I am looking for someone who has successfully been able to get their body back post twins. I have 3 kids and have had 2 C-sections. My twins just turned one last weekend and I really need some motivation. Will I ever lose this "twin skin"? I have no more excuses. They are a year old now! I have lost about 15 lbs but still need to lose about 15 lbs. My goal is 145-150. I am 5'8". I would like to wear a bikini again someday. I would love to hear some success stories. Pictures would also be great!

My aunt delivered 6 children--two sets of twins. One of her single birth daughters has twin boys. Both my aunt and my cousin look great!

I have twins and got back in shape about 1-2 years after they were born, after having gained 9 kg's. I lost 17 and was skinnier than before pregnancy. I lost weight without exercise though so I wasn't completely satisfied with how I looked. But basically everything was back to normal except some stretch marks..

I feel like i could have written your post! My twins just turned 1 last week and my oldest turned 2 1/2 in January. My goal is the same and so is our height...i'm buckling down to get motivated. I nursed until they were one so now i've got some major rejuvenating i need to accomplish for my belly to be where i want it. I have some saggy skin but it's not awful...it is definitely going to be diet and exercise to get it back to where it was. I only gained 55 lbs with the twins, had the c-section at 36 weeks 5 days because of baby a being breech. I had 13 lbs of baby in me...so i've got a few stretch marks and the wrinkly skin...but i have hope because i am ready to make the change. just have to find the energy and focus! Also, they say it can take 2 years for your body to go back after twins. Add me if you'd like.

It will get better!! I promise! Hang in there. I had twins almost 5 years ago and i remember thinking the same thing. I kept hearing in my head and being reminded of "it took me 9 months to get this way, it will take me 9 months to be back to normal." Not even!! It took much longer. I started working out like a maniac as soon as i got the o.k from the Dr. and I lost the weight super fast but the loose skin took much longer to resemble what it once did. Don't be discouraged, there IS hope! Keep exercising and taking care of you.

My best friends are 20 year old twin girls, and their mom is honestly the hottest woman over 45 i have ever seen in my life (other than jennifer anniston) (i know i spelt that wrong haha).

But it can be done! It takes motivation and total change of lifestyle, but she is SO HAPPY

I don't have any kids - but I just wanted to say that my friend's twins turned one last weekend, too!! (Well, actually - their birthday is on Valentine's day!) She has been doing great with weight loss only because she is still breast feeding. Apparently that has really helped her..... wish I had more advice! Hopefully some other mom's can chime in for you!

I had twins 3 1/2 years ago and just started working on getting back in shape. I started jillian michaels 30 day shred and some of the loose skin on my stomach has gotten better. I actually am starting to see a difference. I think it has alot to do with the elasticity of our skin to. Good luck

Hi im also a mum of twins, mine are 6 and a half months old and I also have a 6 year old son. Both were c-sections and our height is very similar (well i'm 5'7) I have 9lbs to lose and I will be back at my pre pregnant weight the just working on toning.

Im also doing the 30day shred dvd and im half way through and am starting to see a good difference through my middle and my legs. It can be done I will admit I have a way to go and dont have that nice stomach just yet but I aim to have it by June when I am off on holiday and determined to wear a bikini!!!

Having children change your body in a massive way but there are some fab looking people out there who prove you can have a good body after childbirth, it just is not easy to do and takes time.

Feel free to add me, always nice to have friends having the same battles as you, and from one twin mum to other- We'll do it. I am determined this is my time!! :-)

    GOOD LUCK. X X
  • I also feel like I could have written your post!!!! My twins just turned 18months and I also have a 3 year old. I'm just starting out on my fitness journey so I can't really give you answers but I'm also hoping for the same results to get rid of the "twins" skin. With my 3 year old I didn't have a c-section but I did with my twins at 36 weeks and 3 days due to my son being breech. I didn't gain a ton of weight while pregnant with them but I was HUGE and all belly. My twins were huge birth weights my son was 7 pounds 10 ounces and my daughter was 6 pounds 9 ounces. I had just about 15 pounds of baby in me so like the other poster I have stretch marks and a little saggy skin. It's not as bad as I had feared but I would still like to get it back as best as I can. I am finally ready to make a change and get back to being fit. I wish you the best of luck and all the other twin mommy's out there. It's not going to be easy to get the body I want back after twins but I feel that with hard work and dedication it's possible.

  • my twins are 4 1/2!! I also have a 6 yr old and a 18 months old : ) I am 5'3" and typically weigh around 125 lbs. i delivered my twins with a weight of 198 lbs YIKES! it took me almost 2 1/2 yrs to get my body back to mostly normal then decided to get pregnant again lol. hubby couldnt keep his hands off : ) now i am still trying to recover from my 18 month old. I am staying around 135-137 lbs. I have been doing p90x and some extra cardio at gym. i am now focuses more on toning/muscle biulding because of the loose skin on my tummy. its not horrific but it bothers me so i'm going to to keep working on it and if that doesn't work i will eventually get a mini tummy tuck! otherwise your body does bounce back just give it some encouragement!!!!!

