You are not alone! I can't stand the taste or smell of bacon! The smell of cooking bacon literally makes me nauseous! But I do not like breakfast sausage either - I can eat it but I prefer canadian bacon if I am having a breakfast meat.

I am totally okay with someone not sharing a love of the same foods I do, but I will argue that if you view bacon as greasy and 80% fat, you only know bacon cooked one way. Depending upon how it is cooked, bacon can be surprisingly lean while still packing a real punch of flavor.

Also, pork fat is generally easier to digest and lower in saturated fat than butter. Most of our perceptions of pork fat (lard) being unhealthy comes from early marketing attempts by the shortening industry. It is still a fat, but it's not as evil as we were raised to believe.

Okay... I love bacon: but for those of you who don't like it... this is the best bacon movie quote of all time!

    Pulp Fiction
    Vincent: Want some bacon?
Jules: No man, I don't eat pork.
    Vincent: Are you Jewish?
Jules: Nah, I ain't Jewish, I just don't dig on swine, that's all.
    Vincent: Why not?
Jules: Pigs are filthy animals. I don't eat filthy animals.
Vincent: Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.
Jules: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy motherf***er. Pigs sleep and root in s**t. That's a filthy animal. I ain't eat nothin' that ain't got sense enough to disregard its own feces.
Vincent: How about a dog? Dogs eats its own feces.
Jules: I don't eat dog either.
Vincent: Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?
Jules: I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
Vincent: Ah, so by that rationale, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?
Jules: Well we'd have to be talkin' about one charming motherf***in' pig. I mean he'd have to be ten times more charmin' than that Arnold on Green Acres, you know what I'm sayin'?

Not a big fan. I've discovered some all natural uncured bacon that I can eat upon occasion. (Just can't handle the preservatives in the regular stuff.) But I only bother if I'm cooking a meal for someone who really likes it. When I do eat it, it must absolutely be extra crispy.

Low sodium bacon is my life.

ETA: In response to other posters....a lot of bacon doesn't have preservatives, it's smoked to keep it naturally preserved longer.

Your right about most people loving bacon. I was a deli manager and we had bacon samples up early and then again at 4 every day. We had people demanding us to put those samples on the counter before we could get them cooked. After you see some peoples nasty habits with samples, most would be revolted to take a sample ever again. There was one man that had the greesiest nasty hair and he would start with a fresh toothpick and proceed to park the toothpick in his hair, return to the counter and reuse this same dirty toothpick to sort thru the bacon. I am a vegetarian and find it revolting even before it is picked thru with a nasty used toothpick. One of the clerks was not a vegetarian but would complain when she came on shift for having to smell the bacon cooking. It made her sick. You would not beleive how many people think the used dirty toothpicks labled trash, would dig for a toothpick in the trash and use this for their samples.
I know when I first started working in the deli, I had a nightmare about the pieces of bacon wiggling and squeeling while frying in the pan.

Wow....I'd never actually heard from anyone who didn't like bacon before....this is surprising that there's so many. I myself could eat bacon all the time if I let myself, but I don't

The OP is doomed to an existence of loneliness and misery. Oh, how such a thing could have been allowed to live without the love of bacon is beyond me.
  • I can't stand bacon! it's full of fat and salt. YUCK! Can't even stand the turkey bacon.
  • I don't particularly like it. I mean I can eat it but I never have an urge. Now if it's wrapped around a scallop that's a different story.
