Do you log your meals/snacks before you actually eat them?

  • On my work days when I know what I will pack and eat I always log in advance...... usually start with dinner and work backwards so that I can pack appropriate snacks etc.
I find it harder to do that on days off as I often eat out but if I know I will be eating out I try and make sure I plan around it and eat light the other two meals of the day

Planning is the key for sure. Having an unplanned menu ruins me

I've stopped logging because I've developed a sense of what is "worth" how many calories.

When I was logging I'd log everything in the AM and (as often happened) I'd use my exercise calories for snacking at night, I eat a lot of popcorn when I hit the gym.

    *sighs*

    I love popcorn.

I log before I eat. You know what they say: Fail to plan, you plan to fail!

Definitely, I log everything I know I'm going to eat ahead of time rather than having to interrupt the day to do it! It's also nice knowing in advance how much slack there is to play with around all the set meals.

Yes, I prefer to log ahead if I can, because it helps me make more informed choices throughout the day. If I know dinner will be 500 calories, then I know I have 1000 other calories to play with, for example

I definitely log in advance, sometimes I plan out a few days in advance. I get a weekly veg box delivered and often know what I'm going to have for dinner for the week, I also usually have a similar breakfast / lunch all week.

It isn't set in stone, I don't press the final button until the end of each day, but planning ahead does allow me to keep an eye on my macros and stuff.

Definitely - 99% of the time. I like to know what's in my meals before I prepare it, so I can adjust it accordingly (such as if there's too many carbs or not enough protein). I eat it, then make adjustments if I change my mind throughout the day.

I log everything I prepare for lunch and (healthy) snacks at the start of the day when I'm at work. I'm less organised when I am at home. It just helps me plan out my day better.

It also helps me decide whether to give in to 'that cake that person brought in for their birthday' or not, as I know approx how many calories I am still allowed- I alsways presume my dinner will be about 500 calories- this is generally less, but any calories left over I can then have in the evening.

    :flowerforyou: SIGHT IMPAIRED...

ACCOUNTABILITY.....ALWAYS LOG IN THE A.M., REPORT TO SPONSOR, ADJUST AT NIGHT + OR - AMOUNT...(VERY LITTLE ADJUSTMENT).....

PLANNING, LOGGING, REPORTING...MAKES ME TOTALLY ACCOUNTABLE AND HAS ADDED TO THE SUCCESS OF MY JOURNEY, WHICH I ADMIT HAS NOT BEEN EASY BUT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS.

    HOPES THIS HELPS:flowerforyou:

I pre-plan each day, including any snacks or treats I think I might want. That way I'm in control of knowing how many calories that would mean I'd consume, and I can tweak my daily plan to stay under calories. (This doesn't always work, but it does help keep me on track during the day.) If my day changes or I feel like eating something else instead of what I have planned, I update my diary to reflect it as the day progresses. I find this works really well for me. I don't get caught around dinner time with only 100 calories going, "Dangit! I shouldn't have had that snack!"