I gained A LOT when I was pregnant with my twin girls. They will be 9 this summer. I carried them until 38 weeks 3 days and had to be induced, was lucky enough to have natural birth. They were 7lbs 5oz and 7lbs 3oz....heavy load.

a month after I had them I weighed 232lbs and am now 171lbs.... it was a long journey and I'm still going...actually I went down to 145lbs but gained about 40 back and am working on getting back down there.

twin skin...well I do have some excess skin that when I'm a bit smaller sometimes gets zipped up in my zipper but other than that it's not too bad. lol I tuck it in if it's in the way...sounds gross huh!

Just keep going, don't get discouraged , having twins run around is an excellent way to stay active!

My boys are 6 now, and I don't think I even remotely took getting back into shape seriously until they turned three. I was 60" around the day before giving birth and had a c-section. I started going to the YMCA when they turned three and spent about a year doing mostly cardio and not losing or tightening much. Then I started weight training with less cardio and started seeing better results. The third time we moved ( military..gotta love how it switches up your routine!) I knew a gym membership wasn't going to fit for me so I started p90x at home ( don't worry...I'm not a coach and am not selling anything!) and saw great results. Did several rounds and am now in the midst of round 1 of P90x2.

Long story long...lift weights...keep at it...and it is possible to do it all at home!

Just post pregnancy weight: 170 lbs
    Current weight: between 134-136 lbs.
Current goal : build muscle and then cut to 130

Mommy of 4 and half year old boy twins over her...Twin A weighed 8 pounds and Twin B weighed 7.5 pounds at birth...Delivered at 39 weeks via c-section...My body has completely changed.

I have been able to lose weight but I (in my case) don't see ever getting rid of all this skin without...A little nip tuck?

    Good luck :)

Twin mom here too, mine are a little over 2. I am nowhere near my goal, but I am trying to get there. Yes, I have that extra skin too and I hope it goes away one day. For the last 2 years I have pretty much lost and then re-gained the same 7 pounds. As of today I weight one pound less then after they were born...that is very very sad to me. Hopefully we can all get where we want to be!!! :)

Wow, I feel like this is my post. My twins are 26 mos and for the past 2 years I have lost and re-gained the same 10 pounds or so. I only gained 37 lbs while pregnant (they were born at 31 weeks) and lost all but the last 10 pounds pretty quickly. At one point I was about 5 pounds under my pre-prego weight and it was great, but didn't last. Unfortunately for me, I was about 30 pounds over my goal weight when I got pregnant, so now I am looking to lost 40 pounds instead of 30. I am tired of people asking me when my next one is due : O
  • Great testimony! Very inspirational.

See my profile pic? Well, now go check my "before" pic (at www.FabulouslyDomestic.com/about) where I had a 54"-across stomach with twins weighing 7 and 8 pounds each and was a brutal 205 pounds!! Your quest for a flat tummy IS possible!

But here's the real truth -- the only way you will truly get a flat stomach and a rockin' six-pack is to lose so much weight that people think you're crazy. In order for me to really get rid of that nagging fat sitting around the c-section area, I had to drop my body fat % to so low that my mother was ready to tie me down and force-feed me straight butter.

Now that said, I was SMART about how I lost the weight. I didn't crash diet, cleanse, or anything like that. I worked out HARD and intense -- no 1-hour sessions slogging away on stupid cardio equipment...just massively intense strength-conditioning workouts including kettlebell, weights, and plyometrics. I got really smart about what I ate -- whole foods, clean foods, unprocessed foods. View my diary and you'll see what I mean by that.

**disclaimer** If you see cheat foods in my diary now, just be aware that those are indulgences I can get away with now that I'm at my maintenance mode. While I was losing the weight, I didn't have those!! I was strict -- for about 6 months.

It's genetics as well. I had twins who both passed after birth but I looked the same as before in about a month. My mother was the same after she had her kids (no twins though) . When I had a single baby, I looked like I didn't even have kids in about 8 days. It's just the way our bodies work in my family. I didn't have any stretch marks except for 2 on my stomach until I got fat about 4 years ago. Now I have more stretch marks than I did when I was pregnant. :-/ Go figure. Anyway, fat can be lost but skin can only be so elastic (and that all comes from genetics). Do you have anyone in the near family whose had twins or has lost a decent amount of weight? If so, look at them and you might get an idea of what your skin might do. I wanted to add that I read recently that it can take up to about 2 years for skin to get as tight as it will after you lose weight or have a baby.

I am a mum of 5, my twins being the youngest and 2.5yrs old. I was at my healthiest when I got pregnant with them, and weighed 5lb more than I do now because I was toned with muscle. I have no more twin skin than I did after the first three. It's only been the last mth that I have started being able to put the effort in and I hope to see results soon.

  • I am a twin! Haha, my mom got back in shape, she's an avid walker, takes the dog for a walk at least once a day if not twice and also does pilates about 2/week. I am 21 and she's always been really in to walking, I would put up a picture here if she let me lol.
Good Luck and congrats on the twins!

I didn't mean to hijack your thread, but I have been wondering the same thing. I have 2 yr old twins. I am only 6 lbs away from my pre-twin weight, but my stomach looks terrible. The skin is loose, my abs are still split (diastasis?) and I have some wrinkling. :(

I am desperately hoping the gals with awesome abs in their profile pics were at one point like this???
  • My sister has 18month old twins and a 3 year old!
a few months ago she started going to the gym and training for a 7k run that will be held in support of breast cancer research. Now she is in even better shape than she was before having children and is still getting better!
  • Also in Australia they offer a tummy tuck to people who have had children and plan to have no more.
