I made this with devil's food cake combined with angel food cake...very yummy. I figured the calories to be 109 per cake (I mixed the 2 cake mixes and then measured out the entire amount just to see exactly how many tablespoons there were in the mix). Yum!

I made these this weekend for family desserts. I set out different toppings...cool whip, Nutella, strawberries, blueberries (you get the idea). Each family member topped his/her cake as desired. Personalized 3-2-1 cakes were a big hit!

    Warning!

Make sure your cake mixes are approximately the SAME size. Betty Crocker has started making mixes that are 10 servings ..... instead of the usual 12.

I made this with a "regular" size angel food cake mix & the "smaller" flavored cake mix ...... not nearly as tastey as when the mixes are the same size.
  • this is awesome! I have been looking for little desserts! Thanks

Why not make proper cakes, 4oz butter same flour same sugar and 2 eggs. Make mini cupcakes and freeze. Cake mixes are full of preservatives and 'flavourings' . I rather real cake in small portions than packet stuff.

I LOVE doing this. I usually put some instant coffee in with my mix (chocolate and angel food) and then I top it with some fat free ready whip. It tastes AMAZING and only 105 calories for mine.

My kids (ages 11 & 10) made some this weekend - just put them in glass dessert cups. I think ramekins would work good too.

It is great to be able to make single servings and not have to have the entire cake sitting around calling my name....big cakes seem to yell louder than a single cupcake...mainly because I can silence that single cupcake in about two bites, I suppose.
  • Love this! Awesome idea!

you wouldn't have to double the calories because you are combining 2 cake mixes and still only using 1 tbsn.
glad someone else is doing the calcs here!
  • Thank You soo much. It is perfect and just what I need. Something alittle sweet. Do you know the calories and such?

Calories count depends on EXACTLY which cake mixes you use. Even Angel Food cakes differ in calories depending on which brand you are using. I have a post further up thread that shows exactly which mixes I used and what the recipe calculator said the calories came to. (90)

    Yummy!
  • Honestly, these tasted better to me when made in the oven not in the microwave.
