to take a paycut? I do. I didn't get into the Fitness industry for the money. I got in it for the LOVE of getting people fit. Now I ain't gonna lie and say that I don't NEED the money, but I wouldn't leave my job because of a pay cut. When you get gratitude from people who's lives you changed through helping them get better, stronger, lose weight, or even help to get ready for competition, that overshadows the money that was made.
I enjoy my job because it's DIRECTLY helping someone I have contact with. Not too many other jobs can say that.

So do you love your job enough?

  • Yes. I work horses right now while going to school, and while a paycut would SUCK [I don't get nearly as much as I used to before the economy flopped] I wouldn't mind so much. I love horses, and i love riding and working with them. Doesn't matter if the horse is an *kitten*...they're just fun. I love being able to ride them and improve them, to enjoy their company. Horses are just...amazing.

I'm a CNA going either the LVN > RN route or I might stick with phlebotomy/mla...in that program right now while waiting for the status of my LVN course. I would not take a paycut in these fields, because I could easily find another job.

Have done so in the past while working for a small startup. All of the senior employees took a paycut, and the rest of the company was given a choice to do so or not, in a last resort to try to keep the company alive a little longer. We were working on pretty exciting stuff, and the risk/reward seemed worth it at the time. But in the end, we didn't make it. It was worth a shot.

    I'm a jaded 911 dispatcher.
I took pay cuts because I didn't have a choice, between furloughs, no raises, no holiday pay, retirement taken away...I swapped agencies. :p

Yes... I work close to home... I'm in the office alone almost all day.. And when the other people I work with are there I like them! My boss is cool.. I have 5 weeks vacation this year... I can leave early for basebll practice for my kids... I can go to the gym on lunch... Go for long luxurious lunches with my girlfriends... And I even do my nails at work. Yay me!

I work hard but I work harder at making it appear effortless!!! Lol!

Sortof. I hold a few jobs. One, pharmacy technician, I get paid near minimum wage, so no, wont say a pay cut on that. I also work a as a wedding dj, and that I frequently take a pay cut, because I give people extra discounts, just cause I feel bad about them being younger couples getting married on a budget. To soft i guess

Yes, I took a pay cut a few years ago with my job. They gave me a fat raise recently, though so it all worked out in the end.

I got a paycut @ my job. Lost $1 more an hour on the weekends and lost the volunteer pay bc the censuses are low. Don't know if it'll return to the way it was but I sure ain't gonna quit my job.

Nope, I already don't like my job. But then it is a bit easier here because the economy is still doing well.

I feel the same way about nursing. I am willing to take a paycut to be involved in saving or changing peoples lives for the better. It is my destiny to be a nurse. It is my passion. I chose nursing over motherhood.

I'm a Mental Health Nurse and I work with children and teenagers with mental health problems. I absolutely love my job and am soo passionate about it. BUT... I couldn't even consider a paycut simply because I can't afford one. My monthly bills are already more than my monthly wage so I already have to work overtime just to get by. It SUCKS big time to get paid soo little for such an essential job

I think I would. I work 11pm-7am including weekends so sucks for a social life. Financially it's good too. From a fitness and health point of view it's great. It's a desk job but it's low key, laid back. Rarely is it busy with plenty of downtime so I can go outside to get in workouts while at work. On weekends I'll just come in my workout clothes, wait for downtime which usually is around 2am, and go outside to do my thing. No one cares. No dress code or anything of the sort to enforce. Also since I get off at 7am so I can hit the gym after work and it won't be super busy or crowded. I've read from other friends that work your typical dayshift hours that it can be difficult to get a workout @ the gym during prime time 5-8pm.

I would and have. My Boss is great, he lets me work flexibly around my child care committments. I am a PA and he is a busy solicitor, when he works on a case he works very hard and is totally absorbed which means I get to be as well. It certainly gives great job satisfaction.
  • Hell NO, take this job and shove it

NO, absolutely no. I may have said yes a while ago but since then, they've fooled me a lot. They made me work later shifts in exchange for a payrise which I first didn't get and then, after complaining, gave me a ridiculous rise. I've been yelled at by my boss several times. They got new tenants for some of the offices and didn't even tell us who they were nor them that we're working Saturdays so three weeks ago, they locked me in this building. Currently, they're making me work less than my weekly hours so I end up owing them hours (read: money) and think that's okay. And there's a bunch of other stuff. A paycut is pretty much the only thing they haven't done, yet, and that would be the final straw.

they didn't need me so I left at least that's what I say they didn't need me they treated me like $*)$#*# so I left them hanging, no need to treat someone that way after they lost a family member who was like there father

I never expected to become wealthy doing my job in the first place. Aspects of my job are far more rewarding than anything monetary. As long as I have enough money to support myself and future family, I don't need to worry about anything else.

I really love my job - I'm a clinical nurse and everyday there's a new challenge to test me and keep me on my toes! But I feel that we don't get paid enough as it is for the work we do. We're basically on the frontline and often get abused physically and emotionally by patients and pretty much risk our own health to help others. No matter how much satisfaction I get from helping others, a pay cut would definitely make me seek an alternate profession.

I took 2 paycuts, there's nothing I can do because I don't stand a chance of finding another job, Ireland is in a recession and there are no jobs anywhere..

Spent 30 years in a job I despised, but it paid the bills (and ruined my health). It was almost a relief when I was forced into early retirement. I discovered I enjoyed teaching and taught in a local college for ten more years, then medical issues caused me to step aside and I began teaching on-line classes for a major university. As a consequence of physical therapy I also got into physical training, earned group training, T'ai Chi, and Senior Fitness Certificates. Now,I am lowly paid, but I love what I am doing. I part time work 4 days per week in a fitness club.

Our Tai Chi instructor that works here is also a retired gentleman and enjoys his teaching of seniors and younger members here as well. Tai Chi is such a great stress reliever and great way to just get "into" yourself.

Not a chance. I don't want to be doing this job and would definitely take that as a sign to move on immediately!

    Nope.

I work in my home as a childcare provider. I have 5 kids ( plus 1 of my 3 ) from 7:00am to 5:30pm. I work WAY too hard to take a paycut of any significant amount. The last time I worked it out, I made about $2 an hour per kid... before you take off feeding them and the wear & tear on my home.

I look forward to the day when I can leave work AT work.

I would, I truly love my job. Fortunately, I don't think I"ll ever be faced with that though. In the 50 years our company has been around we've never had to do pay cuts or layoffs. I work in the beer industry and let's face it, people aren't going to stop drinking beer anytime soon :)

That would be a hell no. I'm already underpaid as it is. And actually I'm already kind of looking for something else. I like my job, but I have new bosses I don't much care for.
