I started dressing my age when my middle daughter asked me, "Mother, must you always dress like you just escaped from the circus?"
Now my co-workers tell me, "Linda you always dress so nice and have the best taste." I worked hard to get there.

For me taste, class and modesty play a big role. I have an 11 year old daughter and teenage nieces watching me so I won't wear anything that looks distasteful or displays too much. My personal values. I do also believe there is a time and place for certain ways of dress of course. Those things in mind, wear what you want without looking foolish.

No way, I don't feel my age so I don't dress that way at all.
I know I am different..so what? Don't like to follow fashion rules.

I don't believe in "dressing one's age." I do, however, believe that you will be judged in both how you look and how you carry yourself.

I don't follow fashion magazines or trends. I work retail so I see a lot of women trying to follow what is new and in style. I wear what I like and what I feel comfortable in. I like skirts below and above the knee.
I don't believe that just because something comes on your size that you should wear it.
I will not be caught dead in skinny jeans or leggings!!

I didn't really think about it, till I had my boys. The main thing I changed was the rise of my jeans, low rise jeans are not your friend if you are doing a lot of bending over. I didn't want to be the mom showing *kitten* crack when dropping off / picking up my kids at daycare. I do pay more attention to fit and quality, but I think that just happens naturally over time.

    Ditto........
After a wile it stops making sense to risk catching cold to party in skimpy stuff. Eventually we learn what sexy really is:blushing:

Hmmm... I feel in my 20s so I am good to go... :)

As long as you feel comfortable in what you are wearing and to you it looks good... who cares about the rest.

I haven't shopped in the Jrs department since 10th grade, but otherwise I think you should wear what flatters you and makes you feel good. The rules I have for myself don't necessarly apply to other people.

I mean, I am still totally judgey about it, but I've learned to keep it to myself.

I'm 41 and shop in the Junior's dept, I'm very stylish and never look outta line with what I wear........I draw the line at midriff bearing tops, but I def wear mini skirts, I'm small and can wear them and look stylish.......:) People make the mistake of not dressing for their body shape, not their age.

My birth certificate says I am 43

My brain tells me I am 26 and my closet reflects that fact.

Rules are meant to be broken. My mom is 57 and rocks a bikini and looks great in it! I mean, look at pics of Helen Mirren, she's in her 60s and HOT!

Edited to add that my mom and I often share clothes despite our 30 year age difference!

I love the T-shirts they sell in the juniors section (not the one with pictures or sayings on them but just th eplain old t-shirts...) . For some reason they just make nicer, more flattering t-shirts for teenagers!!!!

The only thing I won't wear (at 29) are pants/shorts that have writing across the butt.

I agree with you about mini skirts but I wear my tight skinny leg jeans I just feel the top to compliment it with needs to be age appropriate. Throw on some cute heels and watch out now. I am 44.

I don't dress my age and never will. I'm wearing a plaid Hollister top and some skinny jeans right now. The ultra skinny jeans from Hollister too.
I also wear video game tees and band tees. I'm 35.
In any case, I'm built so small I can't shop in anything but Juniors.

Nobody should wear those at any age.

    Oh yeah - I'm 57 and I wear whatever i please.
  • I went shopping the other day and tried on a pair of jeans. They had rips in them and I have to say even tho they looked AMAZING, I think I am too old for them - 43. Oh and btw......belly shirts are making a comeback (and I have abs) but I WON'T be wearing these either.

I'm a 40 year old woman and still manage to feel more comfortable dressing like a 17 year old boy. :P *shrug*

    Wear whatever makes you happy.
If you are uncomfortable, it shows!
