    The episode with the CRAZY Jesus lady was fantastic and we used to watch it all the time in college, just that episode. I can't stand the show, I just loved that one woman.

    Watched one in which one of the chicks was a hoarder..........bought everything in bulk cause she was "clipping cupons".........tons upon tons of toilet paper in the shower!! Very sad indeed!

    I think my most memorable episode that I could watch over and over and over again because it's so crazy is the one with the family that eats all raw food and wakes up in the middle of the night to drink the chunky milk too.

    I think my most memorable episode that I could watch over and over and over again because it's so crazy is the one with the family that eats all raw food and wakes up in the middle of the night to drink the chunky milk too.

    Ewww, never watched the chunky milk ep........I will come across it at some point I imagine.........

    I struggle from time to time..........sometimes I end up cheering on one of the Mom's in a difficult situation...........sometimes I end up wanting to strangle the person whose in the wrong or who I view that is in the wrong

    I worry about you if you are rooting for one of the families. They intentionally pick people who are so far out there with whatever their beliefs are that they are way outside of the realm of healthy living. The show is all about people so extreme that they seriously damage their children in some way.

    I haven't seen it on in quite a long time, but it used to be on. It was like fresh unpasteurized milk and just looks chunky. They would eat raw chicken, drink raw eggs, never cooked anything, not even on a stove (because it could cause cancer). Yet they looked SOOO sickly and pale. It was just an interesting episode to see that's actually how someone lives.

    I worry about you if you are rooting for one of the families. They intentionally pick people who are so far out there with whatever their beliefs are that they are way outside of the realm of healthy living. The show is all about people so extreme that they seriously damage their children in some way.

    I don't think they always find the most craziest out there people, because I've seen a lot of normal families. They just seem to choose complete opposites for shows. Overweight family with a competitive eater versus a healthy family with a boxing mom, religious versus atheist, stay at home moms versus working moms, military family versus those against all the politics and army, etc.

    The few times I have watched that show I always think "I could do that for a week".

    Not necessarily.......if you read correctly I said "one of the Moms" not "families". Some women on here have some really good ideas or is spot on with some family issues that the family they are with have..........I've seen eps where they help the children be more independent or maybe to become more like kids again because the Mom and Dad go overboard where the Mom and Dad dont do anything all day long and the kids essentially take care of the family........

    Exactly! I think the same thing! They knew what they were getting into! Just suck it up for a week is what I say. But they wouldn't have a show if all went well! Haha.

    Well of course they are extreme when you compare the two.............even when you don't, they are still.........but two opposite families can teach each other a lot...........for example, the hoarder versus the neat and orderly person with a house manager, right? We can say that it is okay to scrimp and save just as much as humanly possible..........but to the extreme, you are on a very short leash.........a leash no less that you can let up on just a tad. Just like on the fact of being neat and orderly..........there is a point where it gets to be too much.........seeing how each other live and all opens up a world of knowledge and way of being in a more healthier state than they are right now.

    I watch this show to get through boring treadmill runs. You can tell that they edit, edit, edit, edit to make this show a lot more extreme than it is most of the time. Now sometimes there are those families that don't need the editing, but I think sometimes they are reading a script. One of the ex cast members actually posted a blog a few years ago about how they were told to take everything to the extreme.
    The ones with the really dirty houses, or 25 animals living inside, or the lady that had the shower full of paper plates and junk - I think they must be real because I don't think there is any amount of money I would take to portray my children as living in filth.

    Just like the Bravo housewives series - sometimes it's real and sometimes you can tell it has been highly edited as at the end of the sentence they are wearing a different shirt than they were wearing at the beginning of the sentence.
