a bit of great music... Being in America I hadn't heard of Frank Turner until a friend in blighty told me about him a few days ago. Since then I've been geeking out on his tunes - they make me feel so great. Look him up on Youtube and listen to "If I ever stray", "Reasons not to be an idiot", "Photosynthesis", "Long Live the Queen", and "I Still Believe".

Ooooh, I like the sounds if that!

The.is for the ideas! I've seen some of them. Despite my mad Joss Whedon love I just couldn't get into Dollhouse. Love Castle, Nathan Fillion is the best! Have you see Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog? If not, do! I read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - yeah, movie sucked! I'll look for the BBC series. Maybe Netflix...

I wouldn't classify it as "geek" so much, but http://thebloggess.com/ is always a good time killer for me.
    The sarcasm is plentiful.
Makes me laugh and often reminds me of my sister and I.

Geek wise - I am SUPER SUPER excited for Comic Book Men premiering this coming Sunday on AMC. I listen to Tell 'Em Steve Dave weekly and am super excited for the show. I am a big Kevin Smith nerd.

I'll second the rec of Castle. You can't really call it geekery I guess, as it's mainstream TV, but it's loads of fun. It's probably my favorite brain-off TV show right now right alongside Leverage. My favorite brain-on show right now is Sons of Anarchy - hands down the best screenwriting since Firefly.

If you want something hardly anyone has ever read (it's not because they suck, I promise) you can read some of my stories via the "published" page on http://fearsandfables.wordpress.com. :drinker:

Doctor Who. I haven't watched the original series so I can't vouch for it, but the new series (starting with the 9th Doctor) is absolutely brilliant. If you've never seen it before you should give it a chance.

The first season may be a bit hard to watch, but the production values seem to have increased quite a bit since then.

Cool! And I'll definitely check out Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. :) It takes a few episodes to get into Dollhouse (about halfway through the first season they really start to develop story arcs, and that's where it gets really engaging, I mean it goes so much farther than the early episodes would lead you to believe).

Another thing I thought of is, though I haven't seen this, I'll give you the top of my "to watch" list as well, Alphas. I'll read or watch anything written by some combination of Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Robert Hewitt Wolfe (who is the one associated with Alphas). The writing is consistently top notch. :)

I like Castle. Nathan Fillion does dry humor so well! And I get all tingly at every Firelfy reference  I haven't watched Leverage or Sons of Anarchy *mental note*

I'm bookmarking your stories for bedtime reading

Avid Doctor Who fan here! He lives on my netflix queue right next to Captain Picard and Cap'n Mal.

i just got my copy of skyrim in the mail today and i dont know if i should install it now, or work on this really boring project i have to get done by next week...

    i'm thinking sykrim :)

If you install skyrim today, you probably won't get that project done haha...

There isn't enough spare time in the world to finish Skyrim lol.

Skyrim never ends. Literally. It was designed to go on infinitely. The quests might get boring after a while, but there will ALWAYS be something to do.

An awesome game, that never ends... they have finally seen the light haha.

i got it all downloaded and played for a bit.. its pretty awesome, i had to stop because i'm sick and couldnt concentrate :)

Here's how sad I am... I watched Dr Horribles when it was first broadcast online. I remember jumping up and down in my seat with anticipation before the first cast. :ohwell:

If you're up for a laff then there's a show that just started on Nat Geo that's pretty good fun so far - it's called "Doomsday Preppers" and it's about crazy survivalists building bunkers and stockpiling MREs. I watch it in part to laugh at them and in part to take notes for when I have enough money to build my own crazy person compound.

    Terry Pratchett - check!

I didn't find out about Dr. Horrible until I was able to watch all three at once. But I want more!!! I am looking forward to the Avengers movie though! After that maybe Joss will do another series.
  • Terry Pratchett is hilarious, and so is Black Books. Douglas Adams 4LIFE. But yes, George RR Martin is aptly called "the modern Tolkien" ... (and I love Tolkien!)

For your viewing entertainment (if this link doesn't work, I'll repost):

...bah, external links don't work. I put it in my new blog instead: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/layla_gabrielle/view/exterminomnomnom-209615
