Late Night Chocolate Cravings?

For some reason late at night lately I've been getting incredible cravings for chocolate. It's not at all that I'm hungry, but that I just want a big snickers bar or something. To try and stop it I've started chewing gum at night and that kind of works, but not always. I was thinking about getting lollipops or something like that so I can at least have something sweet in my mouth instead of giving in. I don't get cravings this strong any other time of day and they've only started recently, months after I started dieting and eating at night.
Does anyone have any ideas how to stop these cravings? I'm trying to be good, but it's hard. Thank you!

Fiber One, chocolate chip!!! They are delicious!0

I'm the type that can measure out small portions of chocolate and be happy- so I have a bag of Ghirardelli 60% chips on hand. One serving is 16 chips= 80 calories. That'll do it for me. I've also made chocolate mug cake at around 100 calories that does the trick for me.0

How about just save yourself some calories for the day, and have a snickers?
Or if you are trying to cut sugar and be more healthy, you could mix a tsp of cocoa with some Greek yogurt. Or a bowl of oatmeal.0 -
Sugar free chocolate pudding or Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches. They are good!0

You may actually be lacking some key nutrients like magnesium or calcium or your blood sugar may be low(that is when we tend to crave the sweet stuff). My suggestion is to give in. Have a piece of dark chocolate. If you have the calories, why not? I eat some dark chocolate every night. Always 70% cacao or higher though.0

Agreed. They actually made my mom incredibly sick. She was going to call the doctor. Some people have absolutely terrible reactions to chicory root extract.0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! I've been so conditioned to want dessert after lunch/dinner, that I feel weird if I don't have chocolate. What I usually try to do is either have a chocolatey cereal, or I recently bought the Quaker Oats Chocolate Dipps, they're pretty good, and usually satisfy my need for chocolate. I really like the peanut butter flavored ones a lot!! Or maybe some hershey's syrup with some milk, not a whole lot, but you know, something to satisfy you in that moment.
And I've tried the fiber one brownies, those are delicious too!!
I can't cut out the chocolate entirely, I have some every now and then, it helps. Good luck!!0 -
I always drink a Chocolate Protein shake right before bed... amazing also helps your body restore nutrients while you sleep and rebuild muscle skinny cow and other "snacks" are just empty calories and alot of chemicals... I read an article on Skinny cow products last week talking about the chemicals in skinny cow products... dont get me wrong I LOVE the mint choco chip ice cream bars by them but after reading the article I think im going to be cutting back0

How about dark chocolate? A couple of large squares. Perhaps the bitterness may curb the sweet cravings?0

LOVE THESE! The Skinny Cow products are also great. I love their icecream sandwiches and I just recently tried the milk chocolate candy. I love the icecream because they're only like 120-140 calories but they're HUGE so you really feel like you're treating yourself. The candy is ok...they packages are really small and the candy is barely bite size so I tend to feel a little cheated.0 -
Fudge Popsicles YUM YUM only 60 calories too!0

I'm reading this book. It says if you have a snack or meal always have some protein .0

I keep Hershey's kisses on hand for just such occasions. Alternatively, try Arctic Zone Chocolate frozen dessert (150 calories a PINT). The Arctic Zone is pricey, though.0

i've been craving chocolate recently too.. must be all the Easter candy that is out.. ughh.. GIVE ME CHOCOLATEEEEE lol0

Here's a reaosn not to eat or drink (hot) chocolate before bed: It contains caffeine which could lead to slightly disturbed sleep. You crave sugar and carbs before bed because it releases melotonin which AIDS restful sleep. So allocate yourself some carb calories for before bedtime and eat them... It's basically feeding your brain which will help process your thoughts etc better!0

skinny cow dreamy clusters! Caramel, crisps, and chocolate. Six yummy clusters for 120calories!0

I agree - savor a piece of dark chocolate!0

I looove Jell-O chocolate mousse. 60 delicious calories0
-
chocolate lollipops from see's are only 50 calories i think.
also hot chocolate in almond/skim milk is great. i use a 3rd of the instant cocoa packets from starbux. its like 110 cals a packet but it goes a long way (for me at least). i usually get about 3 cups out of it. and it even has marshmallows!0 -
I have been doing really well but for some reason I decided to buy these little coconut mini bars and of course, i've eaten one both yesterday and today....sigh...atleast I havent eaten the whole box in one night!0

These are effing delicious!
and.. I made these last night.. they're not delectable but they're alright and they're really healthy no bake brownies. I got them from Zuzana Light's facebook.
"1/2 cup raw cocoa powder
... 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup almond milk
1/2 cup organic raisins or better yet you can use organic mixed dried berries
1/2 cup old fashioned gluten free rolled oats
1/2 cup almond meal
Blend it all in food processor into a smooth dough and then press it into a square dish. Leave it in the fridge for like an hour and then just cut out small squares out of the brownie for a snack.
Enjoy and let me know how did you like it."
I didn't have almond meal so I substituted 4 tbs of milled flax. I would do less cinnamon, they tasted a bit too cinnamony for me. ^_^0 -
1 Ghiradelli square 72% cacao or darker... the darker the better. Let it melt on your tongue. Does it for me every time!0
-
I agree with the Chocolate Chip Fudge Fiber One brownies!! They're amazing for 90 calories! Or, what I really like now, Zone Perfect bars! They are designed as nutrition protein bars but I'm starting to use them in place of a chocolate bar when I really need it as a snack, they are 190 calories for the double dark chocolate and dark chocolate almond flavors. Yummmmmy!0

I keep Fiber Plus bars (the peanut butter chocolate kind & the the dark chocolate almond kind) on hand for those cravings. Or if I don't have the 120-130 calories leftover, I will grab a couple dark chocolate Hershey kisses at 20 calories per piece! Those usually fix my chocolate cravings.0
