Feelin Sic in mid-workouts

So major Diet/Lifestyle changes, Started 2/16 Cutting out as much processed food as possible, cut sodium, upped water intake, quit smoking a week ago, last 3 times doing strength training I have got sic feeling in middle like I'm gonna vommit, bf suggested trying protein drink a little before and after workout, helps a little. I don't feel sick doing the treadmill though doing walking/jogging intervals, even for as long as an hour a stretch I feel fine. Last 3 times working out felt sick, 1st day working arms, 2nd working legs, then today working core. Any help, suggestions would be much appreciated!

I've had that happen to me before. When I was working with a trainer it happened a few times and she told me it's because my blood sugar was dropping. She said I need to make sure I was eating something at least 30min - 1hr before strength training and suggested protein shakes or protein bars. She also suggested having Gatorade or something similar with me during training for a quick fix in case it happens again. Both suggestions worked for me.0

Definitely happens to me when I don't eat before strength training. It's always a balancing act on my eating/working out timing since I workout at night. Because if I eat dinner and don't wait long enough to run, I feel sick. But if I don't eat close to my strength workouts, I get super sick. So I'm working out at all hours, depending on the night, to try to keep my meal schedule close to the same day over day.
For me, a protein shake or bar can help, but I actually lift better after a little bit larger meal. Nothing huge, where I feel super full or stuffed, but something with more substance than just a shake or a bar always does me right by lifting.0 -
Eat more! It looks from your diary like you're doing weights on less than 1200 calories sometimes??... work hard, but eat to fuel your workouts. I had one workout last week where I came home dizzy and exhausted, looked at MFP and realized that I'd only eaten about 800 calories during the day, meaning the workout left me at a net of only about 500. Little wonder I was a wreck! I had a protein shake with a banana, sat for a while, got it together and had a good supper... and learned a lesson in the process. If you don't want to eat first, maybe try one of the shakes formulated for pre-workout nutrition, but definitely get something in there to keep you going!0

maybe you should up your calories. that happened to me last month, i felt dizzy and my head felt heavy in b/w workouts. the doc told me it was low blood sugar.... hope you feel better!0

sounds like blood sugar to me as well. If eating something before your workouts doesn't help, you might consider talking to your primary care doctor or a medically supervised fitness trainer or nutritionist at your gym if it continues because there could always be an underlying undiagnosed medical condition.0

Thanks, I think I am gonna up my cals. I tried working out after lunch, and for lunch had some lean turkey and potato, then half a protein shake and waited like an hour and felt so much better durning workout. I think I'm gonna hit a nutritionist or dietition see what they say about cal intake and amounts of macros n stuff. Thank for Input0
