    I understand what you are saying but on the other hand what if some newbie read this and said HEY...I CAN DO THAT TOO? this aint a healthy approach to what most people come here for. this OP belongs on a weight lifting site, not one for people just trying to get out of obesity

    or they can follow the common advice on here, get no results, get encouraged to eat more because they're not loosing then quit.

    often for someone with a BMI of 30 or higher, its healthier for them to go on a PSMF crash diet, drop 30lbs+ and then start the diet reccomended here... that way they lower their blood pressure and most other issues almost overnight

    i know but to be honest i tink what people may say in hear, and although its in good intention, the person in question isnt really going to listen, i mean i could say he probably hasnt got 'stronger' his muscles have just learned how to lift, and he probably hasnt lost and muscle mass because hes obvciously fairly heavy given his weight, and hes only been doing it a little while - i could make a list of nit picking but i wont becausethat would be mean and i dont want to be, well i kinda just was but yehhhhhh

  • Im afraid to take that stuff. Would definately help me, helps everyone and kills appetite like no fibre can ever do. But it has some scary side effects that happen to some people. + it also reduces penis size in its flaccid state during EC use., dont want that to happen.

    Lol! Good thing I don't have to worry about that problem :P

    2. How do you explain peer reviewed testosterone study of 17lbs muscle gain and 5lbs fat loss at the same time without even excercise? Shows human body can do it.

    4. You said I still lost some muscle, let me tell you If you gain strenght, you gain muscle at the very minimum. Usualy strenght = muscle.

    Ok now it is time for the 300 lbs. lost guy to jump in here!!! lol I had a BMI 0f 74!!! and started working from the beginning with a Dietician and even at 560 lbs. there was never a single word out of her mouth "You need to go on a crash diet, cause that is the only way you can reverse the health problems you have now" Which let me tell you was ALOT and some pretty severe including full blown type 2 diabetes.... No she spent the first 4 weeks adjusting my calorie and carb intake until I was losing at a healthy and long term sustainable weight loss of 2 lbs. a week... was there a few weeks in there that I lost more, most definitely but for the most part it was always slow and steady wins the race. By changing my Lifestyle, eating better, and exercising in 32 months I have lost 302 lbs. and changed my entire outlook on how I live my life... I joined MFP in Oct. of last year but I practiced all the standards that MFP has set forth only doing them on my own with hand journals. I came here for another step in my journey to tackle my social phobia issues and also go to an electronic version of what I have been doing.. lol (although I have to say I now do both, can't break the habit of my hand journals..) There is no quick fixes no matter how much you want one, and running large caloric deficits for any reason is just playing with fire and it will eventually catch up with you... It is unhealthy and unpractical... better to do it the tried and true method, it will keep the weight off long term and you'll be much better for it.... It has worked for me................ just my 2 cents......

    Alright lets stop arguing.

    here are some points that are not arguable:


    Resting heart rate from 72/min to 64/min

    Systolic BP down from high 130's to low 110's

    Feel much lighter and feel more energy.

    WOW....that looks like a copy of MY stats...Obtained by losing 60lbs over two years and never being hungry or starving myself...i did do a lot of cardio and some "barbie" weights and plyometrics....Oh, and I also do "heavy" 15lbs kettlebell stuff....:laugh:

    Absolutely no muscle mass was lost. I GAINED strenght. and my ARM gained 0.5'' from 13.5 to 14''(THATS AFTER FAT LOSS)


    OP's 14" arms are scaring me!

    This all sounds crazy! But I actually have recently spoken to "body builders" and they do do this.. I don't know I don't get it but they are built. Sounds scary lol but good on you that you feel good and are healthy.

    So I'm eating ~1800kcals a day and losing the same 1kg a week. Sometimes more.

    Of course, I'm at ~223lbs.

    ...but then, to bulk at 200lbs and up I'll probably consume 3700-4200kcals a day, and gain weight, gain strength output, and lower bodyfat %.

    I'm posting to compare, not brag. I have nothing to brag about considering all of the huge arms and the six-packs in this thread (nice work, gentlemen!)

    And FYI ... I'm about 12-14 percent body fat... I find a lot of guys either lie or underestimate their fat percentages... I eat 4200 cals per day just to maintain that percentage and gain some muscle w/ said fat percent attatched at a slow slow rate.... Deficit gains???? I don't think so... Tried it... Doesn't work. Don't work for losing fat either... That's a huge deficit... That's a storing deficit people...

    The op is retarded. Come back with some lean body mass numbers. Just because you gained STRENGTH is not the only indicator. You could still be losing muscle. How long have you been tracking certain exercises? You could have been extra motivated that day.

    I've lost 5lbs of lean mass since I started (36 lbs total loss) and my legpress has gone from 90lbs to 210lbs. Strength gains do not equal muscle gains.

    EDIT: Unless you have your body fat actually tested via DEXA scan before and after, you don't have an accurate measure of your body fat percentage or changes in your lean mass either. Those are also my legpress numbers for x8 reps in 4 sets.

    honestly, if his profile pic is recent, he doesn't have as low body fat as he thinks. He's got a bit of a belly. He's not fat but he's certainly not ripped in that pic. I have as much muscle definition as he does and I'm nearing 50 years old and am not in any way a weight lifter/body builder type of person. Based on his pic, I'm in no way impressed.

    Lots of guys think they are more "ripped" than they really are. In all my pics posted here, I'm at 18% bodyfat. That's 10% more than the OP, yet my definition is much more apparent.
    Once I hit 7%, I'll post new pics to show what it's supposed to look like.

    Difference is that people on the biggest loser have a lot of body fat stored so it is "safer" for them. This is why MFP recommends only losing 0.5lb a week if you are in your last 10lbs. It isn't healthy to drop your calories so low. Isn't the point for us to be healthy? Not just skinny.
